CONFUSING

I still enjoyed watching this season, but it never reached the emotional impact of Season 1. The shift to the modern setting made it feel disconnected, and instead of answering the questions left by the first season, it only created more.

My biggest issue was how many plot holes were left unexplained. I could not understand why the FL never revealed herself to the ML all those years, or why neither of them knew the other was still alive despite everything they had gone through. The explanations just did not feel convincing.

The ending was the most frustrating part. After everything the characters fought and sacrificed for, it felt like none of it really mattered. They lost each other again, their journey came full circle without much payoff, and I was left with more questions than answers. It honestly felt rushed, unnecessarily confusing, and nowhere near as satisfying as Season 1.

THE LIGHT, BEFORE THE SHADOW.

I really liked this season because everyone contributed to the fun atmosphere and the chemistry between Jang Uk and Mu Deok was amazing. I loved the storyline and the unique concept of soul shifting. Although the idea itself may not be entirely new, I liked how the drama established its own rules and explored the consequences of soul shifting in a way that felt interesting and well thought out.

I also found the running bromance between Jang Uk and the Crown Prince hilarious. Paired with the main love story, it made the drama even more entertaining. The second couple was also adorable, and I genuinely enjoyed watching their relationship develop.

If you ask me, they named Season 2 Light and Shadow, but they could have named Season 1 Light because this season was full of warmth, humor, adventure, and heart. Season 2, on the other hand, truly felt like the Shadow, which is why I ended up dropping it. It honestly felt like I was watching an entirely different drama.

Addressed Shame & Save Face Culture

I really enjoyed this drama because of the natural chemistry between the FL and ML. Their childhood friends-to-lovers dynamic felt believable, and their playful banter made their relationship easy to root for. I also appreciated that the romance developed at a comfortable pace instead of feeling rushed.

What I liked most was how emotionally grounded the drama was. It balanced heartfelt moments with comedy, making the characters feel relatable and genuine. The supporting cast also added warmth and humor to the story without overshadowing the main couple.

One aspect that stood out to me was how the drama reflected the struggles many people face in today's society, especially those who were once successful, or were on the path to success, only to watch their lives take an unexpected turn. As an Asian, I found this message particularly impactful because it touched on the culture of shame and saving face that many of us are familiar with. The drama reminds us that success should not be measured solely by our achievements. Sometimes, finding a different path, being content with ourselves, and discovering happiness are just as meaningful.

I also appreciated how the drama emphasized the importance of honest communication within a family. Instead of avoiding difficult conversations or pretending everything is fine, it showed that families become stronger by facing problems together with honesty and understanding.

Overall, this was a comforting and enjoyable watch. It may not have had the most groundbreaking plot, but its charm came from the characters, their relationships, and the meaningful life lessons it shared. It left me with a warm and satisfying feeling long after it ended.

THE BEST WOMAN EMPOWERMENT SHOW!

I have watched and rewatched this drama, and it still hits me the same way every time. When it was airing, I would lose sleep waiting for the next episode because I was that invested in the story. I don't even dare skip the intro. 😂

What I loved most was the dynamic between the four women. They balanced and complemented each other's personalities so well, and watching their journey together was incredibly rewarding. As they faced different challenges, they gradually discovered their own strengths, gained confidence, and became better versions of themselves. Their journey also led them to form a genuine friendship, always supporting and helping one another. That is one of the values I appreciated most while watching this drama.

I also liked that the romance was paced just right. It never felt rushed or overly aggressive. I understand why some viewers might find the drama less quirky, but it is important to remember that the story is set in a much more conservative time. Considering the era and the nature of the business they were running, the characters' reserved personalities and reactions felt completely natural. In fact, the FL's innocent reactions whenever she encountered something new had me laughing so hard.

The comedy landed every time, and I never found the drama dull. Even its quieter and more lighthearted moments remained engaging because they reflected the values and realities of women during that period. The drama stayed true to its setting without sacrificing its humor or emotional impact.

Overall, I will never change my opinion about this drama. It is one of the most underrated gems I have ever watched and, for me, one of the best K-dramas when it comes to portraying women's empowerment. The romance was a bonus, but it was the friendship, personal growth, and unwavering support between the four women that made this drama truly unforgettable.

50 Episodes Worthy

Not basing it on the individual characters but on the drama as a whole, this was absolutely worth every episode. Since it is an older drama, it naturally has more episodes than modern dramas, but I never found it dragging. There was always something meaningful happening, and every episode kept me emotionally invested.

What stood out the most was the emotional weight of the drama. It took me through every emotion imaginable, from laughter and happiness to hatred, heartbreak, regret, longing, and yearning. It is one of the best tearjerkers I have ever watched, and I lost count of how many times it made me cry.

Both the FL and ML delivered incredibly powerful performances, especially during the emotional scenes, making every moment feel genuine and unforgettable. This is a drama that has stayed with me long after I finished watching it.

One of the best fantasy K-Drama

One of the best tearjerkers I've ever watched. I cried so much throughout this drama that I genuinely lost count. The emotional connection I felt with the characters was incredible, and the chemistry between the FL and ML was nothing short of amazing. I also loved the second couple, whose relationship was just as heartfelt and added even more depth to the drama.

What I loved most was how every emotional scene landed perfectly. The drama made me laugh, smile, and cry, often within the same episode. It never felt emotionally forced, and every heartfelt moment felt genuine. I became so invested in the characters that I found myself feeling everything they were going through.

Overall, this drama left a lasting impression on me. It is one of the few K-dramas that made me feel so emotionally attached from beginning to end, and that is exactly why it remains one of my all-time favorites.

A Timeless Classic

I can completely understand why this drama became such a massive hit. Even years after its release, it still holds up remarkably well and has a charm that never feels outdated.

One of the biggest strengths of this drama is the chemistry between the leads. Their personalities complemented each other perfectly. The FL's loud, dramatic, and unapologetically expressive personality was balanced by the ML's aloof, almost deadpan demeanor. He was clearly written to be calm and nonchalant, and that contrast made their dynamic incredibly entertaining. Instead of clashing, they brought out the best in each other, making both the comedic and emotional moments land naturally.

I also appreciated how naturally the comedy blended with the romance. The drama never leaned too heavily into one genre, allowing each element to shine without taking away from the others. It struck a balance that kept me invested throughout.

The emotional moments were just as memorable. As the story progressed, I found myself becoming more attached to the characters and their relationship. The drama did a wonderful job of making me laugh one moment and feel emotional the next.

Overall, I understand why this drama is considered a classic. It has memorable characters, excellent chemistry, plenty of humor, and an emotional story that continues to resonate years later. It is one of those dramas that truly deserves its reputation.
