I was flip-table angry when I watched the last episode for the first time, but after watching it a few more times…
I just have an epiphany - she has not died. The "soon" that Liu Yi Kang utters actually means he's soon done with his work, ie. reforms, and he can leave the court and politics to live with Li Ge happily ever after. In real life, he did that as he became a commoner. So this "leaving politics soon" fits into the narrative. From this perspective, this is a brilliant ending.
I don't think so.. it's because we as spectators and live in the present, so for things like this we think faster.…
Yeah, the only way to save Wen Bin before she's exposed is to change the education policy that Wen Bin's father and Lei Ao's brother have been advocating - education for all disregard of gender and family background.
I was supposed to move on but couldn't help to return to this page and found out something I totally missed before…
Shen Li Ge didn't die. She only drank regular wine, not poisonous one as we tend to jump into conclusion. She took away her chime (who could have done that except herself?) She left (otherwise why wasn't there her body lying around? Why was there no mourning by the Shen family?) She looked sad because it was a difficult decision for her to make to leave Peng Cheng Wang. She didn't want him to give up all the things that he had traded with so many sacrifices. She didn't want her father and brother to have died in vain. She has been living in their hide-away place, preparing meals for Peng Cheng Wang all the time (without any improvement). The word, "Soon" uttered by Peng Cheng Wang meant he's almost done with his reforms and could soon join her in exile (or whatever). I had misconstrued the word "soon" thinking it meant he's following her in death soon.
In a nutshell, this is a HEA. So folks, don't be despair. If you're sitting on the fence whether to continue, please do. It's a happy ending :)
I absolutely agree with you. It's totally out of character if she has taken her own life because she's such a fighter. And now, you've helped me clear the word that Peng Cheng Wang has uttered, "Soon". In this context, he means he's almost done with his reforms and he doesn't need to be worried about the country anymore so that he can leave and be with her for the rest of their lives. In historical reality, he was demoted to become a commoner, so it does fit into the narratives.
I just love Lexuan. He is the only one that knows exactly what is going on and his is really enjoying himself...…
Yes, I love his demeanor and composure. Even in times of trouble, he's still so calm and easy going, and can still be cheeky at times. Amazing character!
I don't speak chinese and I'm having a difficulty in the translation, I'm hoping one of the contributors to this…
Yes, to add to @Wanderer, the title "Wang" is also awarded to the emperors' brothers.
So, there are two meanings to the character Wang here: one is a family name (last name) and the other is a title aka king. The meaning of king here is quite different from the meaning of king used in the western world.
Feng Cheng Jun is so stupid... he saw her in woman's clothes and still believe that she is a man? And the way…
In fact, I think she's been trying to reveal to Feng Cheng Jun that she's a girl. She wants him to touch her lips. Just that he's too thick to think of the possibility that Wen Bin is a girl. Instead, he questions himself for his own sexual orientation. He's such a cute dummy.

Yes, this explanation totally makes sense.
