It's not racist to say that the Korean government/society is deeply flawed in this regard. Whataboutism helps…
It's also just an objective fact. Korea is a high pressure society where conformism and collective culture dominate. Obviously you can't generalize every single individual person in Korea, but it's nonsensical to not recognize this trend and see the very obvious issue at hand. Comparing it to other countries and belittling this real problem that Korea has does nothing but halt any semblance of even the possibility of progress.

Nevermind the rest of the drama, but I really loved the ending scene. It's unique for it not to be one with the leads, and idk I thought it was special

Yep, He goes to her wedding at the end. It's a remake of the Korean movie called On Your Wedding Day.

what does DEI is an abreviation for?
Bless. These people responding to you are completely ignoring the sociological aspects of this conversation and are blindly repeating what they've heard in the media and crying about things being too "woke."

You literally sound like an insufferable podcast bro. Talk about an echo chamber.

i wish they would make chinese historical dramas that havent got too much fantasy element going on like flying…
If you haven't seen it yet watch The Story of Ming Lan! No fantasy at all, it's a legit Chinese historical set during the Song dynasty. Not a palace setting but there are still power struggles within the families in the show. It's my favorite drama and an extremely different kind of historical than the ones China typically pumps out every year.

I don't believe that Deng Wei, or any actors, would instigate an attack against another fellow actor. Fan-wars,…
Also I'm a Xiang Liu fan myself😭 I loved the character and thought his actor was the most skilled of all of the male leads. I just hate when fans go crazy over fictional characters and start attacking real people. And for the record I think DW's fans are nuts too for what they said about YZ. But that was all on Weibo. In my original post I was referring to people here on MDL.

Well that's where we disagree. I don't agree that silence in regards to silly fandom shit means anything about what an actor really thinks. And I'm not blaming the ENTIRETY of Xiang Liu fans. I'm referring to a few specific deranged and very vocal anti-Tushan Jing/Pro Xiang Liu fans on mydramalist. They really should go to Weibo for such silliness. They JUMPED at the chance to tear DW apart as soon as the news broke. Meanwhile they've been spending months attacking his character in the drama and spamming the comments with posts about Xiang Liu.

Exactly. It makes zero sense for DW to do what they're accusing him of. It doesn't benefit him, what would be the point?? Now I'm not starting a conspiracy (but I kind of am lmao), but a large number of the accounts here on MDL who are jumping to attack Deng Wei already hated the character of Tushan Jing and were dedicated Xiang Liu fans. If that in fact is the reason for their outrage, it makes this whole thing even sillier and more sad. The fact that people are letting their personal bias toward a fictional ass character affect how they treat a real person 😭

I'd say it's like Love Me Love My Voice : mature and expressive boyfriend VS prudish shy girlfriend. I don't remember…
Thats why i said worse than usual 😭 She kind of always puts on that baby talk, but in HL it was like on another level lmao and that paired with the super childish character and then pairing her with a mature older brother type who she always called gege. *shudders* it was too much for me at my big age. I can see the appeal for teenagers tho. In LLTG her voice was still goofy lol but i liked her character a lot and the story was good so i got past it.

Oh yeah I don't need it to be sexy or have a bunch of skinship, just everything about Hidden Love was clearly geared towards younger girls. Nothing wrong with that, but it wasn't for me. I'm gonna give it a try, thank you for your response!
