Check it out: https://youtu.be/l1dI9cGEp2U?t=511 I love Yibo in this drama; he's really cute. He was probably still a teenager when he made this drama.
That's the reason they needed the farewell concert, to move the actors forward, out of those characters so that…
I don't really know. Before all these, I didn't even realize there are 2 camps, each rooting for their respective idol. That's the irony. The fans love the drama, and yet, if they see the other "strays", they come in full vicious force in attacking the "strayed" person. At this point, we know both actors have "strayed". I guess, to appease these fans from both sides, they have to ask the fans to let go, hence the farewell concert. Have you ever seen such "farewell" concerts before? Never even heard of such thing for me. There may be a lot of going-on that I'm not even aware of. But this is my own interpretation of what is going on.
This is the thing. There are many different translations, all beautiful in their own right, but many of the characters…
"the story has not ended" refers to the translated version of the song, not from me; I wouldn't have said it this way, that's what I've been trying to emphasize because it loses the gist of the story which is the "old flame" part. It gives an entire different feeling to the song. I will have a more detailed discussion of the songs on the discussion post. Stay put. :)
This is the thing. There are many different translations, all beautiful in their own right, but many of the characters…
"Ling" means command. So essentially it means Wei Ying uses the flute like a baton to command the ghosts. The "Ji" character here basically means restrained. So Wu Ji together means unrestrained (Wu means no or none). For me, I find the Chinese title more meaningful to the story than the title The Untamed though it describes the character of Wei Wuxian truly.
What is the exact translation of the song "Wuji" because I found different translations and I'm not quite sure…
This is the thing. There are many different translations, all beautiful in their own right, but many of the characters that are crucial to the dramas are lost. For example, the characters "Chen Qing" have not been captured in any other translated verses I've seen. Not only "Chen Qing" is the title of the drama in Chinese, it has a very deep meaning as to why Wei Ying names his flute "Chen Qing" - it means old flame (old love). And in the Wuji song, the translated verse says "the story has not ended", but the Chinese characters say, "our old love has not ended" - meaning Wei Ying's love for Lan Zhan and vice versa. It also gives us clue when Wei Ying falls in love with Lan Zhan, so much that he names his flute "Chen Qing". For Wei Ying, he has to call it "old" love because he knows he has deviated and now he is standing opposite to Lan Zhan; he has no hope to get Lan Zhan back (so he thinks).
Worried that most Netflix viewers can't appreciate The Untamed. I just saw a "foreigners watch the untamed music…
I totally concur with you. Many non-Chinese, for that matter, Chinese descendants living overseas, do not appreciate the Chinese culture and cannot fathom the concept as laid out in the drama. I must admit I myself found it difficult to understand initially. But keeping an open mind without judgement, I fell in love with the drama pretty quickly. Of course open-mindedness is not something one can summon easily, hence, I'm not surprised if this drama not getting the attention it deserves on Netflix. What we see as beautiful visuals may be taken as weird by someone who has no concept of the "xian" (immortal) element; what they may see is weird robes with weird hairdos, weird rules and weird etiquette.
No matter what, I feel this drama has already garnered a lot of attention from viewers who truly understand and love it. Look at the 2 main actors - they are now the most popular actors in China, well surpass the other better established actors. This says a lot about the drama.
For myself, I'm having a hard time trying to convince my own family to even take a peek at the drama, despite I play the OSTs daily. They just don't understand why I'm so obsessed with it, and they don't want to know either. So what can I say.
By the way, I love your review. I feel you have encapsulated every essence of the drama. You're speaking my heart.
Just saw kissing picture of yang zi and xiao zhan... poor lan zhan... He didnt get even one kiss lol
That's the reason they needed the farewell concert, to move the actors forward, out of those characters so that they can start their new chapters, new dramas/movies. Otherwise, anything they make would be scorned by fans from either side. Lan Zhan's fans would feel Xiao Zhan has betrayed their idol, and vice versa. We've already seen how these fans fight each other in the open. :(((
He also kissed Joe Chen in Love Actually (he's really adorable in that drama). He seems to enjoy kissing XD. However, these kisses are different because they all happened before The Untamed, before Lan Zhan falls in love with Wei Ying.
Can someone tell me if the drama tell us what really happened to wu xian when he was trapped 3 months in the pit…
He learned a different "fa" (as in method). Since he gave his golden core to Jiang Chen, he couldn't wield his sword anymore, so under no way out, he learned a new method to save himself. He combined the use of the talismans together with his musical tunes blown by a flute to control the ghosts.

To tell you the truth, I don't use twitter myself. I've no idea how it works :(((( That shows how ancient I'm. I only followed a link from someone on this page, and I bookmarked it, so that I can check on it from time to time for any news.

Reading your profile, I'm pretty sure you're going to love this drama. Many of us have to re-watch this drama…
Obvisously WWX is fire and LWJ is ice, one look you'd know, their clothing, personalities and everything. It's the most beautiful Chinese drama I've ever come across, visually and in every aspect. You can compare them to any anime or manga, they're that ethereal.

Reading your profile, I'm pretty sure you're going to love this drama. Many of us have to re-watch this drama multiple times to fully grasp everything. So the naming part takes awhile to get used to. Many prominent clans have multiple names in ancient China.
I don't fully understand what you mean by "who he fire n ice", but if I were to guess, are you asking who are the 2 protagonists here? Yes, they are our beloved Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. If I get your meaning wrong, I apologize.
Have fun with the drama. We all envy you, because you have a long way to go.
