Just so you realize it. It's actually about 2 months after her death. That's when the baby was conceived, and…
idk i think it's weird to pretend she lives in a vacuum where only her father's decision ever affect her. she's in an environment surrounded by people of her own class, where people had political marriages and prepare to have them in the future, know who they'll marry, where parents have affairs and divorce and remarry... you can't say she didn't care that she was a maid when she never calls her a wh*re or a gold digger, she only ever demeans her station as a maid. even the kids explicitly see her as below them as she was a maid. you can't act like that doesn't matter and that it's not directly correlated to her being embarrassed? the ENTIRE show is based on class differences literally from the soccer player placed against the chairman and you choose to purposefully ignore this. everyone is here like woe is jaegyeong but the treatment of the stepmother is okay? so she shouldn't have fallen in love? come on now. a bad thing is a bad thing. if someone slaps me, turning the other cheek doesn't mean let them him me again it means NOT hitting them back.
She's not trying to get revenge. She is after money and power. "The car accident and destroying others' lives…
i think saying the point of the show is that the protagnist is in the wrong is a wild misinterpetation. he did a wrong thing (made mistakes in how he raised his children) but people should be allowed to make mistakes in life without that correlating to being an excuse for murder and breaking the law? and mind you, they werent ruining their father's life - they were ruining that of an innocent man. INNOCENT. the hit and run started it all and you think bc they saw an opportunity to pin it on their shitty dad that's fine? much like the narrative we are centering the rich and forgetting the poor - bc who cares about the random soccer player? (this show certainly never did past ep3)
like she is not justified. she is not in the right. many are placed in similar situations and dont make her choices. the writers are portraying the chairman as a flawed man but that doesn't make him an antagonist. they're humanizing his children but that doesn't make them the heroes.
you guys took the "sharpay and regina george were the real victims" type narratives a bit too seriously and a bit too far lmao
Would you ever forgive your dad if he got another woman pregnant when not even 1 year had passed since your mother's…
i think i'd just go NC and sort my feelings out with a therapist before conforming my whole life and personality around hating my dad and becoming a killer but that's just me
i understand there's not meant to be a romance (as many stubborn comments keep reiterating) but the running "gag"(???? i really don't know how else to refer to it) of having banggeul continuously reference her father in a romantic context isn't funny!!!! like the point that she doesn't know it's her dad is meant to be the source of the comedy and what makes it ridiculous but it's just weird and creepy so it falls flat. maybe once i'd haha about it but over a dozen times it's just creepy. and for everyone getting so defensive over this critique with the aforementioned "there's no romance tho!!1!1" - how else is the audience meant to take her repeatedly getting flushed and fawning over the guy like a schoolgirl with a crush? and the repeated references everyone else makes bout them? it's okay to say the drama failed this bit, you can go ahead and admit that while raving about everything else - that's called nuance.

there's a lot to blame him for, they acknowledge it in this episode. but i dont think jaegyeong cared about her mother or their relationship so much. i think it's implied the chairman always loved banggeul's mother. jaegyeong was simply insulted he dared to actually marry the maid as she sees it beneath her to answer to the help. kids know when the parents dont love each other, but in her mind the maid is who you cheat with not who you marry. i bet this was embarrassing to her circle.
banggeul also had the privilege of growing up without the pressures and responsibilities of the other two kids, bc she was never getting the company, and her mother would never sell her off for a political marriage. she had it much better than the other two, and not just for growing up away from him imo
I doubt the location is A.I, they film the show on a real island, there are even behind the scene footage that…
i think i'm allowed to be "dramatic" about something that's actively ruining our planet, destroying people's livelihoods, making there be no drinking water in cities with data centers, amping up the cost of electricity, ruining archives of knowledge, destroying our youth, endangering the arts etc. :)
Same, ketgotyourtongue. There are 2 sides to SBS using AI to save 60% of production costs. I searched "What…
it sucks so much that it's costing the jobs of so many hardworking and talented people in order to create slop. i was already a bit suspicious of some kdramas (esp the opening sequences) and i hate that nowadays i have to look at everything with a part of my mind trying to figure out its ai. i dont want ai in my books, i dont want it in my movies or my shows, i dont want it in my music.
if they're cutting costs SIXTY percent the ai use has to be substantive. it terrifies me. also bc people won't care as long as their favorite actors are in it :/
OMG! I just saw the article! I had no idea that SBS was using AI in their dramas. And apparently, it's not just…
i dropped the doctor on edge so fast when i saw the title card about them using ai, and i'll definitely be very careful about what i choose to watch in the future. it sucks!

the background was definitely AI in a few scenes i'm not blind. just because they're physically on an island doesn't mean what we see on screen is 1:1. there were definitely AI enhancements.
i'm not familiar with the webtoon, but they could have put it through an AI program to get the script. i doubt every line is a 1:1 adaptation.
as i said, i lack the trust. but you keep enjoying it, i just wont :)
the show is proud about using AI in the production. i cannot trust that this beautiful location we're being sold is real (and many scenes in the first two episodes look weird); nor can i trust it wasn't written with AI either. while i am a fan of the ML, i dropped this.
cutting costs with AI is disrespecting the craft, crew, cast and most importantly the audience. i will not waste my time on AI slop when i can watch human made efforts that will always be better.
i hope actors start considering their projects more carefully.
i also hope it's done but it doesn't suddenly overturn the scenes upon scenes i've had to suffer until now. even just thinking about it makes me sick
