The new full trailer looks so good. We get to see more of the different characters and that's very exciting. The two parts division is also good, even if the wait will be hard between the two. ^^
Hahaha, some delusional anti-Korea pro-Chinese wacko again. I was surprised they didn't come sooner. There is no point debating with these people, they think that everything in Asia is from China and is stolen from China, so you can't have an intelligent debate or exchange with them. They think Goguryeo was part of the Chinese empire of that time (even if it means nothing, as it was a very instable period for China, changing rulers and dynasties all the time). But they can't bother to be exact on the History. In another post this person claims everything in the show (costumes, sets) is stolen from the Qin Dynasty. First, the Qin Dynasty ended around two hundred years before Goguryeo was established... so influences can be found, for sure, but you can't say it's an exact copy. Second, Goguryeo lasted more than seven centuries, so over the Han Dynasty, the 3 Kingdoms period, the Jin Dynasties, the South and North dynasties period, the Sui Dynasty until the Tang Dynasty in China. Influence is certain, but it's also a common knowledge that a country/culture influence more others during a period of peace or over war with hegemony. Clearly the seven centuries Goguryeo existed were not peaceful and neither the best for that in China. A proof, King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo (played by Chang Wook in the drama), defeated a 30 thousands Chinese army with only 5 thousands Korean men. So Chinese and their supporters should learn some humility. Influence and cultural exchanges are a fact. Stop claiming it's stealing or cultural appropriation. Do the French go tell German or English people, and all Europe, that they stole from them in the 18th century because their culture influenced others when it comes to art, clothes and customs (all European courts were talking French at some point for example) ? No, they are just proud that their culture was an inspiration for other cultures and blend together for the better. Do Italians blame French and all Europe for cultural appropriation when it comes to Renaissance and baroque architecture, sculpture or painting ? No, they are proud their genius artists influenced other artists from different cultures and countries for generations. And it's only logical as these countries had cultural and commercial exchanges for centuries. The same goes with the Dutch, the Spanish, the English, etc. But here we have China in the 21th century, that can't accept that fact with Korea, Japan, India, Siam, etc. Some obsessed people just attack these countries, claiming they stole Chinese culture. Use your brain, because clearly, stating that is very stupid.
"They" ? Chang Wook is a grown up man, a well known and established actor, I'm sure he chose to play the character…
Well, you do the same actually. Because of course we read a comment and everyone will understand it some way nor another based on his understanding of it. You say we don't understand you, but the same can be said, you don't understand us neither it seems. And if we are many to not understand you it's maybe because you either don't express yourself well, or we just don't agree, and it's fine to disagree. But I won't stop to write that it's very stupid when you write something like "I will watch JCW scenes only and drop it", this is so dumb, and my comment is about this sentence alone, as I don't know your thoughts process behind it, it's not a judgement against you as a person in your life, but only about you writing this sentence here.
The first part of your comment, the logic behind it, just show how stupid people are with their obsession for…
Yes I know, but I'm still baffled with the level of stupidity every time. I'm a fan of Chang Wook and I love sageuk dramas, so no matter what I would have watch it, even if King Gogukcheon was played by someone else, but I'm not sad, mad or whatever because he decided to play this character that will die early for the purpose of the story. On the contrary, I'm looking forward to see how well he will portray this great king of Goguryeo. I know it's a wishful dream to hope people will watch with the same mindset, but I'm an hopeless optimistic. ^^
They should have never made JCW sml and kill him. A big and hard miss for the production. We are coming from Empress…
"They" ? Chang Wook is a grown up man, a well known and established actor, I'm sure he chose to play the character himself. Why are people like you always writing like he is some dumb who can't make choices for himself ? Your comment just show that you are not a true fan, because you are not interested about why he wanted to portray this character and how he will (because when you choose to portray a character it's never alone in your corner, so you totally ignore his thoughts and feelings as an actor for the other member of the production, actors, director, writer, etc.). It's just being obsessed with some celebrity. That's sad.
