I've wanted more flashbacks of Royal School days and I already got it in episode 5 epilogue. This episode made…
Well, Prince Yi-An did not do anything about his 'feelings' either till an adult HeeJoo came to him with a proposal begging to marry him......(& he accepted only after saying no a couple of times)......

You've got the gist of it. Although nothing is firmly established, I'd like to think that she must know about…
Let's see how the drama goes. I believe HeeJoo knows exactly what she's doing and has a plan or pivot for everything. She can turn bad move or scandal into good business strategy (cue the 'red dress' from Ep.1) so bad publicity is publicity to her (clickbait/viral social media young consumers modern world). The story may veer towards Prince Li-An 'rescuing' her goals from royal rules so that he looks grand as the guy who will support & protect her ambitions. Otherwise, HeeJoo knows what she wants & how to get it.

The FL is so pathetic and unlikeable in Ep. 1 that I dropped it, even though I know the story.
1) She is very ill-groomed to be a teacher, a dowdy/ haggard housekeeper appearance which shocked me since she's supposed to work as a professional college professor.
2) She saves a student who tries to kill herself (the student plagiarized and cheated in exam and hence was disqualified / suspended from school), and the ungrateful student screams and shouts at her, and the student's parents slap and beat the FL!!!!
3) Instead of filing charges against them or not putting up with their nonsense, she apologizes and re-examines the cheating student!!!!
4) She forgets to pick up her below-10yo kid from school because of all this - so she doesn't even have her priorities straight. She had zero relationship with her son. Her ex-husband seemed better and I did not understand why they got divorced/ didn't stay together.
5) She mumbled all the time, second-guessing herself, unsure as if she's a teenager. We never find out why FL is so weak and pathetic when everyone around her is well-adjusted. She never respected herself or boundaries and it's clear that she had major psychological problems in all areas of her life before the ML came into her life. She is so unlikeable and unrelatable.
6) Most imp. of all, FL should've known that there is no way in hell an outwardly good-looking, well-toned, well-settled, single, eligible psychiatrist working in a hospital, who is respected by his peers, would date or marry a divorced mother of 1 who does not even take care of herself, has no social life and is dumb as hell and is getting beaten up by strangers in hospital rooms. In the West, women are getting duped by 'online' bfs that look like Brad Pitt (while they look like potato sacks - I have to say) who scam them out of their life savings, etc. - women believe these men's tall tales because they are desperate, lonely, in need of love. In Ep. 1, FL is not a girl, she's a middle-aged woman, and is not new to the dating pool or men, especially since ML became her second boyfriend. There has to be some personal responsibility & accountability for making bad choices in every area of your life.

I know ML, the psychiatrist, likes weak women he can control - that's his type (there's a great scary dialogue where he 'teaches' an abusive male student how to play psychological games with his girlfriend to control her in Ep.8 or something) - but this FL is so weak and pathetic in Ep. 1 onwards that she is unwatchable (even before the marriage) and it's hard to empathize with her or any female student in this drama.

I think these sort of dramas do a disservice to abused women by showing pathetic women blaming men for problems in their life.

I think Love Story in the 70s is his best work after Lighter & Princess. He's a good actor (not just a model/idol) who doesn't get his due because of his looks.

Guyss help me understand something.. what is really Huiju plan with regards to marrying the prince? Marry the…
I doubt she'll leave the company's running to anyone ever. She's her own boss and this is a Disney version of a girl getting it all - so she'll get it all. She will never bend - her entire life has been beating people into submission by being better than them and never accepting the corner they want her to stand in and 'level' they want her to be.

You've got the gist of it. Although nothing is firmly established, I'd like to think that she must know about…
Viewers who are wondering about this 'no-business rule / no divorce rule' forget that Heejoo said she'll marry to get noble title to improve her chances of getting control of company and 'when the time comes, in divorce I'll take the hit' (i.e. she'll make herself look bad, as if it's her fault they got divorced), she's not leaving the company to anyone, she's planned out how this 'marriage' should go - the only thing she was not counting on was falling for the royal, which means she will never let go / will be hard for her to let the prince go. But company will stay with her, she'll just lower the exhibitionist marketing a bit. That's my take on how the story will go.

But royals gets divorced all the time - who said they don't get divorced?

I don’t know why, but these days I’ve got this feeling…JJy might not be the real villain 👀It feels like…
Yeah, he's suspicious, but he may be suspicious because his family produced 5 queens and he believes in maintenance of status quo (royal traditions & line to throne) and wants to support and keep his daughter (young Queen Mother) in charge till her son grows up. His dislike of Prince Yi-An may simply be that he knows prince can't be controlled & is a male heir IF 8yo dies. HOWEVER, I do believe that the threat of the husband-king abdicating may have put this family over the edge and someone related to them (if not the father) may have killed the king in the fire. This is a power struggle. All the other members of family are gone in unnatural deaths and her brothers (his sons) work for Royal Hospital so it's pretty easy to change facts / cause of death or autopsies.

It IS strange that nothing has happened to Queen Mother & Prince Yi-An or the 8yo Majesty.

I doubt another 'mastermind' would want HeeJoo dead (unless it's her own father or brother's in-laws). Someone does not want Prince Yi-An to be powerful which he will be by marrying the richest independently wealthy businesswoman who represents Korea internationally in her own right.

I ALSO believe that someone else is trying to kill off this family to abolish the monarchy by making it controversial.

In the end, royal family & Queen M & 8yo will still be in power, with tradition + heritage intact but royal rules will get relaxed a bit.

