I have nothing but praises for the way Young Woo played the nutjob Lee Geum Son in "Mercy for None". I have been a fan of him since his debut. Of course I fell for his handsomeness, but I liked his acting and potential too since the beginning. I enjoyed most of his roles so far, really loved some, but this time I was actually very impressed, even more than for his double characters performance in "The Tale of Lady Ok" that was already praised worthy (and for which he was duly recognised). I hope he will keep surprise and amaze us in the future.
Amazing cast, brilliant acting, interesting characters, good story developments or/and plot twists, and of course a lot of kicking, stabbing, destroying tables and windows and blood gushing everywhere. What is more to want/expect from a Korean action/crime drama ? Nothing in my opinion, so "Mercy for None" is very good for me.
All the cast is very good, Huh Joon Ho is truly one of the best Korean actors in my opinion, but it's true that I decided to watch it for Choo Young Woo, whom I am a fan since his debut, and, well, he truly played a nutjob, but did it very well, I'm impressed.
You took the words right out of my mouth. It's Jae-Hyeok's sheer magnetism and presence -- in front of which I'd…
I really paused the episodes when there was close-ups on his face, to watch it longer. True magnetism indeed ! And that glare while making out with the girlfriend ? Oh my my !
Based on his Instagram photos, he his from the Snow White (or porcelain) Korean bloodline (I lived in Korea and some men really have a very marmorean skin, but that can become so prettily olive tone with a little tan... I just love that !). But yes, they went overboard in some scenes with the foundation, the contrast is too much.
Yeah, unless you watch this show as unintentional pure camp, you can't get far. But hey, have you heard? The drought…
Really ?! Thank you, that news has brighten my day. ^^ I didn't checked properly but there are indeed some Japanese titles finally coming our way. So really, thanks for your comment. ;)
I can't stand Ok Taec Yeon in sageuks, so I doubt he will have a breakthrough in a BL. I would even be surprised to see him have a peck on the cheek with another man. So "Soul Mate" doesn't really look good for me, but, we never know. If done well, "40 Made ni Shitai 10 no Koto" has all the potential to be a great one, I'm seated for the plot. "Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite" sounds like it will be the same deception as "Futtara Doshaburi", and so many others, but I will still watch it because I'm a masochist. I liked "I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama", so I'm looking forward for the season 2. And "Hishakai Shindo", well, we will be able to play your JBL Bingo: School Edition for sure, but, yes, still watching nonetheless. ^^
I take the recommendation for "Sannin Fuufu" too, thank you. Even if it's not good I don't have better for the time being so I'll see.
At first I wasn't interested by it at all, just tried watching the first few minutes to get an idea of it, and then... Choi Jae Hyeok. I'm hopeless in front of beauty. Such an handsome man. Not a breathtaking story so far, but it's nice and the dynamics between the characters are interesting so I'm looking forward to the next episodes.
I just tried to watch it because your review is too good (and the drought of Japanese BLs is terrible). But I knew what I was going to watch and that it wasn't for me. And indeed, I couldn't go past the ten first minutes of the first episode. Thai BL Land is a true disaster, I really don't know how people can keep watching all this BL dramas and be so serious about it. There are few exceptions (like, I hope, "Memoir of Rati" that will air soon), but overall that's just not possible.
It is supposed to be one, yes. ^^ But I guess the "29+" rating comes from this part of the story development : "The two will begin to monitor and investigate the scandalous relationships unfolding across the company."
So now they use slang to refer to a 19+ rated drama, and of course, there is no brain work from the author here on MDL that just translates the Korean news article as it is. Brain is a muscle that needs to be train too you know ? Copy/paste Korean news articles for sure isn't the best training...
For those who are interesting in the 29+ "slang" : "Aside from the dangerous aspects such as violence, obscenity, and specific depictions of anti-social behaviour, it also includes scenes of extreme cruelty, disgust, and brutality that would make even average adults feel uncomfortable or nauseous or even vomit. In short, it is content that even adults cannot or will not watch because it is weak or does not suit their stomachs." From : https://namu.wiki/w/29금
Moreover, when it comes to bad comments about actors in Korea, they only become defamatory for these agencies…
Woah, someone needs a Xanax. My comment is very general, and in response of another. It doesn't target any actor in particular, so you should calm down with "bully them to suicide"'. People are being really over dramatic. It's just my personal opinion, based on objective facts, regarding the way representatives agencies handle cases when there is some controversies regarding an actor.
Moreover, when it comes to bad comments about actors in Korea, they only become defamatory for these agencies…
Look, me, I won't call you dumb or nasty, because I don't need to insult people who don't think like me. But I will kindly invite you to study, and use your brain. Just check these kind of statements from agencies in the past decade and you will see by yourself that most of the time, it appears that the "defamatory" comments they will strongly take legal actions against revealed to be true in the end, or that nobody was actually condemned for it in the end (but for that it's best to master Korean). But of course you are free to think whatever you want. I don't really care if you agree or not in the end.
These kind of statements are slightly funny from outside korea perspective as this rarely happens this publicly…
Moreover, when it comes to bad comments about actors in Korea, they only become defamatory for these agencies when it appears they have some truth to them... The rest of the time, they just ignore them, like everyone else. So their intimidation tactics, with these statements, are really bad for the actors themselves I think, because it just had fuel to it. And usually, like here, it raises more awareness about the content of these comments and suspicion about the actors.
never liked the dramas yoona was in but this sounds right up my alley
"The K2" ? "Big Mouth" ? I didn't liked them for her but I think they are pretty good dramas nonetheless. And the "The King in Love" too when it comes to a sageuk.
Haha they need to appeal to certain viewers to build him a fanbase. Wondering how much of a tyrant his character…
The man has been an actor for barely four years, with only two main roles this year and last year in students dramas that were rather short, but has already 1,7 millions followers on Instagram... So I don't think building a fanbase is a problem for him. And Lee Chae Mae didn't show the slightest of his (very good) physique in his last drama, "Crushology 101", a rom/com, that would typically have included a shower or a bare-chested/abs revealing scene usually. That's definitely not the point here. It just goes with the character he will portray in this drama.
You can try Korea-Khitan war which released in 2023!
I watch all Korean historical dramas since the early 2000's, so I have seen it. ^^ But I don't think it was as good as the long ones they used to do until 2015/2016.
Not quite thrilled by the genre (fusion rom-com sageuk), but that first look of Chae Min as king Lee Heon still makes me want to watch it. Looking forward to his interpretation of the character, and Seo Yi Sook as the Queen Dowager too.
Lee Chae Min in a sageuk, and playing a king, is definitely a combo I want to watch, even though I still regret that they prefer to do this kind of fusion sageuk than real, long and good epic ones nowadays.
