enjoyed it more than expected!

This romcom started with every cliché there could possibly be for a cdrama: cold male (traumatized) CEO, dumb, childish, poor girl, contract marriage, accidental kisses .... You might need some time to get into this drama, but since it's always that way for me, I didn't mind too much.
The FL doesn't turn out as dumb and annoying as probably expected. At some point, I really started to like her.
I had a harder time adjusting with the ML. No matter how incapable of dealing with other people, their and his own feelings he was supposed to be, this was definitely no way to treat a girl lol.
There were some way too obvious plot holes you just can't miss, even to me, who watches dramas for pure entertainment and always oversees them. But it's okay, the overall story is good, and I especially loved the development of their feelings, so I guess you can just ignore some other things :)
The acting is so good! The ML's amazing, and the FL does so much better than expected. It's her debut drama, she's only 19 (!!), so let's be kind to her!
Also great chemistry between the first couple! Can't wait for further development :))
The FL always gets herself in trouble, and there were some issues that made me feel a bit uncomfortable sometimes, but they were surprisingly solved quite comfortably.

I just finished Ep14, and I'll do an update once I finished the whole thing. By now, it's far better than expected :) (Don't mind the rewatch value, I usually don't rewatch dramas)

EDIT: Okay, finally got to finish it! Sooo there's few things I'd like to add:
- Whoever said a good drama HAS to be non-cliché like, unpredictable and intense, I FUNDAMENTALLY diasagree with that!!
- Regarding my last aspect before the edit, this was definitely one of the things I enjoyed the most about this. Issues didn't take up years to build up and again years to solve, they came and went quickly, making the journey of watching quite comfortable and pleasant. However, the only waaay too consistent thing were the 2 more or less nasty sideleads who lowkey (or better highkey) tried to ruin their relationship. And there was no way you could ignore them because they were there ALL THE TIME :(
- This drama definitely focusses on character development, not business or the ML's phobia or anything else.
- The chemistry was OVER THE TOP. Won't say too much about this because I don't want to spoiler on this, but I don't doubt at all you'll feel it too.
- Second couple got only little screentime, I enjoyed their storyline a lot tho. It's not that I refuse "too much cliché" (lol don't watch this if you do), but I liked that they didn't make the second couple to that "one chasing the other" cliché too.

Last thing (I promise hahaha): It's a very very short drama. And the beginning was by far the worst part. It has 30 Eps of 30 Minutes, so that'd be 20 Eps (!!!) of 45 Minutes. (Not me actually sitting down and calculating that oops.) It's no shame to drop a drama if you don't like it, but here, it's also not that hard to stay through it for the ending :)

Don't give up after the first Eps, it gets better!

1. Story
First of all, I'm really into business dramas and I don't mind business talk at all - I have alredy read that there was going to be a whole lot of business in the storyline, yet I need to say that still I was surprised about how much it actually made up of the story. I almost dropped it after Ep.4 - but I didn't, which was definitely a good choice!!!
I really enjoyed the story behind though, but some cases were way too draggy, for example the very first one with Wan JiaHe, which didn't need to take up that many Eps as it did. But all in all, the storyline develops very well, expecially in the second half (!!).
I've read reviews where people found the love story between the first lead couple too much of "back and forth", but to me, honestly, it didn't feel that way. Yes, there COULD'VE been less of it, but nothing relly felt like it was forced to me, and regarding the fact that this drama has 40 Eps, the "back and forth"s were needed to keep the story going.

2. Characters
Well, finally a drama where I enjoyed every female character! No clumsy, childish characters - instead we got smart, strong and independent women - not only the first and second lead (Lin Wo & Alisa), but also Sun Miao and even Zheng WanYing (though she was indeed getting a lot on my nerves in the first half haha).
What also surprised me in a good way was the second lead couple: They were not "only" supporting roles, but each had their own stories - really nice to watch! And I loooved Su Yuan, he developed to such a nice character and became really enjoyable to watch :)
Also a big praise to the stylists! I loved the outfits, especially Lin Wo's business outfits, and needless to talk about Hu YiTian in suits.. ;)

3. Acting & Cast
To me, the first lead couple didn't miss any chemistry, besides they look really well together.
I am really impressed with Qiao Xin's (Lin Wo's) crying scenes, they looked very real to me - except some scenes around the end where it was a bit too much for me - but I could get the emotions she was trying to portray.

The music was nothing special to me, but it did what it should and matched the scenes very well.

