"racist "???????????You WOKE poison everything you touch.
lmao the trigger here is real. Let me guess, you're somewhere from south east asia and you'd rather roll over dead than admit that many east asians are ~extremely~ racist people.

I don't need to be woke to know when my family and friends are spewing r@cist garbage :P take a chill pill and sit back down. I can guarantee you, zhang ling he isn't going to fall in love with you for defending him on MDL lmao

The comedy is good tbh, but by a very thin margin. Frankly speaking, the whole show would have been better if it maintained the absurdist comedy throughout the plot and narrative. Because it is not absurd enough, the plot holes and poor non-sequitr decisions (especially by Chae-ni) come across as stupidity for the slapstick comedy. She does things that doesn’t affect plot, nor does it build character, nor is it even funny.

Chae-ni is by far the most poorly developed character in the show imo and that’s saying a lot considering we know nothing else about any other character. I mean Son Gyeong Un is by far the most fleshed out in terms of strengths, weaknesses and character development. He even has a whole husband-dad arc.

This scene with him playing the guzheng during the battle literally made me fall in love with him man that was such an epic scene.

I mean, yeah. Not a fan of the masculinity comment because WTF is that supposed to mean? Like, this isn’t a historical documentary smdh, these devoid people. But otherwise, more than the pore less porcelain faces, I find their (C-drama actors) lack of expressions extremely off putting. I mean even Japanese dramas are not so bland, facially speaking. And they barely move their lips when they talk. I watched a clip of this drama and it was just watching Barbies doing random shit in an East Asian setting, basically.

Rewatching made me realize how her mom was her first bully.
Omg yes. The mother is the root cause of all of this tbh. I mean sure, maybe her father is a dead beat but this has been going on since Ju Yeong was a baby and not even defending her child is atrocious JFC.

Women like that become toxic parasites that suck the living joy out of people around them. She was a shit mom.

Am I the only one who finds the SML annoying as hell? He literally serves as a tool to push the other characters and nothing else. Which, ok fine. But his constant gaslighting of FML is absurd. Like that mentality is toxic. Seo Jun’s account of events between Se Yong’s plan to go meet Su Ho and him taking his own life has massive gaps. He doesn’t actually know what happened, he barely even is part of the scenario at all. So the constant gaslighting is absolutely demented.

It makes ZERO sense to me that Su Ho puts up with Seo Jun’s constant wheedling and whining my god. What an annoying AF character.

Despite being Chinese I’ve never watched C-dramas for idk what reason but finally I was like “enough let’s watch something totally mild and easy to watch” and lo and behold I ended up watching Hidden Love. Anyway I’ve to say the whole thing felt like watching my family drama on screen, down to the Confucian “ge ge is protector” idk man it’s too real. In not a good way. I did absolutely adore Sang Zhi though. I’d totally take her as my mei mei.

Honestly the names being a smorgasbord of Indo-European names while the ENTIRE cast is *very* determinedly Korean…
I know?

It’s a culture thing.in Korea but also China and Japan. And you can’t refuse to go and drink. Unfortunately.
As I've said, it's considered workplace harassment. Legally. If you want me to provide proof that anyone who ever says "Yes" actually means to say "No" then I don't know what to tell you other than the fact that you've already made up your mind about what East Asia is like and no new information is going to change what you think lol.

I live in Japan. This is actually considered workplace harassment now lol it's like Showa-era practice to do this kind of peer-pressure

Just read that summary and I gotta say... what on earth lmao
Honestly the names being a smorgasbord of Indo-European names while the ENTIRE cast is *very* determinedly Korean just makes me laugh. It sounds poorly researched and lazily written.

it's the same as Manhwa so I think it suits them
omg finally. Yes I am here too. I'm going to watch it just so I can cringe. But maybe I'll be able to acclimatize to it by sheer force of will or something. At least that's the hope.

This may change later, but the pilot episodes for this show are pretty milquetoast. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what falls flat in the beginning, but I realized it later into the second episode that it’s the script. The writing is extremely… on the nose. A crapload of exposition and very little “discovery” for the audience. Whatever Eun Ho thinks or feels, she says it out loud. Same with the other characters. The script isn’t organic. But idk. Things might change. Sometimes really strong shows that start really well end up in this end of the blandly plot pushing spectrum so maybe the opposite can be true as well.

Very polished and slick storytelling, cinematography and general direction. It was really well put together. Did NOT an appreciate the cultural appropriation of the tatreez in episode 6 by “the bad guys”. Like wtf is it with these people taking other people’s cultural clothes and making a political statement out of it. Ignorant and uneducated.

Anyway, other than that, Lee Dong Wook was pure eye candy loved that, at the very least.

This year, Kdrama romance has literally not been great. When you see that Genie Make A Wish, which is very good,…
It's because it started out really high and enouggh people haven't changed their ratings for it to dip low. Everything from ep 11 onwards was a flaming dumpster pile

I dont know why, i think the chemistry between leads decreased with time. It was shining in 1st few episodes.
I agree. It is the fault of the director-editor team. The edits/cuts are random and mistimed, the set up for romance is lame. Pacing and dialogue has also gotten awkward/janky. Either the director-editor team got changed or they suddenly forgot to do their jobs. Either way, it's not good lol
