can you give an example of a rumor because all I'm seeing is koreans rightfully being upset over this drama and people spreading this.

unless you're korean, you literally don't have a say in whether the history is portrayed correctly or not. this IS a historical drama, arguing that it's fiction makes no sense at all because you can't just ignore a big part of history. i adore jisoo and i was planning on watching this for her, but after reading about how koreans feel about this drama i don't think we should promote something that distorts history. the show is indeed portraying the nsp as bad but it's still portraying them wrongly. listen to the people affected by this history please.

haven't watched this although i agree that what you mentioned is absolutely not okay, but could you maybe drop the comparison to covid-19? blaming china as a whole for the pandemic is quite sinopohobic itself, just to let you know.

that's... explained in the show. i have quite a lot of issues with this drama, but what you pointed out here is literally explained in (if i remember correctly) episode 3

people defending that this is deep and that the ulterior messages are great and mind-blowing don't make any sense to me, because it was (at least for me) all so clearly shown and explained what the writer wanted to show us. cults are bad, people will believe anything to make things make sense, people become horrible for their own benefit, those in power abuse their power, we don't know what afterlife is like, etc. there was nothing to analyze after watching this.
to me, the plot was flat, there was no character development whatsoever, plotholes were everywhere, the whole drama was so chaotic and the message it tried to bring us felt flat as well.
i do want to say that the actors did a great job and that the cgi didn't really bother me.

some might like this drama but please stop with the whole 'it's too difficult for the haters to understand' thing because it is usually not true, and people are allowed to dislike stuff.

please try to distance yourself from your favorite idols and celebrities, you don't know these people and you only get to see the image of them that they're showing the public. these people aren't saints and most definitely are able to make mistakes or do horrible things.

for those of you who don't know, guo qilin (the ML) is a famous traditional comedian, and his dad is too. so that's maybe why you don't know him, although he has been on many variety shows as well. he's a comedian and he has a slight tianjin accent, which is usually funny, so this drama will be comedy focused and does not need a 'handsome ML' (although i can't see how guo qilin isn't considered handsome?)

i really can't see why anyone would give a low rating tbh :( i'm enjoying this quite a lot and hopefully english subtitles will be added one day so it could gain some international fame

haven't seen anyone writing about the music, but it's really great! chinese opera is sung beautifully and gives a good cultural view on what music was listened to in that era. some people may not like it, but it's part of the culture and well portrayed in this movie.
