How long will that take? He's up there in the hierarchy and seems competent (except for his waist which looks like it might break at any moment), she's got more serious problems never quite knowing what she might turn into. Hellfire ensues!

Just finished episode 55 and I've never seen such a load of frustrated people. Cang Xuan is at the top of the list. He's conquered the 'world' but even when he's drunk he can't work up the courage to tell Xiao Yao he loves her in a carnal way. It's practically leaking out of his pores and it didn't take grandpa long to figure it out. Xiang Liu is next in line with his ice cool demeanour putting up a good front. Just what's with a smart cookie like Xiao Yao not catching on that neither want to be her brother or her friend. The only straight up guy is Jing who's not afraid to show his desire which earns him a cuddle and a kiss. Cang Yuan's women are another tale of woe. With tantrum toddler Xin Xue pulling out all the stops in abusing everyone who gets near because being queen is no longer enough when all you see of your king is his backside (and not in a good way). Now he's marrying another queen who is just as stubborn but is going in with open eyes. Hopefully, this will help with getting her a little action.
ep 52, Cang Xuan is such a budinski, always hanging around and inserting himself in the lovers' lives. Jing is kind, affectionate, generous and should be more vigilant against the usurper.
Hilarious faceoff between the two suitors. Su Rong Qing is like the energizer bunny when he's always looked like he never picked up anything sharp, After being on the receiving end of a blade, he makes his confession and during a musical swan song remembers the good time had as the Princess' side only to go out in a blaze of glory. Moving forward a few years and it looks like everyone got to be with their intended. The main couple have married a few times and have spent years together but no sign of the offspring. I'm giving it a 9 as it compares favorably as it has an engaging, suspenseful story that compares favorably against a lot of the usual historical drivel.
I can't get over the facial muscles workout Consort Ruo adds to her acting every time the camera is in close-ups. It's so out of line with every other character as to be farcical.
The big reveal really intensifies in e 36. Little bro emperor has become a nightmore although I don't get why giving commoner more opportunities over wealthy nobels is so wrong. I guess with the numbers that perished it makes it a slaughter all around. The other thing that really bothers me is that the Consort relays it all to the young, reborn Princess making it obvisous that he was there as a powerful official right next to the Emperor and didn't seem to do anything to stop him at the time. Now he's leaving it up to sister Princess to decide if she should stop her brother before the massacre. All the side characters get to either hear of tell their version of what happened to them during this horrendous reign lasting for decades. Now here we are. What next?
What an episode (34). I was left kind of out of it after all those revelations in the cave about the projectory of how the Princess' death occurred and the many machinations that lead to her demise. She now seems to want to change history and take actions against her brother. Lo and behold the Consort finds out she's pregnant even after falling off a cliff. In other dramas women stumbled over a door sill or off a step and the camera closed in on a spot of blood in their nether regions.
Besides having a weird sense of humor Xiang Liu is also quite wise telling her to trust her mother's judgment about the devil everyong says is her father.
I guess we could stop after ep 9 as this looks like the happy ending we've been waiting for. It seems Cang Xuan is happy to receive the herbal encyclopedia and might give her a break for a while. The only one not happy is the guy in the clamshell who is drowning his sorrow. The bad couple were punished, although his brother got off lightly. So what's in the future?

Whether they are first or second cousins is irrelevant to me. She obviously has always thought of him as her 'brother' and calls him that. His behaviour is obsessive and sickening, even grandpa thinks so.
Just read a question about which of her admirers had more chemistry with Xiaoyao. So my answers are of course it's Xiang Liu because he is Xiang Liu a fascinating character brought out by a very good actor, but the relationship is too sadomasochistic for my taste. Fenglong isn't even in the running here. Cang Xuan has over time developed into a thoroughly unlikable character who is controlling and sickly obsesses with a woman who calls him 'brother' and thinks of him in that way (grandpa doesn't like it either). Now then, Tushan Jin is so devoted to her to become something of a 'wet rag' at time, but he is damaged physically and mentally by his scheming 'wife' and brother so when he shows courage and some backbone it's impressive. I believe in Xiaoyao's intelligence and compassion and their love for each other.
Episode 8 (47) where Princess is pulling out all the stops to get to the bottom of who set up Jing and punish them. Loving the begonia flower banquet and all the verbal fights. As usual, Cuan Xuan is making an a$$ out of himself with his jealous tantrums. Why can't she see how immature and cadish he behaves.
I was wondering when the slow-acting, non-detectable poison in Consort Ruo's soup would raise its ugly head. Now his Majesty has temporary blindness. What's next? She's an evil plotter with a smiley face.
