LIP tells the powerful story about the power of love, hope, and positivity, highlighting attention to Huntington chorea. The premise is powerful, but the execution is lacking. I don’t expect much fr modern C drama, esp. unpopular medical theme. The best part of this drama is the actors, both leads and most support actors, they really made this drama. LIP suffers from 6 eps cut right before airing, making it the story editing all over the place.

The star of the story is def LYX 3-Dimentionals portrayal of GYZ. A character that prone to become boring if not in the hand of suave actor like LYX, who always risen above his script. His extremely detail and thoughtful acting swept you to the world of GYZ, full of positivity, strength, hope and true love. There is not many drama with such a thoughtful ‘love story’ like LIP.

ZRN is good at portraying emotional scenes and I can see her potential. However, her kiss scenes are the worst I’ve seen in C drama I watched. Despite the absolutely sweet BTS leaked interaction during filming (not the ones the official posted) between them, she seems uncomfortable wt. all the kiss scenes. I would rather they have 1 good kiss scenes rather than a dozen dead un-comfortable fish kissing. She fails big time in this, which I also blamed the director.

LIP can shine in the hand of a powerful director and better script writing. The ending is for me is realistic and it should not be otherwise.

Hat’s off to LYX, an actor of a thousand faces. His GYZ is his best modern drama acting. His line delivery is getting better too. LYX acting is natural, layered, full of little details (which obviously never in the script). In LYX portrayal you see the character as who he is, never the previous characters, and never the real LYX himself.

Luo Yunxi, you promise to always improve from one drama to another. I always sceptical if you can deliver for each drama but each time I got a slap in the face, because you always improve. He is the only actor I’ve seen who has this rare ability. As you said “Under my interpretation no similar character will be the same”

I will hold you to this LYX but I also know that you have the ability to do so….
I can understand the reasoning of LYX taking this script, despite as I said, he can play GYZ half asleep. This is produced by CCTV and National TV and Radio association (NTRA) of his home town Sichuan, LIP is a tribute drama for Sichuan Gov. No idol actor refused being on CCTV, they begged to be in one. After 2 years of pressuring him to take the script, it would be harmful for LYX to reject a script from NTRA his hometown branch.

In all at least he benefited fr getting a whole new CCTV audience and it did well among TV viewer, rating is good. He can learn from experienced older actors, had 2 tribute dramas under his belt (LCR & LIP) that bring him closer for a chance to play in mainstream drama. Which otherwise reserves for those coming fr strong agency instead of a broken one like his agency.

No BL drama is being filmed anymore and the only one aired earlier this year was taken down aft 8 eps. (rumor bcs Youku took a short cut to get license)

Not only his dad is a good actor. The support actors in this drama are v good, the level of mainstream drama and not the usual romance idol drama.
Besides the lead, these actors are the highlight of this drama.

The biggest failure for me in this drama is the incompetent director followed by the scripts . For me the kiss scenes also no 1 director fault, 2nd actress.
It doesn’t help this is initially a 40 eps drama cut to 34 eps. As always LYX performance is above the script.

In the script, did she die bcs of the side affects of the drugs? or she had cancer - not as side affects of the drug? or she developed cancer bcs of the drug?

TTL cut is 6 eps. 2 by censorship another 4 by CCTV bcs CCTV doesn’t like long drama.