All in all, a drama worth watching if you don't mind too much business! Personally, the second half was way better than the first, so I'd recommend everyone to just "bear" some scenes in order to get to the more interesting parts!
The story is indeed a more mature one, the drama contains some dark scenes, facing such topics like suicide and family problems; the love story of the first leads is also more mature (which was definitely pretty enjoyable to me!).
( Little plus: Lots of slap scenes of Gao Shan (Hu YiTian), really entertaining to watch.. I love him tho lol)

-- very small spoiler --
.. aaand last: Yes, I get why everyone is hating so hard on Bei XiaoRong, but honestly.. Wasn't it already pretty obvious that he is not gonna win over Gao Shan? :) So why not lean back and enjoy some more drama in the making..? ;))

please don't be that harsh on such romcoms.. it's not that bad!!

This was a typical cliché-like drama matched with non-cliché-like elements. I watched this as a gap filler because of its short length (and the kisses). If you're like me, falling for that cliché part (though never admitting it haha) and curious about the other parts, give it a try!
There's the typical cold, rich male CEO with a kinda dumb, childish, poor girl... at least that's what it quite seemed like at the very beginning. Buuut let me come to those non-cliché parts, because that's what made this romcom special to me:
- the pain exchange was an interesting aspect to me. haven't seen that in a drama before. ML's acting was HILARIOUS, I laughed my ass off when he was dying because of period cramps hahaha
- no cringey "girl chasing the man" part before they start dating. both fell in love gradually at the same time, also to me they didn't have that "meant-to-be" vibe right from the start which would've made that drama more predictable as it already was anyways
- generally, FL didn't turn out that dumb as probably expected (to me)
- the MMA part. well yes, but also no haha, Ke SiYi's character didn't match a MMA fighter AT ALL (I feel like I just needed to stress that:(), but the other girls did, and I liked the story of their fight club in general
- FL's patchwork family
- this was literally me the first time seeing skinny jeans in a cdrama lol. don't get me wrong, I love the asian baggy jeans look, but I really liked the FL's plain outfits, simple but suitable for her :)
- THE KISSES (btw the first couple is dating in real life COULD MY DRAMA COUPLE'S HEART BE HAPPIER I guess no ). their on-screen chemistry was also soo good.

I don't want to make this too long, so here's just another few points I want to mention:
- the sound effects fitted PERFECTLY tho. usually I hate them because they go on my nerve so bad, but here, it really did what it should and made the whole thing funnier
- this was probably the second couple with the least screentime I have ever seen in a drama. it was even too little to decide weather they had chemistry or not :( also meaning that they didn't really have a story... kinda sad if you're like me, always falling for the second couple :(

Last: I was kinda surprised when I saw the rating, I seriously expected it to be higher. I mean come on, I'm pretty sure this drama's first-hand intention was to be entertaining, not to have a life-changing deep "giving us sth to think about" plot. Yes, they were plot holes, yes, we all might've had some "whyyyy tf is she doing that" moments, but come on, our lives have plot holes too lol, and if everyone acted rationally when being in love, there would be no dramas in this world ;)

kinda disappointed.. but not too much tho

I started watching this drama because of Simon Gong, and he was the one keeping me through it.
I have read brilliant reviews on this, so I had high expectations, but at the end, I was a bit disappointed..

-
* I kinda missed the develepoment of their feelings. FL kept chasing ML all along, who didn't bother at all, but suddenly he got jealous and falls in love with her too? Or did I miss out anything important?
* The cliche-like thing turned around too fast for me.. lol. Her family told her to marry, so she did (in a kinda unusual way but that's the story:)), and suddenly she's the one who demands s*x all along, and I was like okay? Really entertaining to watch tho, but cringy as well sometimes.
* I've been wondering all along what's with the father of the ML. He said he only wants kids if it's true love (...), but what's with his own father? I understand he wasn't part of the story, but there actually could have been an interesting background story based on that.. well, maybe that's just unnecessary thoughts but don't mind me lol
* Their previous story (how they've basically already known each other since they were kids) seemed sooo unnecessary to me. Yes, it's common in such cdramas, but it felt so forced and didn't contribute anything at all to the actual story :(

+
* But fast forward to the things I relly enjoyed! First at all: No cringy side couple(s)! Literally one of the first dramas I really enjoyed the story of the second lead couple, sometimes even more than the first lead couple, oops. Their acting was also on point, loved Garvey Jin's (Simon) amusing performances and how naturally Wu ManSi (Cai SiYu) portrayed her character.
* Though I know there's different opinions on that, I really enjoyed the last few Ep's, after the timeskip. I even found them way better then the Ep's before. Needless to talk about the child actor, everyone fell for him.. :)
* Not much business talk, more focus on character developement.
* The chemistry was so good! Both looked so well together, I'd love to see them in another cast together.

