The drama seems even darker with the PTSD/schizofrenia hallucinations than if there were just the terrible events that happened. It evokes a visceral reaction - showing how mentally disturbed the FL is by the events.
Loved this drama! The ending was very fitting to their character - he didn't want to be Emperor (as an adult) and she wanted to work and take over the group. If the monarchy was not abolished, it would have been a bad ending that betrays the characters. Also, it shows giving up privilege so all people have equality - him being equal to others is not being victimised... The drama shows why "women love kdramas" and it's not because the ML is one the most beautiful men on TV - he genuinely respects the FL and is excited about and engaged in the relationship. Great acting from the whole cast.
For me yes I like that they get a happy ending but giving up the crown like why even fight for it to give up .…
Abolishing the monarchy is the ultimate move to protect his family - as royals they would always be targets. Also, he giving up the privilege himself is what removes the system of noble and base people, otherwise it wouldn't work.
Loving this - couple look great together and their chemistry is good! Hoping the Prime minister male friend doesn't become the biggest villain after going off the deep end because he can't get the FL...
NOW THIS is an adaptation - recreating the plot faithfully instead using the characters' names and going off the deep end into a new story! Can't wait for the war plot to start properly!
The cast was great - their acting was impecable . The main leads were so interesting to watch and almost everyone was trying to use their insecurities and weaknesses to manipulate them into the outcome they wanted but they stayed strong and protected each other. The ending was perfect - they manage to avoid the mistakes of the previous generation and are able to move into the future as equals as they wanted and were trying to do the whole time.
SO GOOD!!! Cant's wait for the next episodes! The changes from the novel blend perfectly into the new medium. The fighting scenes are captivating and fun to watch - I watch almost every one at least twice. The chemistry between the leads is amazing and their portrayal of the characters is exactly on point!
everyone at this point collectively agrees that he deserves it but I’m still iffy on the amount of suffering…
What makes a 'bad man'? It is his actions, just saying "I didn't mean for this to happen, etc." doesn't actually excuse what he did. At least if he was bad on purpose it would be more understandable. But because he constantly makes decisions without understanding the situation and consequences, hurting her when he supposedly loves her doesn't make him a good man. It is almost more detestable because he is destroying her but being "it's not my fault, I didn't know".
Great acting of the whole cast! I also loved that women could band together and fight the real villain instead of squabbling between each other while the mastermind is relaxing behind, which has always been patriarchy's strategy so women don't fight for their place at the table but for some crumbs of poison on the ground.
