minning town aired 2021. I didn't watch but it was also popular in china. It's a rural type of drama about relocating and establishing a town. not those romcom or romance drama. So not my type. I'm not sure if it's propaganda involved or historically. Never watched it. but I believe it won awards or got nominated like best script etc, I obvoiusly sint doing its justice describing the drama since I never watched and only saw one scene where the actress cried and apparently that was the IT scene that got her recognition and applauds...but I didn't see the affect of it
agreed, also everyone thought the winner would be the actress from Mining Town. But nope. so many were bitching at the winner thinking she doesn't deserve
minglan is good. But I found zly's acting somewhat awkward at times. It's definitely the side characters that really carried the drama, or made it amazing. It's one of the few dramas, where all characters did amazing bc they are all veterans. Nothing gold can stay is ok, the fl reminded me of xiaoyianzi in pearl princess. I also thought sunli's acting, at least in the begining for the character, to be too much.
That's how china is, and I find it very superficial. I've read comments that playing jj's character is hard because choosing a young actress to play might not have the experience and skills to play the adult version. More experienced actresses might not be able to play the preteen since they may not look the part and they may not be able to play the innocent mischevious part of a child naturally. So 7 is the best pick. She has the expereince of an actress yet also looks the part of a preteen. I thought she played the an adolescent really well, from the way she walked and how she act reminds me of a child that's carefree and mischevious, one that's raised with love and doted on, as it was in the drama by her fathers and brothers. I think the beginning of the story, especially the characters, set up really well for the latter half. They have already built characteristics and shown their personalities as teens, so we somewhat know who they are in adulthood.

I feel like that big fl role is similar to nothing gold can stay which I wasn't very interested in. But I heard it could be somewhat similar to minlan, so idk. The other period, where it's about fl starting out as a slave or criminal and then becoming the country's first female official also have love interest with the king. I find that maybe a bit more to my style just bc I feel like there's more romance involved. While the other drama is more about fl's growth and her overcoming struggles to save her family.
Idk why she didn't win. Most thought the older actress in Gold mine or w.e would win. But the actress in nothing but 30 won. That drama was also very popular. But most said it's the role that was written well so anyone could play it. Plus it wouldn't make sense for 7 to win since she's a junior to all these seniors. Her fans knew she wouldn't win but was proud she was nominated and being recognized
As I mentioned already, traffic happens on a popular route. This can also transfer to acting and dramas in China. Popular genres of drama include fantasy, xianxa, idol romcom etc. When an actor or actress take these dramas or roles it means they are taking a traffic drama or they are traffic celeb. 7 purposely doesn't take this type of genre or role. She's doing the low key, skill showing type, for a lack of a better word since I don't think there's a specific term, not that I know of yet, to describe the chinese term. She's trying to go the slow and steady route, the route that will allow her to be in the acting industry for decades and to eventually give her prestige and high acknowledgement. She doesn't want the golden goddess award, those awards are just popularity awards. She wants awards like to Magnolia or golden rooster awards. She wants to be like Sun Li essentially. One that is acknowledged for her acting skills and praised and people are confident in her dramas that will bring in viewership and results. This route takes a lot of time and dedication and it's a very slow process. Zly started off in the traffic route and she's slowly weening her way towards the route 7 is going, but now she's going back to fantasy drama so idk. But her route is successful and she has great marketing team. Yz is still doing traffic route since it seems like she tried to get off traffic and go to the more serious route like 7, with psychologist but I guess it didn't seem to work out since it didn't explode like she expected. Traffic route will definitely get you to the top and quickly too, but it may not be long lasting. 5-10yrs sure, but usually it's the fans that watch the dramas, and another decade or 2 later when the actor or actress is old and can't do those idol fantasy dramas, then what's left of the roles for them to play. Public will scrutinize you for being in your 40s and playing a teenageer, or say your acting isn't good enough to play this serious character etc. So in the end, these traffic stars' career aren't longevity. I think 7 is doing good, she's the first and only actress born in the 90s to be nominated in the Magnolia awards as best actress. antis make fun of her for not winning, but they purposely play ignorant at the fact that the rest of the 90s actresses haven't even been nominated at all. Also, 7 is an independent artist, with no company backing or resources. I admire her for doing it on her own, she spent 16 years getting to where she is now. She's getting fl roles now bc of her hard work, and not bc she has a big company to pay for those roles. Also, she's not the typical beauty like zly, reba and ym, but she's still doing good. So I feel like it's bc of her acting skills and how she can enrapture audience in her character that's gotten her results.
Ok. So traffic means congestion of cars right. But in China they use that as a term for a celeb to go the most popular route that causes traffic aka fans (imagine fans as the congested cars). Doing idol fantasy is a traffic route bc it causes immense popularity.
I get asked this and this is the best analogy i can think of.
unknown, but it's a big fl drama. Both periods are big fl, but the one where the fl turns from slave to first female official and love interest is the king....I think it's equal big fl and ml (also reminds me of Chenxiao and zly's First Female PM. So I'm not sure if there will be comparisons when this drama airs. While the other one, Hua, is mainly big big fl, so I think the ml won't be an A lister. But the drama reminds me of Sunli's Nothing Gold Can Stay, which I didn't particularly enjoyed. So idk. I still prefer her in a fantasy. But seems like she won't every take that anymore since that's more of traffic route, but even zly is taking that type of drama with kenny.
I always felt it was a bit off with him. Like right off the bat i didnt feel like he truly liked her or had romantic feelings. His eyes didnt have that love
My friend told mr about it today. And i saw on wb too. I dont want her to take it. I dont like the guy and i rsther she take a period drama. Currently she jas 3-4rumored drama plus 1 movie
