That was only one ep. Let her story unfold and then judge her. You are literally doing what she did in the ep.…
For me it's the execution. It's good to have a character who brings complexity to the disability storyline but it wasn't necessary for her to try to force apart Kohei and Taichi 20 minutes after she was introduced to the story. That's the part that comes across as a cliche. Having a character who's angry, imperfect and mistrustful is good but it has to be well written and for me the writing wasn't there.
ETA: I'm thinking of the scene where Kohei admits he's uneasy about other people finding out that Taichi is great. If Maya had responded that she never trusts hearing people to prefer the company of hard of hearing people, it would've introduced the conflict more subtly rather than have her go full on break up mode.
From episodes 1-6, I tried to understand Ryan. But here, he’s so annoying and useless! Irresponsible and didn’t…
Finally someone said it 😭😭😭 listen, I love OffGun too but Ryan is a terrible character and there's no reason someone as fantastic as Jane would be in love with him
a nuanced take on the judy-bamhee-tae situation? on this page? i cannot believe my eyes. finally
I blame Judy the most because yes Tae and Bahmee had problems and weren't behaving well but Judy is the adult and the boss kissing a drunk employee. She's the one who deserves the hate train Bah-mee is getting.
The scene between Judy and Bah-mee was gorgeously shot and acted and if it hadn't been a cheating storyline I would've swooned. But it was so screwed up, especially Judy's behavior. She's the boss, Bah-mee was drunk and Judy knows her boyfriend. That would get you fired IRL. I'm really curious about how all this will play out for Judy because so far the drama has been very realistic about work life. I don't know what will happen with Tae and Bah-mee either but I'm guessing they will break up in the end after talking things out.
When Ryan grabbed the wrong bottle I shouted Not This Shit Again. He's so slow and immature that it's causing me physical pain. I do not ship him with Jane. He's a child who isn't taking any responsibility for himself while Jane is a full man who's smart, has integrity and is great at his job.
ETA: This illustrates what a great job the director of photography did in the kiss scene, like I said it was gorgeous even if I didn't like the plot development: https://x.com/gooffgun/status/1822649350033740084
ETAA: I forgot to say that even with all my complaints this was the best episode so far. The pacing was great, the cinematography was great, everyone is putting in strong performances and finally the plot moved
If someone had told me that I'd enjoy the Bamhee/Tae/Judy triangle the most in this series, I would've declared…
I legit can't stand Ryan. He's so immature and (LBR) stupid that I can't ship him with Jane who is smart and responsible and looks fantastic in jeans. Jane deserves an adult not a child.
For real. I hate cheating as much as the next person, but everyone in the comments acts like they are perfect…
There's a difference between I don't like the actions of the characters and I don't think there should be stories about cheating. This was a great episode in terms of being dramatically compelling but do I like what happened? Nope. I'll still watch next week tho
I think I'm in the minority that's mad on Judy the most.. 😂
I'm with you. Judy let her intern get drunk at a work event and then took advantage of the situation, that's the kind of thing that can (and should) get you fired
Agree with everything you said and also wanna add that Judy should've protected Bahmee from getting pressured by the client to drink too much, that's her job as her manager. Total fail.
I'm having a similar reaction and it's interesting because I've enjoyed other shows with messy/red flag storylines (helllloo KinnPorsche) but because this show is so realistic and grounded, Judy's behavior feels way over the line and makes me deeply uncomfortable
What's frustrating about all the Maya hate is that it feels like people have forgotten this is also a disability…
My problem with it is that I'm weary of the straight girl trying to break up the boys trope. The story could've portrayed her anger and pain and also the rapport that she has with Kouhei without having her actively trying to separate him from Taichi. There would've been enough conflict simply by having Taichi feel saddened that someone else understands Kouhei's lived experiences better than he does. ETA: Having said that, all of these comments calling her a fucking bitch are not it. Don't use misogynistic language against female characters I'm begging you people.
idk bro, making the sapphic character a cheater isn't a good look for the community
I agree, I don't like the storyline either because Judy is her boss and obviously flirting with her. But people can criticize it without going to misogynistic words (and apologies for misunderstanding you)
