sorry if it's a dumb question, but does anyone know why do characters have super goofy english names in thai dramas?

at ep11 and getting more sure that the guy lacks in the acting department... I mean the show has not much plot and special traits, so what carries it it's their mains, soooo it's a problem. the girl is great though, I love her! Even the side characters I enjoy!

eeeh so I'm at episode 2... and it could have some potential buuut it's so weiiird, because I don't know if the guy cannot act or the direction he was given was bad, but he is not fun to watch... like they are trying to show his phobia in a goofy way with goofy music and over the top silly situations, but he only has three faces -> smile :) not smile :| and kinda surprised :o aaaand that's about it... not the peak of comedy. like there are more actors out there who come to mind who have very expressive faces and can make even these very mediocre jokes funny, but it's not this guy. feels off so far.
