Han Sun Hwa was the scene stealer for me. Great acting and chemistry, but throughout the story, the jokes didnβt land at times. I expected to laugh a lot but it felt more like a comedy melodrama. They promoted it wrong as an out-and-out comedy.
Han Sun Hwa is def playing the role of "Madame de Tourvel" the woman JCW falls in love with in the novel
My instinct says Han Sun hwa is playing an original character which was never in previous adaptations. The reason why it feels confusing is how the MyDramaList editors have framed the plot summary over here, which completely changes what character Nana is playing. Here they mention Nana as Hui-yeon, the concubine taken by Madam Cho's husband, who Cho won seduces, but according to various credible media sources, especially Netflix press release (https://about.netflix.com/en/news/scandals-wt-production), Nana is playing Hui-yeon, a widow who vows to remain chaste after losing her husband. Despite her resolve, she is conflicted by complex emotions and attraction towards Cho Won. In the previous adaptations concubine and widow are two different people. Concubines in previous adaptations were Cecile/Lee So-ok, and Widows were Lady Jeong/Madame De Tourvele.
Now coming to Han Sun hwa, very recently she posted two shadow pictures, one in which she looks like wearing an outfit similar to Nana's character's outfit and in the other picture she looks like wearing a historical high ranking noblewoman hairstyle or a gisaeng (entertainer/prostitute) hairstyle. Both Nana and Han Sun Hwa are mid 30s women in real life. In the original novel and earlier adaptations, the concubine was written as a mid-teen (about 15β16 years old) and described as innocent, which differs significantly from the ages of Nana and Han Sun hwa. So my instinct still says Han Sun Hwa is playing an original character.
Director Jung Ji woo must have made certain changes for Netflix adaptation. It's very unlikely he will copy paste the previous adaptations. Let's trust his process and all the actors. Let's hope it comes out great, adding another great work to all their respective filmographies. And to the MDL editors, please correct the plot summary.
I suspect she's the young concubine based on the actual story. Otherwise, can't see another significant character.
Yes that's what even I thought but the plot here in MDL (3rd para) describes Nana's character Hui Yeon as an innocent concubine taken by Lady Cho's husband, so it's confusing. The editors need to change it.

Haha! She has enough money. She is an entrepreneur too. I think it is more of a professional expansion as she had never done such kind of role and that too this is her Netflix debut. Although we have to wait because most articles say her role is an original role which was never in previous adaptations. BTW is Nana playing innocent concubine or the widow?

In early January she posted two shadow pictures of herself. In one it looked quite normal like a joseon period concubine would were (the kind Lee So-yeon wore) and the other one looked like a gisaeng or a higher ranking noblewoman. It would be interesting to see her mystery character because till now we have almost all the actors, including guest roles' character description except Han Sun hwa's. And about bold scenes, at first I was shocked with people discussing about her being the concubine because Han Sun hwa is scared of even doing peck scenes. She somehow managed to do all the intimate scenes in My Sweet Mobster which was mostly sweet kissing, hugging tightly and lying on the bed but The Scandal is just whole another level, that's Jung Ji woo level.
The only good thing about the drama were the cameos of Han Sun hwa and Kwak Si yang as a married couple. Fantastic Chemistry β€. Looking at the strong strike rate of Sunhwa reuniting with her former co-stars, I think we'll soon see her with Siyang in a drama or a movie π€πΌ.
Why was she expelled from school? What did she do?
Haha π nothing scandalous like other K-pop Idols. The reason was she exceeded the maximum leave of absence period allowed. Well after she joined her college, she got a call from the agency TS Entertainment to audition, and then you know she nailed it and became a K-pop Idol for girl group SECRET. So her class timings clashed with her SECRET events, so she had to leave her college midway to fulfil her girl group commitments. And also her then agency TS, has a history of allegedly harassing its artists.
Hi! RubeoleππΌ. You must have watched The Frog. How's it? because I don't want read other people's comment as I have seen people on The Frog page making unnecessary remarks even before the drama had not released.
