I liked the start of cdrama when 2 opposite misunderstood teens meet and slowly open up to understand each other…
Yeah, I also liked the start better than the second half, most of it is them in school and new problems arising. Although that didn't make me drop it, I'm watching the rest in 1.5x speed lol. There was so much more plot progression in the first half and I too really liked how the characters developed but now everything feels kinda repetitive

A River Runs Through It
Go Ahead
Lovely Us
Bloom Life (not very similar but I'd recommend it based on the vibes)
Love Me, Love My Voice (also not that similar, but it's another fluffy show with 0 unncessary drama)
Speed and Love (not for me but recommending because it's written by the same author)

How old are the main leads?
I'm guessing Qing Ye is around 18 and Xing Wu around 20, since it's been 2 years since he dropped out of hs

Yes, if translators and other staff included this type of information, that'd definitely be helpful! :D

I think the question is to what extent a production team can be responsible for an international audience. If they're making a Chinese drama in China, their primary audience is naturally Chinese viewers. That's true for shows from any country. Subtitles also don't always capture every cultural context or messages 100%
So at some point, it's up to international viewers to do a bit of research when they come across customs or terms they're unfamiliar with. In this case, it was made clear from ep. 1 that they weren't related.
As for Speed and Love, I totally agree with you there! That situation was different because the nature of their relationship wasn't clear to the FL when they were children, so I understand why people found it uncomfortable.

Yeah well, I was just saying because I am from an Asian country as well and it's similar there, so I wasn't thrown off by it :)
To me it just seems like a matter of naming. I only brought up the comparison to other Asian countries because calling non-relatives brother, sister, auntie, etc. is pretty common in many places. That doesn't mean it's the same everywhere, and like you said, it may be different in your country and in China.
I also don't really see why it's unheard of when the mothers of the main leads were close friends.

Yeah, I get what you mean but it's a cultural thing in lots of countries, e.g. in Asian countries. Doesn't mean that they're literally brothers/sisters or cousins. It's how we call each other, especially people who share a very close bond
