He just used her as bait, risked her life without telling her, she is allowed to be angry. I’m on her side.…
Yes, she had every right to be hurt & angry & childish at being used - when she's ALONE with him. She's heading bureau of intelligence. Can you imagine a male minister - any minister getting away with this (not bowing to a king), & that too in front of other people? She is not his equal & she knows it but also is aware of him liking her. She is using her privilege as a woman to disrespect him.
If she doesn't like to bow or courtesy, then she shouldn't be around kings or work for kings!!!
I really like FL but I'm beginning to feel - this is the 6th mainstream C-drama this year that is showing a FL who has nothing except brains, is rude to everyone & gets everything because the guy - who is usually a general or king or prince, falls for her. I don't know what kind of equality that is!
Ep. 11: So FL comes to know king had shadow guards for her in prison & comes to talk to her. She doesn't bow or courtesy & is rude as hell & doesn't say thank you for saving my damn life.......this is bugging me now. There's a difference between having self-respect and misbehaving.
I don't like watching kingly/princely stories in any case, but to show a very gutsy, brave & honest FL not respect her own BOSS - who also happens to be king - is in bad taste. He is the reason she & other women have a job in the imperial city. She has a court appointment because of him. She bowed only when he gave the job back - which she was unqualified for, she has yet to show her competency or accomplishment. I don't understand what lesson in equality C-dramas are giving.......
Yes, very intense & awkward to watch. They were probably acting for spies. I doubt it was real. It was probably…
Well, I don't like that she doesn't bow / courtesy to him & had to be told by ML/ king to do so. She also stands next to him without permission. FL can be brave & show respect to the king who is her benefactor AND BOSS!!! Arm grabbing: I think he has held it 3 times in the last 3 episodes in anger.
Some writers and fans seem to think that, for a female lead to be "strong and independent," she has to…
I agree with what you've said overall but in this drama, it remains to be seen what the dynamics between these 2 will be. He's not insecure or jealous & I doubt she's thinking of 'love' or dreams. They have a job to do, & rely on each other to do it. The only weird thing I see is that she doesn't courtesy him (he had to prompt her to do so in Ep.7) & she stands next to him without permission. Not even Old Chancellor & ML's childhood friend (SML) can do that.
The title 'The scholar & the emperor' is better which is in the start-credits. Royal betrothal is very difficult to remember unless one knows the entire story.
Wow, episode 10 was intense. She wasn't backing down, he wasn't backing down!
Yes, very intense & awkward to watch. They were probably acting for spies. I doubt it was real. It was probably a ruse to fish out Tiger clan - who will come after her in prison. I wish FL could be more respectful of king's position & not think of herself as his equal & at least acknowledge that she does have childhood trauma! But the king wanted a brave, no-holds-barred person to do the job, he doesn't mind that she debates him (plus I think he's in love).
So the Tiger Roar Gang are the main villains!?😭 They’re human traffickers!!! And there’s still so much…
No they aren't the main villains. They are criminal elements, part of a larger conspiracy to bring back a former 'Vale dynasty' in power, which involves court officials as well - ML & FL don't know it, but we have seen the other side's congregation (masked man with masked people underground) and hooded guy talking to Tiger leader in Ep. 10.
Dropped. No way any real king would've allowed his subject to speak to him like this.
Yeah, but my hope is that they were acting out because they knew people were listening in, & he sent her to prison to fish out Tiger clan's leader & his connections in court. My hope is she wasn't being rude or his equal intentionally.....
I am a little worried that tall man in black robe is someone they are really close to. One of the 3 guys in tub…
Yeah, the pharmacist is probably affiliated with the former dynasty and I won't be shocked if he turns out to be an heir / Lord Shanuguan. His speaking up in front of ML / king was extremely suspicious. Old Chancellor's bodyguard is also very tall btw.
