A good produce series but I like the chinese version Idol Producer a lot more, don't know if it's the editing or the contestants but it somehow moved my heart while this was lacking in that area. Also how they produced the songs in the chinese version was way better and more creative imo.
So basically the bad grand prince is switching the kingdom people with "his" people form the republic... Clever idea! I am looking forward to the resolution of this (whether the prime minister catches that her "friend" is/probably will be changed for another person). More than the love story the actual story is what keeps my interest.
Fun fact: In one scene it showed the shoes of the one who saved the young ML and I thought it looked like he had the same shoes as City Hunter :D I looked it up and they are just a little bit different, still REALLY similar (I know they're quite basic type of shoes :D ). Google 'city hunter shoes' (the sneakers) and then look at the shoes in first episode around 8:40.... Just shows how many times I have watched CH :D
They did great justice to the sport psychology concept. And the main couple's chemistry is just so sparkling. <3 Follow your dreams!!! On my way to find one. Let's see how long the motivation lasts XDXD
99% of the eliminations' time I was pissed by how many votes Cai Xukun got in comparison to the others. I had to continuously persuade myself that this is the concept of the show - who is more popular not who has the best skills (not that Kunkun is not great he sure is! but not like 2 times better than the rest). And I was really sad when the live show fans always shouted Cai Xukun so loudly that it looked as if the others had no support at all. I myself do public competitions and I am always glad when fans cheer on everybody not just the group/individual they want to vote for. It is really encouraging! When a group goes on stage and even though there are hundreds of people only a couple cheer for them it is really sad and you know beforehand that the performace will be impacted by that even though they might be better then the other competitors in many aspects. Anyway the program overall was really fun. Better than the Korean Produce 101 season 2 :D
What I find really funny is that normally we all complain that "high schoolers' roles" are given to actors who don't look that age and when for once the actors are the age they are portraying we all complain nevertheless. It seems a bit weird to me as well but I like the drama and the CGI is really good. Though it's like Chinese knock off Harry Potter a bit... Who doesn't love HP? I do!!! :D

I also quite liked the pairing but I wish the romance developed a bit earlier and I didn't like how Yu'er said that he would like her if she weren't so inteligent. Also I somehow didn't see the feelings from Yu'er's side until almost the end.
as a guy who doesnt like BL drama at all, is this drama watchable?
I don't like BL either but as long as you don't look at it as BL in your mind it doesn't really look like it is. I think if nobody told you beforehand you wouldn't necessarily think it is BL.
The initial episodes may seem unnecessary when you watch it for the first time but when you think about everything…
I didn't find them unnecessary and it sure is not in this drama only. I just think if those episodes were more exciting I would be able to enjoy it more and rate it higher. (but I still gave it a 9 :D) Because at the beginning they weren't able to make me fall in love with the drama and I even had a thought of dropping it around episode 10. I actually continued watching because of all of you who said it was worth it and eventually it was and I enjoyed the later episodes a lot. Thank you The Untamed Squad!
A good watch. Pity it started picking up the pace quite later into the episodes (about ep 20). I enjoyed it but I think the rating is unreasonably over the top it was on par with other great wuxia/costume dramas.
Good but unsatisfying ending. As they all simply admited they wrongdoings, got away lightly or commited a suicide I don't think the were punished enough. Also TOP suddently becoming so incompetent in the last episode was way too unbelievable... Excluding the last episode the whole drama was excelent though. 8/10
Oh man! I'm at episode 35 and i'm already feeling sad that this drama gem will be over soon. Anyone get more recommendations…
As for historical I would definitely recommend some older ones like Iljimae and Jumong or Warrior Baek Dong Soo , The King's Daughter Soo Baek Hyang and Battle of Changsha. I know some of them are longer but trust me, you'll be only glad it didn't end so soon. ^^

O.o I love the drama but the deaths/survivals of many characters are just sooo unbeliavable and irrational that everytime it happens I almost throw the laptop away!! GRrr...
Ep 11 (22) end really got me crying ~ TT_TT Haru's face when she said the line was soooo well acted. Like he was happy, extremely happy that she said those words to him and not BK but at the same time I got a feeling that when he suddenly stopped smiling for a moment he realised that even though she said it to him she still said the words she was written to say... Even those who are conscious aren't actually conscious - the irony really made me emotional. LOVE THIS DRAMA!!!