sloppy ending for a well written drama

I had this on my watchlist for literally 2 years before finally watching, and I definitely don't regret doing so - though there's a few things I'm not too comfortable/happy with.
But, first, lets talk about what I really enjoyed! One thing quite unusual for this kind of chinese dramas: the dynamics within the police team and the positions of each member. Finally a team where the boss is actually a quite funny and chill guy, no strict hierarchy, many funny moments. Also, the FL (who was introduced to the team in the first Ep) didn't need to prove herself first before being accepted and liked (which is basically the case in every other drama like this). Generally , the drama was a quite well executed mix of serious and dark topics/scenes/stories and those lighthearted and funny little moments here and there.
The cases were all written pretty well, many original ideas I haven't seen in other dramas (just speaking of the cases themselves), also more detailed and deep (one case usually takes up 3-4 Eps, yet it's still fast paced enough, I never really felt the need to skip).
I didn't mind the romance part, and to be fair, they kept it quite on the low throughout the whole drama with it considering that it was already pretty obvious from the beginning that both will eventually start to fall for each other.
FL's character wasn't really likeable at first, but she really started to grow on me as she loosens up a lot with time. Also, her outfits were really really pretty!

---- little, but harmless spoiler about the ending ----
Well, I don't mind open endings, especially in those kind of detective dramas, but... here, it was really sloppy and felt really rushed, it seems like they were just trying to fit the whole thing into the last Ep when they could've just easily done one Ep more (judging from the storyline only, of course). It's definitely not that dramatic as I read in other reviews but yeah, they could've focused more on what and who was really important throughout the whole drama and not just the last 2,5 Eps...

a love story somewhere in between lighthearted and deep

To be honest, after watching the trailor, I've been expecting this movie to be more deep and more heartwrecking as it actually was. The problem: Putting 15 years (!!) of story into 2 hours doesn't allow you to go into depth. That's why I wish this was a drama instead of a movie.

But, I guess that was my only problem with this. The story had its deepness, but it just felt rushed, I always felt like we were jumping through all these different years and different stages of a relationship. I really missed the "giving us something to remember" thing that makes movies for me more outstanding and special.

What I really need to mention: FL's crying scenes. Hands down, I think those were the best crying scenes I've ever seen from any actor/actress anywhere. My heart shattered when she cried, and I'm not even such an emotional person... :(
Also: Many touching scenes without being too dramatic. Saying more would be a spoiler, but many scenes were just beautiful, mainly protrayed by the cinematography.

So: Not 2 hours to regret, a movie that's neither lighthearted nor heartwrecking. A little plus: Li RongHao's ending theme song and the song "Tong Hua" they included in one of my favorite scenes.

just some random thoughts about this

1. Bomb storyline with the weirdest drama name I've ever seen. I'm so sorry, but if someone told me "You chould go watch Miss Crow with Mr. Lizard" I'd kinda be like "???!!" But seriously, why didn't they chose anything about his mechanical heart or something, that'd make such a great title uggghhh

2. FL's character is supposed to be VERY charismatic and VERY optimistic, but I feel like sometimes they overdid it with her optimism. It makes her seem a bit childish, especially when she talks so much... Already decided that I like the FL of My Little Happiness better, but still, Jiang XiaoNing is a character worth liking and sympathizing with.

3. However. Fair Xing is the best actress when it comes to facial expressions to me. Yes, the characters she plays might all be kinda similar, but she just nails her facial expressions everytime haha

4. SO LET'S TALK ABOUT ALLEN REN his voice is SOO SOFT omg?! I don't care if it's dubbed or not (I'm pretty sure it's not tho) and there's a lot of actors whose voices I like (like Luo YunXi, Hu YiTian etc.) but his is just on another level, it's sooo warm O.O (Yes, it's my first drama of him, but definitely not the last haha)

5. The music is one of best OST's I've ever heard in a cdrama.

6. It's much funnier and less draggy than I expected. There were almost no "supposed to be funny, but ended up cringe" scenes (yes, we know them all haha), and it's not draggy at all? (well, yet) There's always something going on in the storyline, it's fast and intense enough for me.

7. A cast with such pretty faces... Don't think I'll need to talk about Allen & Fair Xing, but also the second couple, and even ManLin.. I know, it's so subjective, but at least, I don't get these "ugh I can't see that face anymore" vibes haha. (!again, yet)

8. I'm sorry if this comes off weird but Gu Chuan's apartment is SO BEAUTIFUL?! Ahhh to be rich... T_T

9. I love love LOVE the SFL!! Her character, wardrobe, attitude, she's so pretty, such a great best friend, her taekwondo skills, everything! BUT: Here, I think it's really really necessary to realize we NEED to step aside from real life to fully give in to drama logic. Of course, it's NOT OKAY to chase a woman like that after she said no so clearly and often... but all in all, as I said, in drama logic that makes a great second couple story ;)

10. I think there's much money spent on production and it shows. Talking about the story, I think it's quite original too. Of course, cliché is involved, but come on, a drama completely off clichés would also be weird wouldn't it?

