Just caught up and I gotta say, there’s a lot of weird things happening tonally. We’re spending WAY too much time with the grandma romance. I hope this is going to actually be part of the character arcs and hopefully grandma’s romance is not just a joke. Also the brother’s romance? Idk. I kind of want the plot to come back to this whole drug thing they’re dealing with which is like, a HUGE story on its own.

She's a plot device. Like a side hustle to get sh** moving with other characters. I wouldn't watch if you feel you'll be salty about her not being an angel.
A lot of hate for the world building which is kind of tragic. Like, bruh. I sure as heck don't want to watch 16 straight hours of two people romancing each other, living in some warped vacuum. I love fulfilling side arcs that reflect or build upon the main characters' journeys and themes.
Although I can see the whole stalker-killer thing kind of going off the rails, he seems to be dabbling in some sort of magic too, so weirdo might not be completely unrelated to the story. My biggest pet peeve is Na Young, but honestly, I think they're phasing her out nicely. She's demented and sinister and if her job is to serve as a plot device, I'm okay with that. Everything Na Young does pushes the main leads further into the plot so I'm not complaining.

This would have been a 5000x better movie if this was the case but unfortunately there was too much collateral damage, consistency in character set up and far reaching cause and effect situations to say that this whole movie was a delusion.

There isn’t anything to miss. I can guarantee you understood the basic gist of it. The movie is supposed to be an art house noir style movie that explores reality and perception through drug use, carnal pleasure and fantastic fight scenes.
Think of a 5 year old child who wants to talk about abstract ideas like death, grief and loss, but doesn’t have the vocabulary, linguistic skill nor experience to actually communicate what they think or know. That 5 year old child is this movie, Real. A sad, unable to communicate hot mess.
The reason why you’re confused is because they had nothing to say about reality at all. Even Nietzsche had to write a thesis when he wrote Ubersmench. Incredible philosophers had to explain their ideas through a thorough treatise, but what this movie does, instead of exploring an idea, is make it visually really exciting to watch so every scene you see you ask yourself “What does it mean?”
They don’t know how to use narrative tools like framing, PoVs, foreshadowing, allegory or basically anything else other than metaphors “reality is like taking drugs mannnn” and because the creators don’t have the skills, language nor experience, they want YOU to create the meaning and they want you to do the heavy lifting in terms to creating cohesion in the movie
It’s good and important to make your audiences think, but they’ve been aiming for “confused and bewildered” because they didn’t know how to intellectually explore a topic like “reality and perception”. So they just made it really sexy to look at, instead.
Great show but is it just me or is it really hard to sympathize with all three sisters? In Joo is so clueless it’s a crime lmao. She constantly seeks In Kyung’s approval and meanders without goal or conviction. But I guess that’s her charm? Personally don’t find lack of conviction charming, but it’s In Joo’s thing I guess.
In Kyung is beyond self righteous but she so easily concedes to saving her sister’s life with the same stolen money that she vehemently rejected meaning, she hasn’t really thought about what her ideas on justice and righteousness means nor does she seem to be willing to learn. Like, she didn’t even take a minute to think about what it meant to use the stolen 2bill won to save In Hye. Simply because it’s a surgery instead of a house or a career, In Kyung feels justified in suspending her principles and ethics, which means, she’s just lip servicing.
In Hye is truly so ungrateful I don’t understand it. Not once have they shown her be appreciative or grateful towards her sisters, even when her sisters got her hard earned gift money to go to Europe. She never thanked them, hugged them not even showed any interest in the gift she received.
All three of them are flawed beyond belief, but it’s only episode 4. There are 12 episodes and each one is over 60 minutes long so maybe some major changes are coming. Idk. Either way, I personally find all three of them unlikeable.

I actually kind of agree. Personally, I think they wrote the whole marriage tangent to lull the audience into a fall sense of closure by giving us exactly what we think we want. We are obviously smarter than that though cause a farcial marriage might sound good on paper, but we know its not what the story needs.
If there's anything the writers/directors have established is that things even out in this universe and Naksu is an aberration. Even the Queen did not really get a happy ending, although she was returned her post as Queen. For Naksu to come away taking someone else's body (!!!) with wedded bliss as the lady of the house?? is a narrative joke esp when the thematic arcs have more or less returned characters to their rightful place.

I don't understand this prediction at all. They're ALL on the warpath with Naksu. I don't know why you've singled out Cho Yeon but rest assured, she's on everyone's hit list, including Jang Uk.
This is a huge gambit. If Go Yoon Jung cannot replicate the interpersonal chemistry she had with all the characters inside Bu Yeon’s body as So Min Jung did, this entire show will be a spiraling tragedy to watch. If GYJ pulls it off, the Hong Sisters will be geniuses for taking such a massive risk.
I'm like not getting it.. why is Han Su's family in this weird rut? Like, if they want to come home, why can't they just come home? They keep whining and crying on the phone?? Why doesn't his daughter tell him WHY she doesn't enjoy golf? How is their communication so broken? Why is Han Su so hung up on his daughter's career as if she's his ticket into retirement? I don't understand his aversion to poverty while living like a pauper. Like they don't seem to actually seem to make sense as characters to me at all.
Personally, I checked out after the first 10 minutes and realized that the whole thing is going to be a hot chick in tight clothes traumatizing people into “wanting to live” lmao. Maybe if this was 2002 it’d pass. What were they thinking.

Chefs kiss. Perfectly said. It made me sad but it was bittersweet and made me realize that given all the nonsense that is happening in the world right now, its ok to watch a show in which things don't "go back".
Episode 2: So far, it seems like a reaaaaaalllllyyyy normal storyline tbh. It's so plain it's almost cringe. But the cinematography, the acting, scored music is really beautiful. It feels like an experiment of sorts, less drama, more experience? Anyway. while the show is nothing to write home about, it's just nice to watch. Don't have super high expectations and just enjoy the experience haha
