I really love this, but the portion after the crown prince's death was just... draggy. It was hard to watch as it felt like the writers were just stalling for more airtime. Luckily, the last part at Qingzhou redeemed the show quite a bit. But I'm still lamenting how we could've more airtime of the main couple instead :/
And... why so many unnecessary deaths? Which made me think the writer just wanted to make it into some sort of tragedy... Some of the deaths really feels forced...
Still, I really adore how much ML is so devoted to FL. Although I started this because of WJY, I've become more of a LXY fan. He really acts well (and handsome too)! WJY though, this is the first time she couldn't really pull off some expressions in some scenes. But she nailed it for most part!
Was really looking forward to it because of Jung Hae In and well, the childhood troupe. Sadly it got draggy in the middle and just got kinda boring to watch...
They were more like very best friends than lovers! They are great actors, and I am not even close to the level…
Agreed with you on this too, just a minor tweak would have improved the ending greatly :( Sometimes I wonder what goes on in the script writers' heads...
Was really looking forward to this drama, especially after watching the trailers of the leads' rivalry in high school (reminds me of PHS's character in Bong Soon). And, I must say that I'm a fan of both PSH and PHS... But they didn't have much chemistry, until maybe the last few episodes (leaving me to think that PHS was carrying the show mostly - because I love his exaggerated acting/scenes).
It started out interesting and went meh pretty fast (for the longest time actually). Middle portion was very draggy, and I almost dropped it. Just felt that some things were stretched unnecessary long...
But I'd still like to commend PSH's kissing scenes - she finally, FINALLY looks like she's kissing instead of being so surprised (maybe because she's married now). And I liked how both ML and FL had things they had to resolve and heal about, together (usually it's either or). The whole healing process, although long, was good.
Anyway, I thought we'd be getting a wedding scene of sorts so was kinda disappointed with the ending (just hinting they'd be having their wedding photoshoot) :(

Although I knew FL's reasoning, it still annoyed me how she kept pushing ML away (they were only together for 1+ episode) - like at first it was still acceptable, but it just got a little too much towards the end, before they got together. Also, her sass and wits kinda just gradually disappears... Even before she became the king's woman. That was kinda disappointing.
Things picked up in the last episode and the whole drama managed to wrapped up nicely... Although it wasn't really the ending I was expecting, since I waited so long for them to get together. Last episode was really good, but there just seems to be something lacking between that and the pace of the previous few episodes prior to it. Maybe it's the transition?
Still, I enjoyed the drama, especially Lee Jun Ho's character. I like the complexity of emotions he exhibited, as a crown prince to a king. I've become a fan. But I'm confused about the ending scene...
S2 seems more focused on the politics of the higher ups, not as intense but still as good. I had hoped to see more of the Joon Ho and Ho Yul pairing in S2, but I liked how S2 continued to develop the characters - especially with Joon Ho's emotions (tbh I kinda waiting for him to be a deserter since the last scene in S1).
Anyway, it was a bittersweet moment when they went on their separate ways at the end due to Ho Yul's discharge. I'll miss them
Watched this because I was curious, since I had watched the anime. Although following the anime, I thought the first half's pace was too slow... Things picked up in the second half, execution was finally more like a drama than an anime. Still, certain gestures... are best portrayed in an animation than a live action. Ending was brief, but guess that can't be helped since it's only 10 episodes.
Rather than the main couple, I like the Ryu and Chizuru pairing better. Maybe cause I like Ryu more than Kazehaya here.
Not bad, but some parts were quite draggy. Although I'm glad it's a "happy ending", it's really too brief to conclude everything - especially about Yan Hui's situation. Also, like some who commented, Su Ying felt more like the main villain than the Dark Lord.
Had pretty high expectations for this show due to the high rating... Overall it's not bad, but the scene transitions always felt rushed for me. It's abrupt sometimes, but I guess it also prevents the show from being too draggy. ML is not bad, but FL's acting gets a bit awkward sometimes during the romantic scenes.
What a brilliant masterpiece. Episodes were either tension-fuelled or filled with Tan Taijin's tenderness towards Ye Xiwu. Love it from beginning to end. Although I guessed it wouldn't be a happy ending, I was still hoping for it.. Tan Taijin really deserves better.
Finally watched it after waiting for so long! It's also been some time since I've watched CXX & Landi, forgot how good they are. Really love their chemistry and everything was so pretty! Sadly, the ending was disappointing... Thought the ladies would at least appear in human form & be reunited with their other halves :(
