When I first started watching Kdramas few years back, I was blown away by the cold CEO and poor girl romance genre.
They were my go to for guilty pleasure,
unfortunately, the CEO's are not cold anymore. They don't even resemble CEO's or men that hold any sort of power. the poor girl has been replaced and she is not longer a poor girl.
There are no CEO's in kdramas anymore. All you get is a hot virgin guy with the title of CEO but lacking the authority and maturity that comes with that position. Anyone who has worked with men and women of power and authority would immediately identify these ML's as absolute fakes.
I have made fun of crime dramas as well. There was a drama where the bad guys were with guns and they were running towards the leads to shoot. It was like 'dude, you got a gun, you don't need to get into stabbing range to use it'. It was just stupid take.
Some genres allow bit more creative liberties but if they are just copy pasting past dramas in terms of building their central character, it must be mad fun off, just like how all ML's are exact copies in all kdrama romances.
No disrespect to other members, I am making fun of the drama, the writer, the director and actors, especially the ML, who is super hot and has to pretend to be a pure virgin.
One of the best romance in a Kdrama recently was in 'Moving'. The whole ML's backstory of how falls in love with his wife and how broken he becomes when she dies was brilliantly done. Even the FL's romance with the 2ML was better than anything offered in straight up Kdrama romance dramas.
Cheesy romances have their place but the best romances are ones with real depth. Now a days all you get a ML who is pure virgin, FL has more variations, there is 2ML who basically follows FL everywhere and she lets him and sometimes a bitchy 2FL. That's it, that's basically every kdrama romance now a days.

There are lot of non romance Kdramas I watch and like. Non romance kdramas have been my go to genre to enjoy.

It's pretty much one way street, a rich, very handsome, very capable, very pure and very virgin ML. In fact they have tendency to not even look at women, except the FL. and FL comes in various varieties, more often than not with experience in romance.
This drama is fantastic though. The comedy is top-notch and the ML acting is superb
but it 'seems' to the suffer the usual trope of extremely pure virgin oil Male Lead and FL who had relationships.
It's raining pure virgin male leads on Kdramas. these female writers of the Kdramas sure love their pure virgin male leads & the FL's with experience in romance.
well, maybe try to differ between cliche K-romcoms and Korean series...
Most k-romcoms have pure virgin ML's.
In fact the ML's purity and virginity is the most important aspect of Kdrama romcoms. That's the most important and central part.
Just read the synopsis of this drama for ML and the FL.
I can't recall a Kdrama in last 3 years where the ML was in relationship and FL's purity and virginity was affirmed through out the drama. On the other hand in last 3 months, there are like 10 Kdramas with a pure Virgin ML and FL with dating history.
The ML never got a sincere apology from his wife and her family for what they did to him. The ML was you usual simp for most of the drama who is afraid, jealous and never stands up for himself. The FL character fared better.
The drama was entertaining in parts, a one time watch 6/10
Drama should have been named 'Emperor of Tears' as homage to the tanks of tears ML shed over the course of drama.

If you are referring to men dating multiple women at same time, it happens and it is just minuscule amount of men who do it. They are either very rich and/or handsome. Women tend to throw themselves at these men.
but in general it is women all around the world who have more options. An average man with average looks and average money will not find a girl to date. on other hand, an average looking girl with zero money will snag 10 guys in 10 mins.
I agree that these dramas are fantasy and escapism - and that's exactly what we are poking fun of.
