On The Day We Lit Up the Sky Feb 1, 2023
The whole time I was asking myself: "What am I watching?" and then "Why am I still watching it"? The movie is all over the place, doesn't make any sense, scenes follow one another without rhyme or reason jumping like a monkey on drugs, and the dance sequences are all exactly the same. The two main leads are very sweet, but that's all. What a noisy yawn fest!

Amazing. First time i see kisses with tongue in a kdrama. And the adult scenes between partners, also wonderful.…
Poor actors, though. If the trend continues, they will be forced to do much more intimate things on screen like their European and American counterparts.

How does it differ?
Hurt his feelings? She soothed his feelings, cured him from his despair and depression, made him believe in life and love again, made him realize his kingly potential and influenced him to implement changes beneficial to his people. It is you, I think, who hasn't been watching.

The best thing about this drama is the ending. It did not dwell too much on how to end the evildoers but instead…
Where did they call him His Highness? Only in the flashbacks, when he was still crown prince. As for the Great Queen Dowager, she is daebi mama, "Her royal highness". Not her grace. I'm talking, of course, about Joseon titles, not the ones for European royalty in which I am not knowledgeable at all.
If you're curious about Joseon titles and such, you can have a look at my work document here:

They take long to sub it....i always watch it on something else.....i dunno how they are subbed faster than viki...n…
MBC TV has given the drama licence to Viki on condition that the drama will get shown in its own platform first and Viki can show it only after a few hours.
Also, it's not subbed by volunteers, but by paid subbers (who suck, frankly. If I gave you some examples of their English, you would laugh). We only get to edit those subtitles afterwards - but our hard job gets unnoticed because everybody impatiently watches it as soon as it becomes available (I can understand that).

How does it differ?
Why would he need someone to give him permission to "finally" accept her? That's super-lame, I wouldn't have liked it at all!

Now that it's finished airing, how is it? Much romance? Any love triangles? Any break-ups? Happy ending?
Yes, all of that. The ending was extremely satisfying, not rushed at all, everybody had their happy conclusion, not just the leads (well, with the exception of the villains)

The boy said that his father told him "Never become friends with a girl, this is the start of all tragedies". Obviously the father was Shin Won.
And he tells the girl that from her clothes she seems to be of royal birth, so she's the little princess.
The other children were adopted by the Eunuch and the Head Court Lady from the Affection village. They were probably orphans or something. He said "Isn't it nice to have a father?" (you don't usually say that to your own children) and she said "isn't it better to live here than in Affection Village? NOW we are all a family".

Then it's not "nine generations", but "nine degrees of kinship".

A small question, after watching episode 11 - but unrelated to the main plot, so no spoiler.
When someone said that a culprit will be condemned to death and with him his whole family, for 8 generations", how can that be? I mean, if his whole family is killed, there won't be any next generation, right? Not even one, let alone 8.

Why Sin Won didn't breathe a word about So Rang's identity to the king is one of the biggest plotholes in this…
But surely telling him that So Rang was his intended bride he was looking for for the past 7 years would have avoided many misunderstandings, and maybe also heartbreak. Because the king wasn't in love with her since the beginning, therefore if he knew she was his friend's fiancée, he might have held back and not let himself fall for her. Maybe or maybe not. But, from Sin Won's point of view, it was worth trying, no? It doesn't make sense that he didn't tell him that, since they were reasonably close and used to talk about the matter a lot all those years.

Why Sin Won didn't breathe a word about So Rang's identity to the king is one of the biggest plotholes in this drama. Why he didn't breathe a word about Ms Seo's involvement with shady business right now, is another.

From the queen? You mean his grandma? No, of course not. If the grandma knew she was a noblewoman, she wouldn't be so set against her.

She uses good observation skills, knowledge of human nature and, lastly, common sense. And people won't question if a ghost talks a little differently, as long as the general impression is convincing.

So it's true that shock works. I thought it was just a convenient thing invented for the drama. I'm happy that your face healed.

I think you must have been doing something else while watching the episodes. Housework, computer games, I don't know. So you have missed a big chunk of it.

Cool. This drama however is not Red Sleeve 2 nor does it tries to be that, so i dunno why these comparisons are…
Only that she's not really a court lady. She tries to fit the role as best she can, but her training was brief and hurried, cannot overturn all her years on the street. And her personality is not fit for a court lay to begin with.
Aaaand, most importantly, the drama is a comedy, with many anachronisms, it's not to be taken as an authentic sageuk. It said so at the beginning, too, "this is an alternate world" etc. , for those that don't know how to take a hint.
