Well...even to this day I still feel she should have ended up with Tal Tal. lol But it's okay. Her badassery…
In my head she did. His character was such a treat. He managed to steal himself a spotlight between Wang Yu and the Emperor. Even though their relationship was non-romantic (and I was extra cautious on all their scenes and countless crosscuts of him making faces or staring knowingly - lol, someone in a postproduction must have really liked him), I think they had deepest understanding and some kind of kindredness.
They barely interacted till the middle of the show or so and at the beginning I couldn't get what's the deal with shipping them, but boy. It was worth waiting for.
How could they kill him off screen.
you guys are hard to please. When an actress is too young for you, it's improper, when she's too old, she either steals chances from younger colleagues or - what a witch - is too old to be in a romcom. Off with her head.
I may be unable to go past ep 10 and maybe I'm cheering for Team Evil, but I'll give this show one thing; it's well written and suspenseful in this kind of way that knowledge is unevenly distributed: one person is always one step further, can see what others are doing in a broader perspective, has fuller view on their feelings and lowkey pity them (or plan his or hers next step). The one knowledgeable constantly changes. The viewer can easily forsee how the events unfold, but that anticipation is all the fun: you keep thinking 'I want to see his face when he realises this or that', 'if only she knew' etc. It's not surprising, but very satisfying to watch, in a bittersweet way.
Cliffhangers are always on point, never once failed to made me play another episode no matter how sleepy I were.
I have mixed feelings towards this. I love how quirky and creepy they are all, but I hope side characters will get some development, because for now they seem to spin around one tight concept each and it's getting old pretty quick. Hell, even the lead - I'd appreciate seeing how intelligent he is and judging it for myself rather than being constantly reminded of his IQ and 2536 books he wrote. And let's not talk about the girl (why is she even there? she can't even fight).
It doesn't help that they're directly copying lines and scenes from Sherlock. The comparison is unavoidable, but why are bringing it on themselves?
I'm intrigued tho. Can't wait for M.!
Could someone recommend me a drama that's more fatalistic in terms of a main character's development?…
Thanks! I don't mind long answers and non-segeuks :) I'll check them out.
@PandaLova: I have Empress Ki on my to watch list, thanks for reminding me of it. I haven't heard of Jumong. It looks I have something to watch now, yay..
Could someone recommend me a drama that's more fatalistic in terms of a main character's development? A king that does go mad and inevitably loses himself in a process of making the world a better place? Something I could mentally insert in between Six Flying Dragons and Deep Rooted Tree if you know what I mean. I hoped this will be it, but the whitewashing was really strong (like when So didn't kill Yo over the cliff, he wasn't the one poisoning Mu, killed 10th out of the pity etc.).
anyone remembers in which episode main cast appears?
/what a drag. As interesting it is to watch a Six Flying Dragons' story from a different perspective, I can't wait for the plot to take some speed and substance. The storytelling here is really mediocre - this kind of showing every detail of cause-outcome line and explaining like a 5 year old. Some stories deserve 35 episodes, but this one doesn't use it well.
It's very true that a story is only as good as its villains.
