i already finished this and personally think their chemistry was still zero till the end. but the story itself was interesting after ep 14. even without feeling their chemistry i'm still giving this drama 8/10. just watch using our brain instead of heart to feel the story and vibe

Sun Honglei is much more famous than Lay in China. If you go to weibo and search this drama randomly you will find many passers by are watching this drama because of Sun Honglei. Also, there is no case where fandom-power-only could bring dramas/movies into hit project. Plot is still the biggest factor. Even there are many dramas with top liuliangs/traffic stars tanked so hard. Non liuliangs but big names/S-tier like Zhou Xun and Chen Kun also had flopped movies. What OP said about Crime Crackdown the most popular dramas of 2021 is def a reach, Crime Crackdown is more like one of the most popular dramas of 2021.

Rate a drama low just because your fave lacks of screentime is not wise. Just saying. Your favorite actor chose quality over quantity, a smart move from him. Glad this drama is doing well in China and it gets recognition it deserves!

Wdyt about Jiang Yiyi and Song Zu'er? Saw many people have them as dream casts for Shen Miao. Among popular dream casts of Shen Miao (Dilraba, Zhao Liying, Li Qin, etc) I find Jiang Yiyi and Song Zu'er are the best candidates

I agree though about Jin Young's acting skill in this drama. He used to be good, can be considered as one of the best idol-actor BEFORE this drama. His acting even received praises before. In this drama his expression/reaction screams acting in many scenes which is not good and unnatural. I guess 2 years of hiatus due to military enlistment dragged his acting skill down a bit. He surely needs to practice more before come back. Luckily Jin Young is aware of this, he said in Police University interview he didn't feel that confident about his acting and still have room improvement. I also think Sun Ho character also plays part in his performance, this character is not well-written and confusing most of the times. Sometimes it feels like Sunho doesn't belong to this world?! Like other characters are kinda comedic and chill but this particular person is the only serious one and his personality is in gray area. I personally find it hard to sympathize with Sun Ho but I also want him to do well lol it's hard to elaborate this feeling
