I can see why this series or any series might not be everyone's cup of tea. But just out of curiosity, why are…
yeah, if i'm with ppl at a restaraunt and i'm not enjoying the meal i might say "eh this kinds of sucks, i'm not finishing it" because it's really not that big of a deal honestly
so we all agree that they ~redeemed~ karn only because he is played by first, right? cuz from what i've gathered his ending wasn't at all like that in the original novel. if he were played by some rando i feel like they'd have no trouble following the og story. but since bl actor standom is famously batshit insane, they decided to play it safe i feel like
first season was amazing. boc sex scenes are basically censored p0rn. if you are expecting that here then yup…
whether it's soft or hard, porn is famously plotless. its whole point is that it's simply a jerk-off material, there's no substance to it, no backstory. you literally cannot say that about any of these bls, no matter how explicit they are. erotica is more fitting i feel like
dhevi... what a character. honestly didn't expect this from boc considering how one-dimensional (or straight up non-existent) their female characters often are.
idk feels kinda undercooked, but i really like the overall vibe. just wish they'd spend more time polishing it, the editing in particular is very rough
...or maybe - just maybe - it's inspired by real events that transpired in Thailand at that time?
why wouldn't characters and plot also be inspired by real life events? "revolutionaries who die young" is not a lesmis-exclusive archetype. a few years after the events of this show there was a student-led uprising in thailand, and a lot of those students had died. who's to say that they weren't an inspiration for victor and his friends? i feel ike it's one thing to be like "oh this reminds me of a specific western media i grew up with" and completely different to say that a historical series set in SEA is actively drawing inspiration from said western media.