Thanks God some people still use their brain. I'm tired of these comments that talk about Chang Wook like he is a little kid or some puppet that don't make his own choices. He choose this role because he wanted to portray it. King Gogukcheon is a well known and respected king in Korea's history, it's probably a great honour for him to portray him. All these delusional and obsessive so-called fans are terrible.
Read the comments here.. Its true that the Ratings might go down after the first 2 episodes.. Because of JCWs…
The first part of your comment, the logic behind it, just show how stupid people are with their obsession for some actors. Really. If people think that way they are just stupid. It's not being a fan, just being obsessed and delusional. I hope people aren't so stupid. Even if, let's be honest, the ratings here for this drama won't change the face of the world, good or bad. People should watch an actor performance for its quality, whatever happens to the character. The fact that one's actor character die in the story told isn't something that should make someone rate a production poorly if it was good. And something that bothers me with all this comments are that they totally ignore Chang Wook himself. He choose this character, so he wants to show the audience how he can pull off this character, which is a very well respected king in Korea's history. That's what matters.
"Ji Chang Wook's death". What is this bizarre way of article writing?
It's not just here, it's everywhere, they always use the actors names instead of the characters. It's weird indeed, but that's nothing new, they do it for every single production, here on MDL but elsewhere too, even articles from medias in Korea do that.
It's the plot of the story, so it's not spoiling anything. Unless people are watching without even knowing what…
Once again, the first words of the synopsis here are : "As soon as the death of King Gogukcheon is announced". So it's not spoiling the first episode to write it here, it's the starting point of the plot. I really don't understand why you can't accept that. If it wasn't part of the plot and they just mentioned the power struggles for the throne, okay, the death would only by implicit, but here it's clear from the start, so it's not a spoiler, no matter what.
Is this another Queen Seondeok .., Empress ki? Another Historical with almost same story but The FL here looks…
"Queen Seon Deok", "Empress Ki" and "Queen Woo" are three dramas based on three different historical queens that lived in different times and places, and three dramas with distinctives plots, so except the fact that they are all focused on women and power struggles, I don't see the similarities in the plots. One is about a Silla ruler, one is about an empress consort of the Yuan Dynasty and the last one will be about a two-times queen consort of Goguryeo. And of course the stories are predictable as they are based on historical figures and events. And honestly, even pure fiction historical productions are most of the time predictable. Just like most of dramas and movies in general...
It's the plot of the story, so it's not spoiling anything. Unless people are watching without even knowing what…
Which synopsis are your referring to ? Because it is in all I read since the first time this drama was announced. Yes, there are people like that indeed, but then all the others should stay mute for them ? At some point, we need to be logical. As it is part of the plot it isn't a spoiler, otherwise, nobody could write anything about any drama before it's airing, not even the characters names, because it would be a spoiler for "people who like to start a drama with no prior knowledge".
This story is based on old sources, that are sometimes contradictory, especially when it comes to the brothers of Go Nam Moo (King Kogukcheon). Academics, now, mostly think that they were only four brothers, and that one of them (Bal Gi) was confused, or deliberately recorded, as two different persons in old scriptures.
The writer of "Queen Woo", based on the cast announced, seems to have decided to follow the 5 brothers theory for the story (probably to add more dramatic lines to it). Following that, this is likely the relationships between brothers in the drama: - Go Pae Eui (Song Jae Rim), 1st prince, deposed as considered inferior to his younger brother - Go Nam Moo (Ji Chang Wook), 2nd prince, crowned king instead of his older brother as he has all the qualities to be a great king - Go Bal Gi (Lee Soo Hyuk), 3rd prince, who wants the throne after his older brother's death - Go Yeon Woo (Kang Young Seok), 4th prince, chose by Queen Woo to become king and marry her, so that her family can stay in power - Go Gye Soo (Jeong Jae Kwang), 5th prince
The drama, of course, will take liberties from what is know for the dramatic purposes of the story. For example, Woo Soon, Queen's Woo older sister and court lady, is a character created for the drama and not based on any historical figure known.
