GL dramas don't get any hate but if it is getting some hate then that's because from the very start they promoted…
Oh, please, that's just a bunch of excuses. The GL vibes were there from the very first promo (and even the synopsis tells you this).
Mind you, when this drama was first announced, it was literally announced as a GL drama (though this was dropped in future announcements). And the webtoon this is based on literally has GL elements too. Saying the hate is because it comes out of nowhere is bullshit (and even if that was the case, it'd still be a bullshit excuse).
Can I ask anyone why the tving ver is longer by 2 ep?
Pretty sure that's the two-episode Before Sunrise prequel that dropped on TVING a few weeks ago (I think Viki might get those next week as they have 4 episodes listed for next week instead of 2).
I know this was not a romance dram but kind of dissapointed that Sim Jin Woo and Yun Ji Yeong did not end up together…
Honestly, I like to think they are together, or are on their way to that point. There's nothing that contradicts that, and their clearly still close. Also, it's more subtle, but I feel like she was clearly growing closer to him in the last few episodes.
Was rooting for Chris and Ha Na to get a happy ending, but it looks like that won't happen since Chris will probably go to jail even if he survives. I'm hoping the parents, Ha-na, and our 3 kids end up happy at least.
What I don't get is the queen is trying to help the king. Yeah, he is a weak ass but if he would learn to work…
I might be wrong, but I feel like that's kinda the point? The king feels threatened by the queen, a woman, and that's a big part of the reason as to why he's so weak. Because instead of ruling together, and accomplishing their goals, he seems hell bent on putting her down. I can understand his trust issues, but instead of presenting a united front with the queen, he ends up listening to all the wrong people.
The queen would make a good king, if only the actual king would realize that this isn't actually a bad thing. She gets stuff done, and I keep being surprised at how good she is at all this stuff.
Hae Gang survived and said they finally got their revenge towards Bak Jun Gi. We can just assume Hae Gang will…
I'm not saying I needed a whole epilogue for Hae-gang, but when you as a drama go out of your way to heavily injure a character, I at the very least expect the drama to show me if said character survived. Or heck, at least mention it. But instead we're left with Hae-gang heavily injured, with previous chief asking that one guy to save them, but that guy couldn't be bothered because he thought they were all gonna burn to death.
Heck, they did it in episodes 5 & 6, so why not here?
Hae Gang survived and said they finally got their revenge towards Bak Jun Gi. We can just assume Hae Gang will…
The last we saw of Hae Gang was when they were heavily injured though. Or did I miss something? I guess we can assume that Hae-gang survived, but that really feels like something that we should've seen on-screen (considering literally every other character got some kind of closure).
So, uhm, did Hae-gang end up surviving or did this drama really just exterminate a whole group of sexual minorities? Like, did they just forget about this loose end?
The FL kissed the ML first? And it's actually a real kiss and not one of those tiny fish-eyed peck kisses that you usually get when the FL kisses first? Oh, this entire episodes was filled with delicious trope reversals...
Why are you tossing around my boy JIN WOO like an OBJECT??!!
Because he basically is. He's a product, always has been. It's pretty simple at this point: whoever has the money, gets the prize. It's incredibly sad, but that's the reality of it.
Everyone except the FL because 99% of the crap that's been happening is because of her. Yoo Jinwoo is just collateral…
Yeah, I'm not gonna deny the FL is very flawed, but can we point the blame where it actually belongs? Everything went to shit here because Jang Hyun-Chul couldn't play fair. His actions basically screwed over everybody this episode.
Episode 9 was like "let's have every bad thing you can think off happen, and then make it even worse". This episode stressed me out like crazy, and it doesn't seem like next episode is gonna be any different. I just want everyone to be happy at this point.
Honestly really hoping Chae Ryeong ends up massively screwing over the king somehow. He's the one that got her into this mess in the first place (by raping her, mind you), so this would honestly be really satisfying.
How do we know what version we have? I’m in the US and can find this drama on Viki and GoHiTV.
The TVING version should start with the TVING logo followed by the tvN logo. Otherwise, in the first 10 minutes, there's a bit of a steamy scene between the king and queen. The tvN version often cuts away to the woman outside the room while the TVING version doesn't (TVING version also has slight nudity there). You should easily spot which version you're watching with that scene alone.
The Viki version should be the tvN version though.

Furthermore, this also isn't even a story about the king to begin with, but a story about the queen, and her experiences.
The Viki version should be the tvN version though.
But, well, he also kinda totally raped Chae Ryeong, so I'd say that counts as a crime.
