I agree with you I have seen a lot of comments where people are talking about the actors themselves which are wrong. For example, if I can't stand a character in a drama I always say FL or ML character giving your opinion about the role the actor is playing and not the person. I think viewers can Criticize the character if you find fault with it. A lot of fans don't know the difference between the actor and a character.
Both already look good together the actor is tall, handsome and sculpted clothes fit him like a model, hopefully, we get more romance and it close to the novel not too much cut.
For those who talking he is not a big star to act with her are crazy. First of all, he is an amazing actor who knows his craft 👏. He just has not been lucky to be a traffic star like some of your faves and just because you're a traffic star doesn't mean you can act.

Just as when we don't like an actor we will say the worst about them or the drama they acted in. So as viewers, we play a big part in making an actor/actress a traffic star with their PR Team and the media they got behind them.
The same applies to not-so-popular actors and actresses if we hate on them and they have low ratings, and don't have the PR and big media machine or a backer which director is going to keep giving them drama?
One thing are have noticed about Cdrama actors most have rich families, big backers and investors, popularity be a pretty face or a feminine male-pretty boy will get you all the drama you want even if you can't or can act.
I see why the drama got a low rating in my opinion 7.7 was even higher ratings should have got much lower. Can these directors stop adapting novels if they are going to mess up the plots so badly? Every Cdrama novel that has been adapted to drama and the plot changes beyond recognized never does well with readers fans except for some non-readers because they don't know the original story.
Even for the non-readers they can also tell that something major is missing from the drama. And these novels have huge fans, especially with Netizens and some foreigners like myself.
What the (F) is going on with the second couple with more screen time? Who dumb idea was this if you want them to be know put them in their drama.
This is the type of tactic the production uses for new actors or actors to reach a bigger audience quickly. It does work sometimes but in this case the second couple story is boring and stupid not even connecting to the storyline. I feel like I'm watching a different boring drama of these two. The director, writers, and editing team were lucky that ML and FL chemistry together was good that the viewer stayed interested.
Cheng Yi has such a kissable lip and you add his calm acting style he is just a whole package. He always carries his roles like he is drinking water he makes acting seem easy. I have seen a lot of actors struggling to carry on roles or play certain characters but not Cheng Yi. A person can learn to act but some people are born with skills and he one of them.
Here we go again with Richard telling us he owns and is the Emperor of short drama. You can also see he is a good-confident kisser because he always kisses his FL softly and passionately.
