You also believe that Jung-Won might become a villain? (Or already is?) I need to feel like I'm not crazy with…
Just watched episode 5, and YUP! I believe you're right. There's a class difference between them. I also get the vibe of envy from JW... she's definitely jealous of YC too.
You're right about Nansuk. She's the chairman of "Crown Capital" according to NamuWiki + the drama.
I decided that I like this drama, bc FL is a strong silent type and is going to wreck chaos LOL We get to see…
Villain FLs (and protagonists) exist in all forms of media and always have. They usually remain evil for the entirety of the drama/show.
Some villain protagonists win. Others do not. Sometimes it's in between. Sometimes they become even crueler/darker.
My theory: she will become evil, but not as evil as Chairwoman Gong or a few other characters. If she crosses a line, then she becomes irredeemable. ORRRR she can go from being dark to being grey. I personally don't think she'll ever be "good" since not a single character here is actually a decent person (except Ju Ha-Neul) lol even that sweet old Chairman Jin Tae-Seok is suspicious to me.
Some protagonists in k-dramas are villains. Nothing new. Villain protagonists have always existed.
He does! They meet as kids at an orphanage before the FL gets adopted, then reconnect as adults and start a relationship. He's always been in love with her.
I'm trying to decide if I want to stick this out and complete it or drop it and attempt it when it's done ...…
I thought you recommended S&L to me? You never watched it? She's definitely a fun FL.
Oh, definitely!
Yes, she is! And her campaign of revenge, so far, is delicious.
Most of the dailies I've finished are from KBS2. My first k-drama was also a KBS2 daily, Unknown Woman. I watched it on YouTube... and to this DAY, I'm still hooked onto makjangs. How are you liking Wife Returns? Any thoughts? (I can DM you in case there's spoilers.)
I'm getting the vibes of a villain FL too. This should be... fun?
She definitely gives off those vibes. She takes no shit at all, which I *LOVE.* But... she's using Young-Chae's name for herself and to gain her own power in the world. A part of me thinks she's jealous of YC too.

Tbh I wanted Lucia to be a villain, but I have NO idea what the hell the writer is doing with her. Kyung-Chae annoys me. ALL the characters do, the only one I barely like is Stella. (And the actress is excellent.) JSY isn't bad, but she's... a little off-putting here, if that makes sense. Like I LOVE her in Thorn Flower and she seems really good in Golden Empire/Empire of Gold (another villain FL story, it starts in the past [1998-2010], I really recommend it!)
I barely watch MBC dailies for this reason 😠they always fall apart somehow. I honestly prefer SBS dailies (RIP) or KBS2. I think I've only completed a couple... I'm definitely gonna rewatch Witch's Game, I'm currently rewatching Secrets and Lies (Shin Hwa-Kyung is evil and manipulative AS FUCK, I love her as a villain FL), and I've finished Meant to Be, Third Marriage, Second Husband, and Pink Lipstick. I think that's it lol maybe MBC dailies aren't for me either. I do plan to watch a few, though.
i stopped watching at ep 17 a while back and now just picking this back up at 1.5x speed (which isn't as fast…
I highly recommend A Graceful Liar which is airing right now. It absolutely does NOT have the budget or aesthetics of a normal daily drama. Also, we're seeing a villain origin story with the FL, which is also pretty new to me! I'm begging you to watch it because I'm already obsessed with it and the vibes are incredible there too.
I agree with everything you said, though. Jang Shin-Young isn't a bad actress (watch Thorn Flower and Golden Empire, she's good in both and amazing in Thorn Flower), but she is awful here. I blame the script and the characters. So the script lol and the pacing. It's all over the place. Either too much is happening or nothing is happening at all. No stakes, no proper development, it's just people doing things. I'll give the music a good score, though.
Secrets & Lies is good if you like a villain FL, Family Secrets from what I've seen is great too.
It's a possibility. So many people hated The Two Sisters (and there was also a LOT going on behind the scenes too, similar to Woman in a Veil), so KBS likely investigated it and decided to start from scratch, possibly. Then KBS2 redeemed themselves with Cinderella Game.
According to Wikipedia korea, the original title was "The Golden Palace," but the final title was changed…
Really? I didn't know that.
Also, I understand the context of "Intimate Ripley" now. Ripley refers to Ripley Syndrome, a trait of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD, aka sociopathy.) It's also a reference to Tom Ripley, protagonist of the Ripley books. He's a villain protagonist: a psychopath, a con artist, and a serial killer.
So this must be Cha Jung-Won's villain origin story. We're following a villain FL here (the start of one, right now.) Intimate could refer to the relationships she has/had with the different characters.

It might become my new favorite daily drama from KBS2 if things go well!
