Didn’t watch Itaeewon for the exact same pre-sentiments I had in your review! Thanks for this, so I won’t…
You're welcome :)

I appreciate that!
I appreciate the compliment! Thank you! And you're right, I definitely can't speak for everyone. We can't all like and be in the mood for the same things.

I literally remember someone camp in the comments for DAYS arguing with everyone who doesn't like the romance.…
Lol! I totally agree. It can be fun to debate sometimes to see different points of view but people take it waaaaay too far!

That's the same thing I'm thinking! I had such a hard time finishing this drama but I didn't drop it altogether…
I totally agree! It was such a struggle for me to finish this drama! I knew I couldn't be the only person on MDL to not like it, but based on the reviews you would think everyone loved it. If I didn't like the main couple so much this would be on my worst drama ever list too.

Title A Piece of Your Mind Spoiler
Would love to hear why you think so.
That's not how the story was for me at all. The point was that they stayed in the relationship because they were in an abuse cycle (abuse then forgiveness and repeat). The mom wanted to keep her family together to keep her daughter happy and accepted the abuse because she thought that would be better for everyone, but the reality was that the daughter knew her dad was not a good person and said so, and her sister couldn't watch her sister get hurt any longer. The sunglasses were a perfect metaphor for them trying to avoid and hide their pain from others.

Everyone knew the husband was bad, but the system is set up so that people won't take things into their own hands. That's why the cop wanted her to say it was an accident. It was already clear that her husband was a monster, but she's still not going to get completely excused for planning his murder unless she said she didn't mean it. She decided to say it was on purpose in order to protect her sister, again thinking if she takes on all of the responsibility and disappears everyone else would be ok. Again, no one was ok.

The aunt wanted to take responsibility and turn herself in because she never got to tell anyone what happened and instead had to pretend everything was ok while she raised her sister's daughter, and THAT's what she felt guilty about. Her guilt wasn't about killing the husband, it was about how what she did ruined her sister and nieces life because her sister had to do her jail time. In the end when all is revealed it's the first time everyone is honest with each other and that allowed them each to finally move on.

An oversimplified story would be about a bad man who gets what he deserves. Their story is about 3 women finally confronting the traumas they had been avoiding for 10 years. That's a much more well thought out and written story with actual character growth and development to me. No balls were dropped. Plus, the focus was actually on the women instead of the man, which is great!

EDIT: Sorry, I thought you were genuinely curious about the contradiction between the perceived negative reception…
That's actually not what I said at all, and if you read more than you argued I wouldn't have to keep repeating the same point you keep missing (on MY post btw, not yours). You said how you felt, now maybe allow others to comment for themselves instead of trying to represent everyone else's feelings or judging what others like or don't like. I simple posed a question about other opinions about this drama. Why you have such a difficult time with allowing space for that I do not know but this is exhausting. No need to repeat yourself. I got your opinion the first time. Guess what? Your opinion is not the only one. Please allow people to agree and disagree for themselves. Healthy conversation allows room for various opinions.

And you contradict yourself, because if commenting on something you don't like is a waste, and you clearly don't like my post, shouldn't you take your own "healthy mindset" advice and stop. Seriously, do you do PR for this drama or something? This shouldn't be this deep.

Echo chamber? The drama was literally cut short due to negative feedback and ratings lol. Two seconds on google and the top of the page says...
"A couple of hours ago, tvN announced that “A Piece Of Your Mind” will be reduced from 16 episodes to 12 episodes, insiders stated that the drama is being cut due to netizens negative feedback and low ratings"

You can have your own positive opinion about the show but you can't make up your own facts about how it was received by audiences. And I don't know what "hate watch" means but just because I watch a show doesn't mean I'm obligated to like it and only compliment it.

So again, to have a show get enough negative feedback that the network has to respond and me only seeing positive comments didn't add up, which again is why I asked my question. Me being surprised at the mostly good reviews isn't just about my opinion, or people who liked it (we all have different tastes), but it's me wondering where the other perspectives are at.

It's just a better told story with the same theme actually. Both are about grief and healing. One story is fully realized with plot points and character revelations and development and one... isn't . No, "internalized misogyny" has nothing to do with it. The abuse is a complicated issue that the drama brings up realistically, I thought, because there are two sides to those relationships. It handled it well, especially the nuances in how to help someone who doesn't want help. I'm sure you can write your opinions about the abuse on that drama's page and if anyone wants to discuss that with you they will. Thats the entire point of the comments section FYI... not to be judgmental towards other viewers but to discuss the drama with other viewers. That includes the full spectrum of like and dislike.
