Although he did play the 2nd lead in story of pearl girl (zhao lusi and liu yuning). Hes done various small roles too in broker (victoria song was lead) as well as in put your head on my shoulder. Super excited for the drama How Dare You to air, and he plays the 2nd ML.
hes working his way up! although in the asian industry if you dont fit a conventionally attractive look (SWL for example), its a struggle. Hopefully he signs a big agency and gets a lead role in a good script/bigger production.
my fav small production drama to breakthrough this year was Always Home.

Well the reason for that would be its lower budget and less famous actors! The Male lead in Wanna Be actually plays a side character in Chen Feiyus drama Lighter and princess. Small actors are risky for big directors b/c they have no following, so they do smaller projects with lower budgets.
This drama has SWL, who has starred in big shows before, which is why it's surprising there's no promo. But maybe it's because he's been in some internet scandals lately! (Chen feiyu in Eat Run Love was also in scandals. He was facing heat online when that show was released. )
It could also be b/c the FL is a new actor. SWL's other upcoming dramas have more watchers stacked up, than this show has. They are also all with more famous female leads.
Unlike a lot of the comments, im enjoying this a lot! Yes, the tropes of him constantly saving her are repetitive but it's enjoyable! And I like the Female Lead! Her being spoiled and so reputation-oriented is reasonable for back then, when status was everything! Ofc a rich noble woman is gonna want the new trendy dresses and not know how to cook (they have 100 servants), doesn't mean she's a bum, she was very sweet to the (homeless?) town people in episode 11.
I would say if u enjoyed romance of the tiger and rose (funny, cute, fresh) you will enjoy this! And don't critique too much, this is not a high-budget revenge drama like Legend of Zang Hai!!!
oh if i was the male lead, I would've broken up so fast! She's seeing this "friend" behind his back almost every day. The car rides, necklace, vet checkups, texting, calling.......

yeah but compared to any youku or wetv drama, this is no promo at all, nothing on youtube, no tiktoks. maybe the focus exclusively on china and not overseas.

I wish they did the end stuff around episode 36-38ish so we would get 2 episodes of Yu Jin an emperor. Not a satisfactory ending.
