What is the next drama we are invading? Seems most of us are into the same dramas.
Just rewatched The Legend of Ming'lan and it's tempting to watch The Legend of Shenli just for her, but I'm not a fan of the male lead and it looks like there is just so much Xenxia CGI when I prefer more intimate historical settings.
I'm a Jeremy Tsui super fan and loved Autumn Ballad. I forgot he was in Legend of the Phoenix was going to rewatch it but that main couple's relationship is so sado-masochistic it's hard to take. I"m enjoying this light-hearted drama and think all the leads are doing a good job. But, there's 14 episodes to go for me, so who knows.

That you've tried these medications is so interesting. I usually just get some powders or capsules from my Chinese acupuncturist. I did have a good naturopath who did acupuncture as well and would give tinctures for ailments. Sadly, he is no longer practicing. Be well and let's keep enjoying our Cdramas.

Agreed. There are some other tropes I find odd/hilarious. Most wounds get treated with some kind of powder but not much of it sticks to the cut. Some cut wounds don't get treated and are wrapped over top of the clothes. Herbal medicine gets brewed for hours into some black liquid put in a big bowl but nobody ever takes more than two spoonfuls. Who can blame them it's always bitter and if you're lucky you get to such on something sweet. When characters fall into unconsciousness they are always out for three days but seem to survive no food or drink and certainly don't seem to need toileting. Anybody with a steady cough (unless it's a pretend one) won't last very long. Spitting up blood is terminal, unless it's the hero. This pretty much goes for poison too. Everything can be diagnosed by reading your pulse. If you're lucky one or two needles stuck in just the right place will fix it. Suicide is invitably successful by putting your head into a silk chinstrap or bouncing your head off a pole. I'll stop here.
Just finished ep 8 so got a long way to go but am enjoying it so far. Blood on the blossoms and puke on the shoulder. This couple is getting pretty intimate. In these dramas slashing the palm of your hand takes only minutes to heal. That older sister is a clever one and the official at her side is thoughtful and good to look at.
Zhen is going a little overboard in you seductive outfit and manner. Still, she got the go ahead to play wifey and travel with the guy who is investigating the story of the flood disaster. Sister is finding out her happy married life is about to be upended but there's a guy with an umbrella waiting to protect her from the downpour.
That was a sweet moment, but she could have moved her lips just a little after that long wait. Good ending. He will have a queen, the crown prince will have a new mom whom he likes already and his sister is back too. What a great ending all around.
Only on ep 3 but Zi Chuan Yiu has more depth than first thought. He's also better looking than his sidekicks. He seems reluctant to the advances of Chuan Ning, but then again sent her all those meaningful mementos.
I've liked Jeremy Jones in most of his other dramas so I'm giving this a chance even though I'm not keen on all the face smoothing and the outfits. It seems the only investigating he's doing is when he's unconscious. He better get his old ticker under control or he won't last long.
Where does this rating come from? Not the individual episodes rating as they are all high. This is a great drama, with excellent cases of murder and mayhem to solve. The action is fast the investigations are intelligent. Zhou Yiwei is great to watch and his costumes are divine. I like the look of his lady love as well. I hear there are going to be more seasons to come after this one, so let's up these rating people.
Only two episodes to go. Anybody ready to tell us how this might end. I'm hoping he can punish all the evildoers especially his uncle. I don't know what he can possibly do to his mother to have her pay for her plotting. Then I hope he abdicates and appoints the crown prince as King with a wise and honest regent to help him. This conflicted but lovable King deserves to ride off into the sunset or the drizzle with his Mong Woo.
The people surrounding the King are too slow on the threats posed and he is giving his enemies too much time and leeway to survive. Sixth Royal Secretary is a deceptive swine. Senior Court Lady Dong is between a rock and a hard place but her lips are a poisoned chalice he should not drink from.

This drama was one of the first Cdramas I watched and have been hooked ever since. Have seen it three times over the years. You might want to try some more recent ones like Mysterious Lotus Casebook or Judge Dee's Mysteries, some people also liked Ripe Town.
Finished it. I would have given it a 10 if only the Lady Cho and Officer Su Ho had managed at kiss at the end. We deserved that after such a long time of teasing romance between them. All in all a satisfying tale of revenge on an evildoer. Pretty brave of this production to have such huge age gaps between the main leads and the second couple. It doesn't always work but was not annoying in this drama.
Really enjoying this drama. It looks great and Zhou Yiwei is a riveting actor and doesn't look bad half naked, draped in a flag keeping warm by an open flame, sitting across from his flame.
Let's all hope dreams can come true. There's a husband in the mix now so what will our budding lovers do? We still have a lot to resolve in the next two episodes and many people who need a spanking/punishment.
Not my cup of tea. For me this drama did not live up the usual quality of a Wu Lei enterprise. The location was colorless, the sport did not hold any interest for me, the incessant texting between the main characters diminished the CP they might have had if this was kept to a minimum.
The whole episode 8 is built on the homoeroticism of the situation that the King is totally absorbed with his baduk player. The palace gossip is on high alert and his political retinue is pulling out all the stops to get this pesky little thorn in their side removed from taking up the King's time. Now the Queen Dowager has set a date for him to bed Court Lady Dong (I can still picture her licking the diseased finger of the late king, barf). Thankfully, Coitus interuptus with Lady Dong when Mong-woo disappears in a drunken stupor. He finds her, but that's not the end of the surprise. It's written all over his face that her final wish before death is also his dream come true. What bliss!