Oh, and does anyone know the name of the actor of Dr. P? He seems so familiar to me, but I just can't remember where I've seen him before, and he's not listed in the cast here.. thanks :))
(Also don't mind the rewatch value, I usually don't rewatch dramas)
Might do an update after I've finished, but idk yet ~

all in all a pleasant surprise! (but a few cons)

I have neither watched GGS1 nor is this e-sports thing my genre, but I decided to give this a try since it's Hu YiTian as ML.
..and I must say I was surprised! Though I didn't expect too much, something has caught me within the first 10 Eps, so I decided to keep watching.

First of all, the production looks quite expensive! The outfits and the styling in general unfortunately didn't do it for me, but the locations were great.
I LOVED the bromance of K&K team! I enjoyed every little scene of them, they never failed to make me laugh. Aren't they the kind of friends everyone would like to have? :)
Also pleasantly surprised with Grunt. Wasn't too sure about his character first, usually in real life I hate this too overconfident type of person, but somehow, something in this drama made him pretty likeable to me, which was definitely a plus.
Speaking of him, there was this thing about his relationship with Ai Jing. I LOVED their chemistry, they even had better chemistry than the first couple to me, and both pretty faces to look at... but something really annoyed me. Ai Jing was the oldest of them all, but always acted the most childish when it comes to her and Grunt. So much unnecessary drama, but since there was basically no drama between the first couple, it was okay I guess.
.. which would've been my next point. I'm still not sure about the first couple. There was no forced, unnecessary drama, which made it quite relaxing to watch on the first hand, but on the other, at some point, it starts to get boring...
I had a hard time trying to feel their chemistry. I can't even explain it, because to me, the acting was really on point, but.. maybe because the whole story was just a little too unreal? Yes, of course, it's a drama, but honestly, their love story just seemed too perfect to me, so at some point, it started to get a bit cheesy. But contrary to their kisses.. the FL seemed like a wall.. it seemed so emotionless, especially compared to dramas like "my little happiness" or "love is sweet".

So, all in all, this was basically a mix of funny and cute scenes, with a (to me) decent amount of robot combat scenes.
Give it a try if you'd like to have a chilled, pleasant journey of watching! And no, you don't need to watch GGS first, and maybe, after what I've read, it's even better since this will leave you a better impression then haha.
(But maybe I'll watch it in the future tho. The actress of Tong Nian is really beautiful :))

Can't be the only one who's disappointed ? :(

Feels weird to write a bad review in between all those good ones, but I was kinda surprised that so many people see this drama so differently than me?
I must say that I've tried SO HARD to stick to this drama and did everything to adapt to it, but sadly I just didn't make it :( I haven't specifically followed this, but I know this is a much anticipated drama, and because the trailer and some BTS had have me hooked up right away, I thought I'd understand the hype.
... But no? Somehow something just didn't work for me. The acting was great, the production looked okay, the story partly seemed a bit cliché, but I didn't bother. I must admit that gaming isn't really my genre, but I thought it wouldn't be that tough if the story was great enough, and I found GGS(2) great, but here, I eventually started skipping some gaming scenes, because they just were sooo unnecessarily long?! That's also when I realized I needed to skip almost half of the Ep at times.

Speaking of the gaming scenes, that part of the story kinda made me feel uncomfortable. Those scenes imply them 2 together in person, much personal interaction and they contain many romantic peaks already, though they didn't even know the tiniest bit of who they were in real yet? And it didn't seem like they would start to very soon. So, speaking of the story, it kinda felt like a little betrayal to us viewers to maybe believe in their chemistry? Or to push the love story forward that won't happen too soon otherwise? Idk.

Other point, WHY they had to make ML's love rival an old man? :(( For better contrast because the ML's so young? As if a man in FL's age wouldn't have been enough for that, I think the whole setting stressed ML's & FL's age gap enough.

Last, the music. I didn't find it particularly bad, but it should've and could've been better, maybe just a bit more catchy or just more special and outstanding, considering it plays such an important role in the story? I know it's really subjective, but to me it's just not comparable to the OST's of Love is Sweet or GGS2.

I'm seriously considering jumping on the train again when they start dating to not miss the sweet scenes (which are the reason why I initially started to watch this). Guess I'll keep watching some previews on YouTube to make my final decision.
