It's done to show that the ML is not this perfect being. He's not a violent person, but he can act in a very unwise way towards the FL. Two things to notice are: (1) she was able to defend herself, meaning she's getting stronger and better at defending herself. Sometimes people who love you can do hurtful things and you have to be able to stand up for yourself. (2) He actually stopped and listened to her. I don't know what she said but he was able to listen to her, even though it was displeasing him. Meaning, you'll meet a guy who disagrees with you, but whether or not you two can be together depends on whether or not you can discuss disagreements.
This show is not about young girl's idealized relationship, but about realistic and normal people.

I actually came here to ask pretty much the same question. I had readied myself for illness, addiction, bereavement or even mental issues... so I almost fell off my chair when I saw that it all came down to plagiarism accusations on an unrelated field. It's a shame that for thousand BL shows and movies, we get 1.5 GL shows and movies. A real shame, in this "woke" world we live in. And I've not even that much into queer culture, but I'm already fed up with the discrimination.

I guess! Though the only common plot point between the two is the reluctant wife (at the beginning), which is pretty common in thai dramaland to be honest.
I think maybe all those drama with Jao Sao in the title (Jao Sao Chang Yon, Jao Sao Gae Gat) might be from the same book series. I could look it up, but I'm being lazy hehe

Apparently the first adaptation ends with the FL and the ML as a couple. But someone told me the show was quite violent and rapey.

I'm somewhat interested because this type of character is rarely female. That said, I must say that I feel like this is a Deja Vu story. Then again, it's all about the execution, so I'll stay open minded.

I really want this to have a happy end. I really wanna watch it but I'm not ready to have my heart broken yet. Thai writers have a grudge against sexually active heroines...
