no no wait- ✋️ he's got a valid point though. everything is really subjective. we might be the heroes in our own lives, but in some people's lives, we are the villains. if the story was from wei zhao's POV instead, then pei yan would be the villain/"mean" character. (and now i can see how the romance will start....)
all that being said, i find it refreshing how our three main leads are morally gray characters. not a single one of them is purely innocent.
i'm getting a vibe that pei yan is one of those characters who treat the FL really well at the start but later betrays her. meanwhile, wei zhao will probably be the opposite - starts off cruel but ends up being the only one who genuinely loves and cares for her. like the hero who'll sacrifice you for the world vs the villain who'll sacrifice the world for you

agree. it's my first time seeing hu yixuan, but just from here, i can feel that she is trying too hard to be cutesy, like opening her eyes really wide, that it becomes off-putting and annoying to watch. i wish she'd be more natural. (i'm also one of the people who finds esther naturally cute ;D)
unfortunately dropping because it's too tropey and i can't handle ditzy FLs anymore, especially with this voice actress. the hairstyles and outfits are very pretty though
for those wondering whether to watch, if you liked immortal samsara then you might like this one. the plot here seems to be going down a similar route as that drama

yup exactly this. what she always wanted was someone to rely on. it's just that after failing to find that someone multiple times, she became distrustful of others and lies to herself she doesn't need anybody as a defense mechanism. she's an unreliable character so i don't take her words too seriously
