Actually Bright is 1/4 thai. His father is thai- american and his mom is thai - chinese. He is the mixture here.
Right, I'm not really commenting on his ethnicity but more about colorism standards and how having Tu as the heroine pushes back against that. I love it, I think she's beautiful and I'm all for tearing down those restrictive standards.

I'm tip-toeing into this because I don't want to offend anyone but did you notice that Gorya's skin is darker than Thyme's and that her looks are more ethnically Thai than his are? I think she's incredibly beautiful but her looks aren't beauty standards if you think of standards as bright white skin and more western features. I think they may have cast Tu that way deliberately as a statement on colorism and bias. I'm thinking also of the closet scene with Thyme saying her looks are average (in what universe??? but maybe average is code for looking like a real Thai person). What do you guys think?

U are right, bright weakness is the emotional scene (but the exploding parts one, like when he is super angry…
Exploding parts is exactly correct, adding that to my comment

He is quite good in comedy scene and in intimidating/angry moment. For the rest, it's a lot of miss for me. Tbh,…
Agree on comedy and scary, esp in the opening scene in the stadium. I get that he may not have that It Factor for you but I think the fact he has such a big and fervent anti fandom says a lot about the emotion he provokes, good and bad, and to do that you have to have some kind of star power.

To add to the ongoing raging debate over Bright's acting: He goes wrong in the big emotional scenes (ETA: or as @MyneAcc says the exploding parts one, like when he is super angry or super sad, or super confuse) but is brilliant at the quieter more intimate moments. For example, I wasn't much feeling his performance in his scene with Hana but he was amazing at the dinner with Gorya's family where he's just quietly reacting to what everyone is saying and trying to take it all in. Also he can reallllly turn it on in romantic scenes like the closet scene (and bless him for that).

The other thing about Bright is he's got that It Factor. When he's in a scene you're looking at him. He grabs attention. I think it's very telling that he came out of 2gether a bigger star than Win even though Win is arguably a much better actor. Whatever you want to call it - charisma, star power - Bright has got it.

I am not sure how I feel about the Thai version of Boys Over Flowers. All I know is that it would have been insane…
I would absolutely love this and maybe eventually someone will do a non-official adaptation along these lines.

I love Lee Ming Jung in BOF...i can't even hate her...am waiting how Milk will be as Thyme Fiancee...
The fiance in 2001 Meteor Garden had a similar vibe. I always like it when the fiance is super cool because you could see her as being a good wife to the ML except he's already lost his heart to the FL so it makes his choice more meaningful.

June played Hana absolutely perfectly. I'm so amazed with her performance. I loved that they had Thyme relate…
I saw a tweet that said Hana was Thyme's mirror reflecting back at him all the ugly things he's done in his life and I loved that.

I've never seen the guy before and I don't think valid criticism makes ppl haters or antis. Personally I've no…
He's amazing as an in love person but also in the scene with Gorya's family where he's sitting quietly and taking it all in and trying to understand them. I think he's very good in quieter scenes and goes wrong when he's in the scenes that require big emotion because he overdoes it. But he also has that indefinable something that makes people stars. When he's onscreen you're looking at him. It's something beyond his acting performance.

I heard that gunsmile will play as Kaning's boyfriend ..can anyone tell me about kaning and her boyfriend..also…
Assuming you're okay with being spoiled, the situation between them varies in different versions of this drama. Sometimes they get together and sometimes they don't. In most versions though her boyfriend cheats on her and dumps her and Kavin helps her get revenge.

It goes back and forth here. There was another bump in antis a while back. Just wait them out and the interesting people will weigh in again.

Well that ended fast. It felt like 15 minutes. My plan was to wait until next week so I'd have 2 episodes. I held…
I feel the same way about Jerry Yan's Daoming Si! It's because he brought a lot of vulnerability to the role. You really feel it in the scene before the basketball match when he grabs Shancai and begs her to love him so he can call off the match. But unfortunately Daoming Si also had crazy abusive moments like trying to sexually assault Shancai and slapping her hard across the face, so I couldn't be 100% on board the ship. Bright is bringing a lot of vulnerability to Thyme only with less violence directed against Gorya (which is a good thing, dear god)

We have to talk about MJ with his hair let down… He is so damn fine! Really stole the show in that club scene!
Him kissing his glass after he says everyone in the club gets free drinks was erm pleasing to my eyes

I'll be honest, I felt a lot of this episode was deeply silly (MJ's hacker squad and the yearbook being right…
Yeah I've seen her videos, she doesn't like the drama and has been way more critical than I am. I love it very much but this episode was a bit much with the Hana scenes for me.

He seems really grounded? I can't exactly explain it but he wears his fame effortlessly and he's so young to be in that intense spotlight, especially because weirdly he has so many haters. He never seems pressed about it or like he's desperate for attention. It's impressive.

I'm not going to try to talk you out of your (honestly, totally valid) opinion of the story but I'll say this:…
Yes! Part of the reason it feels dated/cliched to some people is because it invented all the tropes and was so hugely influential on everything that followed. For example if you're really into Kdramas you almost have to see Boys Over Flowers just to understand what you're watching and where it comes from. The drama Extraordinary You is basically a (very hilarious) send up of BoF .

I can't think of a western series that is comparable to HYD/BoF but I think a lot of fairytale tropes apply: Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Wendy with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, Snow White, Red Riding Hood.

While watching this you really have to suspend your disbelief at all times omg. None of the actions of the students…
I'm not going to try to talk you out of your (honestly, totally valid) opinion of the story but I'll say this: I have a podcast talking about Kdramas and our Boys Over Flowers episode accounts for 70% of our total listens. And now that F4 Thailand is airing, a completely boring tweet I made has 1.3K likes and 800 shares. This franchise has officially been remade 5 times over the past 30 years and has at least five unofficial remakes that I know of. For whatever reason, this story is a beast and speaks to multiple generations.
