On Blossoms in Adversity Jul 5, 2024
What a waste of talent! I am referring to ZJY and LYX, who are both outstanding talents and among the best young actresses in C-Drama. Still, it was a struggle watching this drama due to the poor/lazy writing. It's truly overrated. I saw that it has a 7 on Douban, and that would be my rating for it.

The plot is basically "women rock and the patriarchy is bad," and that's pretty much it! Most men in this drama are either useless, dumb, or bad people. The highlights of this drama were a few nice moments between the family members, and that's it! Other than that, nothing is going on, and countless scenes are skippable. There was no spark in the relationship between the leads. I literally felt nothing. What didn't help was the acting of the male lead; he had the same facial expression in every scene. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that! I don't know if that's how his character was written, but it was horrible, to say the least.

Are these romance movies?
There were rumors that he wouldn't work on dramas, but he has never hinted that he'll only act in movies, so there's still hope that we could see him in a drama next year. He finished filming AASOL almost a year and a half ago. He surely received drama offers but took none because he has the movie Decent Things and two other upcoming movies, both of which were in the pre-production phase. I assume he had to do that to avoid any conflict with the filming schedule. I wondered why he has been diving a lot since last year. It turned out that despite Wulei having just started filming Dongji Island, the preparation and effort he put in for the role go far beyond these past few days. He has secretly been practicing diving since last year. His trip to Vanuatu in June of last year wasn’t a coincidence. Back in April of this year, he spent his precious short holidays practicing diving once again in the Maldives. Besides, he had already started training in May, even before the booting ceremony. Regarding the other movie "The Decisive Moment", it took a couple of years in the pre-production phase if I am not mistaken. The director said that Wu Lei would join the filming crew as soon as he finishes filming Dongji Island. We need to wait until he finishes filming both movies to know for sure because right now it seems like he is on a movie streak with four consecutive movies. However, this is not the case because the movie The Dwelling by the West Lake, which was released after AASOL, was actually filmed before that drama and after Nothing but You.

Are these romance movies?
Not even a single but of romance xD one of them is historical war fiction and the other is hard science fiction. But they are two blockbusters ♥️

***Dongjng Island:
The film's story is based on a true historical event from World War II: In 1942, a Japanese cargo ship named "Lisbon Maru," carrying more than 1,800 British POWs, was sunk by a torpedo attack from an American submarine near the Zhoushan Archipelago. Nearby Dongji fishermen risked their lives to rescue over 300 British soldiers and protected and rescued three British individuals during a large-scale search by Japanese forces. This event is known as the "Lisbon Maru Sinking Incident."

***The Decisive Moment :
In the future, three Chinese astronauts, while returning to Earth, encounter complex situations and lose contact with the ground. In a moment of extreme crisis, they receive an electronic signal, and their fate is set to be completely changed by a mysterious code hidden within that signal.

For anyone asking about dramas...

With three upcoming movies (one already finished filming, the second just started filming, and the third set to begin as soon as the second is done), it's safe to say that Wu Lei is extremely busy this year and won't be working on any new dramas.

However, he will be free to accept new drama projects at the beginning of next year. By the way, he has never hinted that he'll only act in movies, so there's still hope that we could see him in a drama next year. Of course, a lot can change between now and then, so let's wait and see.

On Amidst a Snowstorm of Love Jun 25, 2024
Leo Wu’s portrayal of Lin Yi Yang in “Amidst a Snowstorm of Love” undeniably stands out among the green flag men on screen. For Yi Yang, a former snooker champ, it’s love at first sight when he meets Yin Guo (Zhao Jin Mai), another snooker champ, on a stormy, snowy night at a bar.

Though he's at a loss for words to express his feelings, his actions speak volumes. Yin Guo is swept away by the sheer depth and purity of his emotions. His gestures, though subtle, leave a lasting impact—from booking her a comfortable hotel room before a game to warming her slippers on a cold day, and even traveling halfway across the world to wish her a happy birthday. He is stable, supportive, proud of her achievements, and happy to bask in her glory. This relationship is one of equals, and it’s his unwavering love and sincerity toward Yin Guo that drives him to go the extra mile in his own life.

Leo Wu has immortalized Lin Yi Yang as one of the dreamiest on-screen characters, setting a high bar for what makes a perfect boyfriend. Hopelessly devoted to Yin Guo, his patience and endearing charm, coupled with those heart-melting kisses, make Lin Yi Yang the epitome of boyfriend goals and the Mr. Romantic many seek.

This!everyone else wants to pretend he's all lovey dovey but he's just being really weird and stalkerish. If it…
If you think that he is weird, feel free to do so since it's your opinion, but don't say that everyone else pretending, we don't!

I wondered about the child's voice too. It didn't make sense that someone unfamiliar could mimic a child's voice…

She and Lu Yu Xiao are both very talented actresses and are undoubtedly among the best young Chinese actresses. It doesn't surprise me at all that people want them (if possible) to work with Wu Lei: https://mydramalist.com/list/47a0XpDL

If it ever happens, it is going to be an acting masterclass with heavenly chemistry ♥️
