Can't explain how much I love this drama... Its romance side, its comedy side, its drama side, its friendships, its serious plotlines... I love it as a whole. Even though I am rewatching it for the 3rd time now. I love every character too even tho sometimes they are really insufferable. And I love the fl. Tbh if I experienced what she went through, I would have second thoughts while breathing too.
Started it for Bogum because it was like one his rare projects that I haven't watched yet and I had my reasons. But the romance part was so boring (the story itself started so funny tho) π For the first time in a sageuk, I was interested in the plot more than the romance part (since Six Flying Dragons) Do you have any idea how serious it is for me? lmaoo Anyway, Kim Yoo Jung, you will always be THE child actor.
Stayed for ML and his sexy bodyguard (Kwang Dong Yeon you need to do more historical dramas istg!!!)
It was a beautifully tragic story, I am not even gonna lie no matter how much I was pissed off at their relationship's tides but their acting kept me up. Especially Park Minyoung, I heard she said she had to cry atleast once every ep and it was exhausting π
But also I realized they are the king and the deposed queen from Janggeum's Dreams π I remember shipping and crying for them even as a kid.
To me, this story's the most evil man is Chae Kyung's father. He died for a psycho king, leaving his daughter behind, destroying his whole family, knowing it will hurt his daughter in more than one way.
In this drama, Da Hae is supposed to be younger than Gwi Ju, but her appearance and personality seem like sheβs…
Because girlie never had a real happiness in her whole life until she met Gwiju. Gwiju's hell started only 7 years ago but she was always in that hell. And it is not like she was waiting for someone to end this, while Gwiju was in depression. She had to mature, considering she is a con artist too.
Just watched that movie they were talking about in ep 10 and the cardigan scene happens at 37:00 and he probably went to the exact moment they started watching the movie so Dahae and her uncle had like 40 minutes and it was enough (I think)
And it made me realize that he can go back in time to the exact moments he considered these memories as happy ones. He doesn't have control.
this is really good guys, I just binged 8 eps last week, and now this week, a little disappointed in ep 10, like…
The outfit he had when he went back to the moment to tell Dahae where Ina was and looked at her affectionately was the same as he was wearing when he was looking at the lake where Dahae "went missing" and was being miserable. So I guess it isn't that much important to analyze.
"I want him to be alive and miserable rather than happy and dead" is the main point of episode 10 and I find it QUITE INTERESTING. It is extremely selfish and self-centered for Dahae even if she did it "for Gwiju" in everyone's eyes. She is self-hating. She doesn't think someone would sacrifice themselves for her sake or love her sincerely because she never experienced it. Imagine your first warm memory of your childhood is when a stranger bought you some dessert. It shows itself in her conversation with her mom in ep 9. She wanted to stay with her foster mom because she wanted to feel loved by her even if she was her dead daughter's substitute. But she still stays with her after realizing she will not feel that love because she is self-hating.
To be honest there are still a lot of points we can talk about Dahae's psychology and character. It's been a while since I saw a kdrama female lead that complex and grey.
Tbh she told him to watch the movie. And he did. He was gonna watch it till he figured the cardigan's color so…
To see the exact scene the photo was taken and not miss it, he should have gotten back to the moment they started watching it. It only took like 10-15 minutes for Dahae and her uncle to set up everything anyway she wasn't worried+ they tied the car with a rope at first so the car wouldn't fall and he would be safe when he returned.
And you are right abt the last part but I guess he was just so happy he didn't think something like this would happen twice.
THE WAY HE COULDN'T SEE HIS SON'S BIRTH AND IT ISN'T A HAPPY MEMORY FOR HIM NOW...

One of my biggest red flags is that I actually love this drama on an unhealthy level.
Can't even explain how much I loved it!!!
