the production and action scenes were great, just a lackluster storyline. and worse, waiting for episodes in VIKI made me forget what I was watching about. this is not YY’s best for sure.
maybe it’s the way they look at each other or the way the kiss, even saying “saranagae” like a soft whisper in the ear , this show is purely about the chemistry. and LJW’s lips was an added bonus, reminds me of Angelina Jolie.
The symbolism in Episode 10 is impossible to miss. The tattered shirt, worn for what appears to be days, becomes more than just clothing. It symbolizes a man being kept, emotionally and physically exhausted, resigned to circumstances he can no longer control. It reflects not only his deteriorating state but also how deeply he has fallen into the rabbit hole of dependency and submission.
The reference to Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming feels equally deliberate. It symbolizes awakening and the possibility of a new beginning. After so much darkness, the story hints that redemption and healing may still be possible.
The sunflower during the rain was perhaps the most hopeful image of the episode. Despite adversity, it continues to face the light, suggesting resilience and the possibility of growth even during life’s storms.
The light bulb scene carries similar meaning. A room once dark is illuminated again, symbolizing clarity, hope, and a brighter future. Yet the episode also reminds us that growth often requires letting go. Whether in relationships with partners, spouses, children, or even ourselves, a chokehold rarely nurtures growth. Like a plant confined to the same pot forever, we eventually wither if we are not given room to grow.
The emotional roller coaster continues, and the series has an uncanny ability to keep the viewer invested. My only criticism remains the frequent facial close-ups, which often feel excessive and unnecessary. The performances and symbolism are already powerful enough without the camera lingering quite so intensely
and i only realised it in true sense, love is greater than every emotion. thank you for your comment.
I’ve learned all these years that love is not an emotion, it is an action verb. it’s the act of love that intensify emotions. this show epitomizes the act of love, can lead to pain and hatred. it’s one of my favorite episodes of any BL.
This show reminds me of “Gone Girl” where it focuses on manipulation, obsession, and the power dynamics within a relationship. I can’t deny Ayden’s acting and he’s going to be a force to reckon with, straight or BL. he’s so good and convincing that I stopped thinking this was a BL show but a psychological thriller. maybe it’s the dark side of me who has been waiting in the dark but please give me more of this personality. Rage and anger doesn’t always mean hatred, it comes from a very deep and painful experience. I’m sure this eventually lightens up but damn if I couldn’t peel my eyes off my TV screen. oh, my wife thought she was watching “50 shades of grey”
the storyline has potential, another revenge drama, so far good acting and palpable friction. I just can get over the really bad wigs but hey it’s only the first episode and there shouldn’t be any more wigs later…
The perfect balance of comedic story-telling blended with drama is amazing, most importantly the comedic timing is perfect, not forced nor slapstick. I can’t really find a newer series to match this form of storytelling
U don't think addicted, revenged love and double helix are the only chinese bls, do u? A new bl gets released…
ahahaha you really need to read the whole comment. I only mentioned two as an example, I couldn’t post all 40 shows I like. and yes I do yoga every day and do deep breathing. next time be careful how you write your comment as well as you misunderstood my post, I too understood yours. peace.
Its a Taiwan production not mainland China thats how they get around censorship. To My Shore filmed with a thailand…
I see. I don’t always get to know which country they are made. At one point no noted a HK production only to be told it was a Mainland China. I’m a big fan of Taiwan productions like “Your name engrave herein” and “Unknown” my two highest rated BL ever. and that’s jus my personal preference.
U don't think addicted, revenged love and double helix are the only chinese bls, do u? A new bl gets released…
I never said that at all I am not sure how you interpreted my post but you are too far off in your understanding. so please advice me, no, educate men in my grammatical and writing skills.
not exeptional ! what is an exeptional BL for you in that case? can you give me an exemple ?
we all have different preferences but exceptional to you is not always the same for others. That life and I’m glad we all can’t be lemmings and be the same. be that as it may, we may agree on others as well so let’s just we can agree to differ. it’s just a TV show. and I did credit the actors for their acting skills. also bear in mind I never said Addicted and Revenge Love is not exceptional, these two are my favorite as well
I’m surprised this show wasn’t cancelled by the Chinese censors…after all they banned Addicted and almost stopped Revenged Love. And I have to give credit to Chinese producers for creating toxic relations albeit more of the extreme end. it is just a show from a novel designed to get emotions up, but if you look beyond the characters, the entertainment factor is really good, not the best but good. I specially love the push-pull relationship between our main characters, the sibling and the parents. I mean who would survive the pressure of filial responsibility in an Asian culture, except if you’re Asian. in appreciation of the challenges of Asian gay men and the pressure of family and society is real and that’s the essence of the story like so many other, and the writers just expresses this in ways that may seem extreme. looking forward to the rest of the series, and because this is just a fantasy I hope they at least make it a happy ending, giving others hope of a brighter future. kudos tot he actors for pulling us into their world.
I think the narrative falls short in selling BYT and Linglong's connection to their brother and aunt. Bc it was…
I fully agree, the story truly felt like “hey let’s make the series longer so let’s add this story” and has no face value other than explaining BYT’s anger at the magistrate.
I’m on episode 26 and I’ve noticed the storyline of the dead brother just went on a tangent and too long. another typical Chinese drama filler. I have to rate these last few episodes much lower for the context. this show appears to have lost its steam since 5 episodes prior. and what’s a fighter who can’t use a sword…maybe they should title the show The return of Kung Fu with David Carradine (sarcasm intended). can we now move on.
Japanese writers and directors truly know how to bring the best out of their actors…BL or not. And that very short scene in the rain with and umbrella…that did it for me. I felt for both of them. this is an awesome series.
