Returned with Complaints

✫ ⏤ The Basics:
A workaholic shopping host goes to the countryside for business, meets a mysterious farmer, and somehow they expect me to believe this is a romance instead of a very long customer service complaint.

✫⏤ The Vibe:
Countryside rom-com with home-shopping chaos, mushroom-adjacent mystery, and a sleep-deprived romance.
⏢ Watched For: A cute opposites-attract romance & cozy village vibes.
⏢ Stayed For: Obligation (mostly), the slightest bit of curiosity, and the faint hope that someone would explain why I was still here.
⏢ Almost Left Because: The plot kept selling me emotional premium packaging and delivering clearance-bin confusion. There was so much I wanted to know about the characters and their lives, yet somehow the focus always veered away before we could get to any sort of real understanding.

✫⏤ Main Character Energy:
The leads had all the ingredients for a cute setup: city girl, country boy, clashing schedules, emotional wounds, forced proximity. Unfortunately, the recipe came out under-seasoned. Everyone looked like they were waiting for the drama to become the drama. I ended up basically knowing nothing about the main male lead because the sole focus was the female lead and her life.

✫⏤ Chemistry Check:
🧊 Refrigerator hum with occasional lukewarm steam.
Not completely dead, but definitely not “pause the episode and giggle into my pillow” energy.

✫⏤ Plot Behavior:
The plot wandered into the countryside, removed its shoes, and never found them again. There were moments that wanted to be charming, but the pacing kept tripping over its own shopping cart.

✫⏤ What I Liked:
The concept had potential. The home-shopping angle was different, the countryside setting could have been cozy, and the cast was attractive enough to briefly distract me from my disappointment.

✫⏤ Things That Needed a Meeting:
The writing needed a supervisor, a calendar, and possibly a return label. The romance did not romance hard enough, the comedy did not comedy loud enough, and the emotional beats arrived like packages with no tracking number. I kept wondering how we arrived here and 'where are we going' the entirety of my viewing.

✫⏤ Most K-Drama Moment:
Two people with complicated lives keep crossing paths at suspiciously meaningful times because apparently fate has better scheduling than the actual characters. Plus, the "I have to break up with you for your own good" moment.

✫⏤ Emotional Damage Report:
I did not cry. I did not swoon. I did, however, sigh deeply and consider reorganizing my watchlist to prevent future regret.

✫ Final Verdict:
'Sold Out on You' attempts to add a cozy village-setting, rom-com fantasy to my viewing cart..... but I would like to speak to the manager because this product was complete false advertisement! The acting was never convincing enough and the story truly sold me nothing but disappointment.

the fluffiest, funniest drama of the year

My Sweet Mobster (2024)
====================

WHAT I LIKED ::
⎯ ♡ ⋆ all the classic, cliche tropes are done in pretty original way with a reformed ex-con and a children's content creator.
⎯ ♡ ⋆ The main couple had pretty great chemistry and got together later in the show. In terms of their relationship they had to tackle ideas like trust, support, and marriage.
⎯ ♡ ⋆ Uhm Tae Goo is so handsome & his voice is so alluring.
⎯ ♡ ⋆ Gwak Jae Su (Yang Hyun Min) becomes a big part of the ML story with his connection to the father's gang.
⎯ ♡ ⋆ I like how the SML was not forced into a relationship and still loved the FL in the end.
⎯ ♡ ⋆ I liked the general message of the show of second chances, convict reform, and forgiveness.

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ✧ ❤ ✧ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE ::
⎯ ✦ ⋆ To be honest, I didn't really like the supporting couple. I just don't like relationships like that, where because of a certain event, it is almost required for them to be together and get married.
⎯ ✦ ⋆ There were a bunch of cringey moments that teetered on the edge of being too much
⎯ ✦ ⋆ The childhood connection felt a little unbeilevable and unlikely (most of the time it always does)
⎯ ✦ ⋆ I don't like the love-at-first-sight trope
⎯ ✦ ⋆ There tried to be some sort of reconciliation with the father in the end, but it just didn't work out and I so wish it did

A simple, sad, & beautiful Woman's film

I love films based on books and the director truly did an amazing job of telling this story.

