But this is not a new issue. MBC and SBS dropped the 50 episode weekend dramas. MBC and SBS intermittently dropped daily dramas. MBC and SBS dropped many weekday dramas. SBS tried 15 min ad break mid episode in 2017 but stopped doing it due to negative feedback. Now actors are asked to take pay cuts from the government. The drama situation has been in Korea for more than a decade. Covid made it worse. Youtube is not making it any easier too.

It might be shocking for you hear this but they're South Korean actors focused on South Korea audience. 50 episode dramas have double digit viewership counts even today. Its because its family dramas made for families to watch. Korea has a lot of older audience, so it works well too.