Well then drama needs to explain who would want to kill competition before even a formal announcement and approval by cabinet and positive public opinion. IF Q.M.'s father is behind the brakes fail, there were plenty of options for him to exercise before launching a hit on her - he could've easily told the media mogul (whose daughter is selected by Q.M. as marriage prospect for Prince) to launch an anti-HeeJoo media campaign highlighting her family background, fractured relationship with dad, business dealings etc. to show that she's not suited for royal life, she has no family values, how she cheaply self-promotes, that her own father business tycoon doesn't like her, that she dated lead singer of a band last year etc. etc. - you know the way media can get nasty when they go after an individual, Q.M.'s father would've done that before ordering a hit on her.

Plus, someone is killing Prince's family, yet no one has tried to kill Prince Yi-An nor the 8yo Majesty. But that day, girlfriend is the target when the prince was not with her, but 8yo Majesty was.

It's a plot hole IF HeeJoo is the target and IF Q.M.'s father is behind brakes fail, because he would've ensured where his grandson is AT ALL TIMES, so would Q.M., yet no one told Q.M. where her son was playing for hours (with prime minister!) and her father didn't get a whiff either. And they have a mole in that household. Considering the proximity of the kid with his uncle & uncle being involved with HeeJoo, they would've kept the Majesty kid far away from uncle and his GF and under heavy security. Security is always lax around him and uncle (remember the economic convention) - so something else may be going on.

My two-cents on the Queen Mother: 1) She is just a racist ("weak bloodline"!), elitist person who thinks accident of birth gives her the edge over everyone else and HeeJoo is there as a contrast that a woman can work her way up through brains and beauty and still not be considered 'good enough' for the royalty for abc reasons (under rigid royal rules). That's why I want to see HeeJoo win all the way - get the prince, the title, the business, the love of the people and tone down that 'marketing ability' a bit (can you imagine a royal making those attention-seeking videos?!!LOL).

2) Queen M. is also old school, i.e. believes in the rigid formality of Joseon era or something, even indoors in the privacy of a room, she never addresses or cares for her son as a mother normally would, because she believes in maintaining status quo role and has huge responsibility to live up to as the new queen from a family which has produced 4 queens.

3) This is why she's insecure of Prince Yi-An. Whether there's some history between them or not, the fact is she's a young widow and no one is thinking of marrying her off!!!! And she truly believes she needs to be heavy-handed or else Prince Yi-An will take power away from her and her son. All her actions are about power.

That's my read on her character so far.

4) The entire 'bloodline' of Prince Yi-An minus 8yo Majesty has been wiped off. Queen M's brothers are part of 'Royal Hospital'. The former Queen died in a car 'accident', the king died of 'heart attack' and the brother-king who wanted to abdicate was also bumped off. Her father is suspicious BUT it could be that someone else is sabotaging the monarchy by killing off people, either to make sure Queen M's 'bloodline' moves forward OR that monarchy be abolished after so many deaths and internal controversies. Because 8yo Majesty was in the car with HeeJoo (& Queen M has a mole in that household), no one knows who the target really was. I doubt Queen M or her father would kill 8yo Majesty. So maybe it's someone else.

5) Queen Mother isn't going anywhere, she is the mother of an 8yo, so she'll be redeemed by the end. I doubt the kid will be raised by his uncle & aunt! Her father however is extremely suspicious.

That is never going to happen. Prince YiAn is never going to take his nephew's rightful place away from him. He'll…
No he won't. This is a Disney production. The girl will get her 'Prince' Charming, not 'man formerly known as prince of former monarchy'.

I hope they explore 'ascending the crown' more.
That is never going to happen. Prince YiAn is never going to take his nephew's rightful place away from him. He'll support the 8yo Majesty till he's no longer needed as a 'regent' (i.e. performing ceremonial roles till Majesty grows up - 16 or 18yo). What he has to figure out is how many of the rules can be subverted for a modern monarchy to appease 'royal heritage' as well as to live in peace with conglomerate wife. He'll also probably do something to ease the nephew's life as a royal kid, but that's about it. He also has to find who is killing his relatives. He'll never be king and doesn't want to be king.

Ep 1-2 : huiju clearly states that her reason for marrying the prince is to elevate her social status, gain power,…
My theory is this: Prince told her the first reason for 'marrying her' is that he is taxpayer funded and she will not be a burden on the taxpayer - Prince is second-born & not in line to throne, he is regent and performing ceremonial royal duties only because His Majesty is 8 yo. Once king comes of age, Prince's role & functions will be limited. So I'm sure there's some rule about it which he knows, or else he would not have gone ahead with accepting her proposal.

On the other hand, this also means that Prince has to find a permanent solution to his role and place in monarchy by modernizing it because he won't take himself out of it - If he's not a prince what is he? - so he has to find his place and also get his wife accepted and also find who is trying to kill all members of his 'line' of the family!!!! I don't think he's going to usurp the rights of his nephew to be king. He will protect him, not take over.

Really enjoying this!!!! IU is so good with comedy. Love her!!! First time watch BWS as male lead, and I really…
The FL & ML both have daddy issues - both were more talented than the first borns, but sidelined or not respected because: a) Heejoo is a girl and from an affair not legitimate wife and forced on the father, b) Prince YiAn was not important because he was second born & not crown prince - and once 8yo Majesty comes of age (16 or 18), he will lose relevance that he has right now as 'regent' (performing ceremonial duties on behalf of the king).

Men usually DO hold more power in governance and business, I think that's why there are more men. Plus, prime minister is second lead (!!!)

It's Heejoo's story more than the prince's IMO. I want to see her win all the way!