I really enjoyed how the absence and presence of music created the perfect scene. Each character and the acting behind it was very thought provoking; there is always so much to life. The sisterly connection was simple, but powerful (probably exactly how my sisters & I act towards one another). As with most woman's films this one seems very underground, with small hints as to why it's titled the way it is, but I found that the women-centered narratives were very organic and true.

A great feminist film find!

Cheers to Love!

Brewing Love (2024)
================

WHAT I LIKED ::
⎯ ♡ ⋆ A really relaxing and refreshing drama to watch with great pacing
⎯ ♡ ⋆ I loved the fact that they compared sensitivity to the amount of hops in beer
⎯ ♡ ⋆ All the supporting characters were so sweet and lovable

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ✧ ❤ ✧ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE ::
⎯ ✦ ⋆ I wish they would address more of the obvious mental health issues seen here and show some growth for those characters, especially Oh Chan Hwi
⎯ ✦ ⋆ I wish the main couple had better conflict resolution skills for their arguments
⎯ ✦ ⋆ I did expect a little more from the ending

OVERALL,
I am obssessed with this drama, because the whole message is really relatable to me. I cried more than I thought I would, and I learned more about myself too. I came to find out that there are other people out there like me who experience the world the same way I do and that we all have varing levels of sentivity.
Brewing Love filled my cup! It's the best drama of the year, in my opinion.

Little Hunger & Great Hunger

Based on the short story, Barn Burning by Haruki Murakami

An intriguing account on searching for meaning in life. The themes of classism, mental health and even women's rights stood out for me. Comparing a Ben to Gatsby, while that he is contemplating his own "simultaneous existence" through the "morals of nature", an interesting habit manifests. The balance of being here and there at the same time. You can feel how psychologically unhinged Lee Jong-su becomes becomes throughout the entire film due to his love. For the first time I heard the saying "there's no country for women" mentioned in cinema. Sad, but there is truth to this too. Seeing the same personality and class type in the beginning as well as the end of the film in two different female characters.

Overall, the world remains a mystery.

A Tiny Pastel Classroom for the Emotionally Overdue

☁︎ ⏤ The Vibe :: A cozy, healing school drama that felt like sitting in a warm classroom with soft lighting, emotional support stationery, and a teacher who knows exactly when a child needs structure and when they just need someone to be there for them.

。 ⤵︎ Watched For :: A sweet, thoughtful j-drama with soft life lessons.
。 ⤵︎ Stayed For :: The kids, the therapy-adjacent wisdom, the warm visuals, and the Yukanai motto of “let’s heal through talks and paint” approach to education.

☁︎ ⏤ The Premise... in One Dramatic Sentence ::
At an unconventional school where children are allowed to play, feel, and exist outside rigid expectations, Tatsuki gently guides everyone to a place where maybe being “too kind” is just what the world calls people who actually listen.

☁︎ ⏤ Character Weather Report ::
Tatsuki felt like a human weighted blanket with unresolved trauma. He was gentle, warm, but clearly carrying pain that had not been fully unpacked yet. Shizuku brought structure and skepticism. She gave “I printed the lesson plan” energy. The kids were the heart of the show, each one quietly reminding me of the child in me, and that children are not problems to fix but tiny humans with their own very complicated weather systems.

☁︎ ⏤ Chemistry Check ::
🍵 Warm herbal tea in a handmade mug.
Not a fireworks drama, more of a “sit by the window and rethink your childhood” drama.

