Standard BL series

Reviews show really high scores (titles read; remarkable, a masterpiece, life changing- -so I watched it...), I'm more critical. I found the show pretty standard, no surprises. I did a lot of fast forwarding through all the food and eating scenes-- there were a lot! I'm glad the directors moved past the trope of viewing girls as 'less than', but I was REALLY disappointed when ML said "I thought you said you didn't like boys" and the other one replied "Because it's you."
The music should have been something more current for a younger audience, I didn't think orchestra matched the mood and sometimes it was louder than the dialog.
I watched it on WeTV

Its a cute story, all the characters are adults, and theres no fake kissing (cringe) I liked that most of the story centers around a group of friends that care about each other. We get the one girl whose really manipulative, someone we could hate on ;-) I dont know if it was the script, the director, or the actors but sometimes there would be awkward pauses. Otherwise, its pretty easy to get involved in the story. I liked most of the characters. There was a professor who shamed Korn for being gay & accused him of trying to ruin the family reputation. After she cemented her attitude into the storyline I started fast forwarding her scenes with Phu. Too bad cuz Phu seemed like a pretty cool guy.

Typical

Like so many K-dramas, its better to stop at episode 4 or 5. In this series the cute-ness and comedy has worn off by then.
The characters didnt develop and the story line drags. To stay interested I concentrated on the make-up and costumes- which always looked brand new (am I the only one that notices that? Also- its weird when you can tell the men are wearing lipstick)There wasnt a very big cast to populate the palace and a couple scenes looked like they were filmed at a public park. I had to remind myself that this was a period sit-com not an epic historical drama. This wasnt my cup of tea.

Read the reviews on the 'cut' version.

For a series created in 2023 I would think the BL film industry and audience would have a higher standard. This story was very shallow even though the subject matter was about some serious subjects: abuse in all forms. I watched all eps waiting for a deeper story to emerge, instead the quick examples of abuse seemed to just be 'rage bait'. Mom does a good job of spitting out all that vitriol. The actors werent given much to work with so I cant blame them for the poor acting. EXCEPT James. This person should NOT have had a main role. Him looking stiff and blank does not create a feeling of poignancy.
Also, the pacing in most scenes was poor, I thought I had the playback speed set incorrectly on youtube. Nope, it was the directors fault. I can forgive a few continuity mistakes but whats the point of dragging each scene out?
I started a 2018 Taiwanese series** that was SOOOOOO much better, so why did so many people think this Bed Friend was good? The music was orchestra- loud, intrusive, and irritating. If this show was for the younger audience, shouldnt the music have reflected that? I would recommend avoid this show.

I couldnt get into this, seemed like it dragged on and on. Never thought acoustic guitar could make something boring, but it did. I dropped this in the middle of episode 7, I couldnt see how Mork & Tee's relationship ever became 'love'. There was a lot of nothing happening & I saw some continuity issues. SPOILER...............................................................................................................................................................
ONE example of why so many rated this low;
They announce their 'gay' relationship (fake) at school. Post it on facebook, feed each other in the cafeteria, and THEN in a later episode, all of a sudden its a BIG DEAL that everyone knows they're together?? Tee tells Mork they wont get past hugs & kisses (very little of those). Not long after, Mork gets really angry at Tee for buying condoms. Wasted too much of my time already.........

The story line was ridiculous and shallow, as are the characters. I forced myself to watch 2.5 episodes and couldnt bring myself to care about ANYONE in the story (well, I did cringe when I saw Pond, but it was just a cameo). I'm probably not the target audience for this type of show I wondered if the studio had some contractual agreement to get all these guys some face time and slapped this together. The acting was bad. Maybe if they had more expressions on their faces, but it just seemed like poor acting, poor script/storyline.

I saw this title on so many lists I thought it had to be good. What a surprise, what a let down. I suggest you watch something else. If this was about weightlifting then why not hire an actress who looks like she has actual muscles! or even muscle tone!! This show was the epitome of why I quit watching kdramas a couple years ago, guess I should have paid more attention to the year it was released. The characters are all stock, interchangeable, boring characters. I thought the story was dumb, e.g: see MC winning a medal on tv then next scene; her struggling to carrying chairs to gymnastics hall & having a childish fight with a gymnast. Male handsome, lofty MC teases (bullies) female MC & flashes back to childhood falling out of a window & landing on female MC who is a fat ~eating~ young girl. The shame......... that anyone that doesnt look frail is portrayed poorly.

Since I rely on reviews, I'll try to get my thoughts on this show across- sorry I'm not very concise.... I found this boring and contrived. I also had a hard time getting past the creep factor of Sib using his coffee shop as a source for young boy hook ups. "Do you drink alcohol?" " Do you play Kings game?" " Dont fall in love with us" and then the 1st game- wow! I'm surprised young, innocent Pun didnt go running! I realize this is BL but that Kings game right at the beginning felt like over the top fan service (pandering came to mind but maybe thats too harsh).

Unfortunately this was a let down after the 1st season. The good: Noh's club still has that group fun & charisma. We get to see a little deeper into some of the members lives. Noh & Phun are still together. The bad: the flashbacks were a MAJOR part in this season. After a certain point I changed the playback speed to 1.5 on youtube. It got so bad I started counting the # of flashbacks, but after 3 in 9 min of an episode I gave up & started fast forwarding the flashbacks. Also, I get product placement but there were some scenes where an advertisment was incorporated into the script. It was very obvious, clumsy and immediately reminded me this is fiction, with actors, trying to sell me on a drink they sell there in Thailand. I kinda regret wasting my time watching this second season :(

I thought I could power thru the frequent goofy sound effects & random situation comedy meets teletubby background music but the show isnt much better. The reviews mention some serious subjects will be addressed but after an hour and a half of poorly written, inane dialogue spoken at slow speed, I gave up. The characters were 1 dimensional, so I had a hard time judging their acting ability. I did laugh about how Farm grew up from the clueless innocent to the guy who looks like he needs his mother to come kick his ass ^_^

I totally agree with other reviewers --- 1st 2 episodes were good, but when Knock turns a petty fight into a big deal, it wasnt fun anymore. Watching this you either feel enraged at Knock & want to kick him to the curb, or feel heartbroken for Korn. Thats not what I thought I would get after watching TWM. I'm midpoint in episode 4 but the Yihwa plot isnt enough to keep my interest. Cho is bland & the way Yihwa acts around James is so out of character, I'm afraid shes going to turn into the cliche female lead'. If you want to watch a silly show check out The Boy Next Door. That one will actually make you laugh.
