Jdramas not popular on MDL and generally wordwild because there not too more place to watch it, all other jdrama i watched was translated by independent subbers, and subs can find only in Twitter/Discord/their blogs, some jdrama till today not have any subs (or translating extremely long). And also production quality most of them very bad and cheap, especially compare to Korea, American or Chinese.
I love this drama because it has amazing visual and acting, atmosphere, which compensated simple plot.
If all jdramas was produce on such level and available on more streaming platforms with subs, Im sure they become much more popular and well received.
I also can say this drama very classic japan story, if you watched their romance movies 2000-2015 years

Its more popular because it on Netflix, people no need wait subs for months and production quality way better then 95% of jdramas

ML in this drama Yuan Qi (son of Shang Gu and Bai Jue)

Trending its not always mean its most popular, hot search very common buying by company of actors, drama itself, fans or antifans, plus its can show that fans of drama very active (and as I understand LAP watchers mostly young audience), NLB popular among general public (not fans) and SAHPH was very long awaited and has extremely popular Yang Mi.

Actually similar things happen at summer, where also was big competition between 3 hits, Immortal Samsara had huge Cheng Yi and Yang Zi fandoms, LNFAD was popular among young people and trendy, and LLTG was popular in general public.

I can recommend it, because ML, FL and SML, and even SFL are good persons, they will make some mistakes, but in this drama zero evil characters

First SML had some crush on FL in school, but she in loved with ML, but SML was happy for them and support them. Later ML broke up with FL because of his hearing problems, but said her that he met other girl.

Later after 5 years FL met SML and they become couple, they cute and comfortable together, but there no big sparkles between them.

After 3 years, FL met ML and knew truth why he broke up with her, she want become his friends and be sure that ML has happy life, she started learn sign language to properly communicate with him. SML also happy see his friend again, but felt heartbroken about truth, because he feels like if ML didn't lost his hearing he and FL will be still together, also SML feels insecure about FL feeling (because he never was first choice for her). So he decided broke up with her

FL not running to ML right after that, they just friends, and we still not sure will they end up together or not.

This drama not typical japanese love story, it's show POV of every character, there only a bit romance

There actually only one scene 18+ (totally unnecessary), whole drama can easy be 13-15+

He didn't cheat, he met that girl before his fiancée, but agree that scene absolutely unnecessary

It so sad to know that their pure strong love, was destroyed by stupid circumstances and Yae's mom (and how Yae acted was also OC for me, still can't believe she just sit and watch how Harumichi was insulted by her "friend" jerk), but if it not happen there will be no story, I happy to see such satisfying ending

The most beautiful japanese drama I ever seen, OST, visual, acting just perfect, especially Kido Taisei, who played young Harumichi, for me he was soul of that drama, his incredible fresh acting and raw emotions made this drama so unique and special for me, despite a bit cliche story❤️

If japanese currently airing "Silent" , also movies has similar vibes "Us and Them", "Lier and his lover", "Upcoming summer", "Your eyes tell", "We where there"

They banned focused on harem drama, look like king palace and wife and concubines fight each other for king love and power, previously there a lot such dramas, but now it's very slightly touch this theme, or only in some super cheap we dramas (it also happened with time travel dramas - so now it's always changed to leads get inside game/book/dream). I just somehow know how Chinese gov work (they can banned anything, like Winnie Pooh), I still have very small hope they will change their policy or at least not touch donghua 😔

Its banned, its not said loud, but its is, even with censorship, because main problem for government is popularity of that genre.
For example, previously 2 harem dramas was crazy popular - "Story of Yanxi Palace" and "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace" and because of that government banned harem dramas.
BL adaptation is crazy popular, no matter it named "bromance", because everyone know original source. I hope there will be some changes in government policy, because I almost lost hope to watch all that drama (also Winner is King, TGCF, Chasing the Light)