☁︎ ⏤ Plot Behavior ::
The plot moved gently, like it was wearing indoor slippers. Most of the time, that worked beautifully. It gave the show space to breathe, reflect, and teach without feeling too preachy. But when it came to Tatsuki and his son, the pacing suddenly grabbed a teeny tiny umbrella and sprinted through a typhoon. The most j-drama moments were whenever someone learned a life-changing lesson it was through a quiet activity, a soft room, and a single sentence so gentle it somehow rearranges your entire thought process.

☁︎ ⏤ What Worked ::
The visual palette was gorgeous: soft symmetry, warm tones, and gentle pastels, like a Wes Anderson film wandered into a Japanese school and decided to stay for tea. I also loved how much the show explored child psychology, therapy, education styles, parenting styles, and the idea that “good parenting” is not always about control, achievement, or obedience. It was comforting, but also quietly educational, like a drama that hands you tissues and a summer reading list.

☁︎ ⏤ What Needed More Time ::
Tatsuki and his son without a doubt needed more time. That relationship had deep pain, but the resolution felt rushed, like the drama knew the wound existed but did not fully sit with it long enough to let it heal. I wanted fewer emotional shortcuts and more honest rebuilding there.

☁︎ ⏤ Emotional Damage Report ::
Mostly healing, slightly tearful, occasionally “wow, adults really do pass down their unfinished homework to children.” This drama did not destroy me, but I think I should definitely get back into journaling.

☁︎ ⏤ Final Verdict ::
'Tatsuki: Too Kind for School' is a tender, thoughtful, beautifully colored little drama. It gave me warmth, reflection, and a new appreciation for gentle teaching, but the father-son storyline needed more emotional homework before graduation.

Rating: ★★★★☆
✫ Coziness: 5/5
✫ Healing Energy: 4.5/5
✫ Educational Depth: 4/5
✫ Father-Son Resolution: 2.5/5
♪ 𓂃 Would I Rewatch? Yes, especially on a rainy day with tea, snacks, and unresolved feelings.

You are my greatest love, but you are also my greatest pain

In a seamless manner, Write About Love (2019) draws a connection between the main couples lives with the story of the couple and script that they are creating. A lot of perspective on love and the ways in which we love, the film's main focus is the fact that love and pain go hand in hand.

Personally, I am not convinced with the idea that there is no "true love" with out pain, but overall it is a very sweet and heart-warming story.

they call them.... PRESSTITUTES

A war on investigate journalism and freedom of the press. In this documentary, different angles of the same story are told, while also tracking Maria Ressa’s story. Overall, it is quite interesting to see certain political and democratic moves "ported" into the Western World. I do wish they would have dived into more of the history of democracy & free speech in the Philippines.

“A politics of hate” — with apathy, injustice and misinformation dividing all people.

AMAZING!.... thats all

First things first... this film is STUNNING! 🥊✨

Everything about it is beautiful and really brings the manga/anime to life in this adaptation. The ACTING is impeccable, every scene flows beautifully and is so believable for me as a viewer.
Next, I love the COLOR, and lack there-of. Every color that is present in this film provides so much purpose and passion for the story, from the boxing gloves all the way to the dresses and suits. Which leads me to the costume&design, that is simply perfect for placing the audience in that time period.
Lastly, the CINEMATOGRAPHY, which again contains amazing angles, close-up shots, and rack focus throughout the entirety of the film.
It's really for these three reasons that I think this film is sports masterpiece!

MY FIRST K-DRAMA

During quarantine I decided to venture out of the western-hollywood scene and explore more international titles. This drama was the very first k-drama I came across and I absolutely LOVED it! The cast & characters were amazing and fully entertaining the entire time. I expected the show to be more romance than anything else, but to me it was definitely more of a Drama-Comedy. I love the family dynamic, it felt very classic; I love the female lead actress/character; and I love love the "thug boss" character (I could not stop laughing every time I saw him). The villain was questionable at times, but very interesting and I did not expect the end outcome. Overall, it is now a staple in my list and something I would recommend to any/everybody!
