Special mention: everyone is acting their parts so well, but the FL's maid - she is awesome! I love her - her antics, her loyalty. Giving me Mr Queen Vibes - Queen's maid and Cho Sang Gun Gang! 💖

IKR! The writers just punished us with the lack of the kiss scene. Like the hug was cute but we want MORE! Someone needs to make a series about them 🥹🥹🥹

OMGGGG - It is there on my watchlist !! I have heard it is really good - and I love both the lead actors in it! Ahh so many dramas to watch and so less time.

Thank you so much for the recommendation - The Art of Negotiation was in my radar cause of one of favs - Le Je Hoon, and will increase the watch priority now that you mention Cha Kang is there too.

Hospital Playlist and All of Us are Dead - are so popular - but somehow I have not been able to make time and watch it. Will definitely try to make it work now that I know the FL's there too!

First Thoughts - After 2 Episodes
(Long One - But I was too Excited)

1. What the SML 💔
Why all K-drama SML's have such a fate, one-sided crush on the FL, that is too sad to watch. I am seeing the actor "Cha Kang Yoon" for the first time here, and OMG - am so convinced by that puppy face, yet strong "I'll be there for my loved ones" vibes. But we all know he would not get the girl and its so sad - but ah, I can't even root for him, cause we want the FL-ML to end up together. Why, K-drama makers Why? I hope he gets his own happy ending in some way.

2. THE FL 🌸
It is also my first time watching the FL "Cho Yi Hyun" (apparently I have seen her in Sweet Revenge, but I don't recall her role that vividly in that drama). Her character's intention and antics are something I don't usually like - but it kind of goes with the story, so am okay with it. It is super cringe/clingy - which would make me roll-my-eyes - but she's acting well, what she has been given - so am good with it.

3. THE ML 🎯:
This is my third drama of ML - "Choo Young Woo". The first one was "Trauma Code" which was masterpiece & one that I cannot recommend enough. The second was "Mercy for None" where he was so good as the antagonist. I am so taken by his looks (yes, FL I feel you) but more by his acting - he is able to pull off goofy, serious and cute. A little taken aback to see him take a role of a high-schooler which is younger than what he played earlier and I saw him as - doctor & prosecutor, but he pulls it off really well. In fact his looks and acting remind me of another ultra fav - Lee Jun Young. I had shared a post sometime back where they look similar - because of glasses, but I can see the similarity is more than in some features, face moles and glasses - it is in acting diversity as well. 4. THE SPIRIT-MOTHER 💗 : So good to see one of my favorite ahjumma/eomma - "Kim Mi Kyung" in another affectionate and motherly role. One of those characters / artists whose presence make you smile a bit more and brighter seeing them on-screen.

5. I love the story so far - well acted, paced, and good mystery levels. I'm usually not a fan of high-school based stories as I have outgrown them, but I like that this is layered with other themes of mystery, fantasy, suspense, past trauma (ML & FL parents, the other evil ? Shaman, ML's friend/ex "H" that probably got hurt in fire & now blames ML).

🤔 Theory - could evil shaman be FL's real mother? Could "H" become a love interest for SML, and allow her to heal, and SML to overcome his crush on FL?

I don't want to overly praise it - cause it is too early, and I have been burnt by dramas that seemed amazing initially but flatlined later. Still this is good so far and oddly-addictive, need another episode as soon as one gets done.

Oh yes - star power is real for this one. And I am so intrigued by the concept. I don't follow zodiac signs as such, but am always interested in it - like the memes/posts you see on social media, and anime based on it like Fruits Basket. Basically the whole mythology theme is truly interesting.

Add a cast like the one we have and am really hopeful that this would be an interesting watch #fingers-crossed

Episode 5 - Front Man's eyes as he watched onscreen what decision Gi Hun makes was so brilliant. First its almost gleaming with happiness, as Gi Hun is about to make a move. And then again the eyes are gleaming but this time with regret? sorrow? remorse? guilt? cause he sees Gi Hun walk away?

Hardly anything was said as he simply watched - and sipped on his whiskey - but a lot was said through the eyes. I love it when actors do this, and are able to pull it off with barely any movements. Incredible!

Player 120 ❤️❤️❤️
Ep 2 - and I realize why the makers said this season and show ending will not be easy

I can still see mixed reviews and comments - so I really hope the show ends well, solely to honor the character of Player 120. This was not easy 😭😭😭 the hardest one, since Ali or rather at part with Ali from Season 1.

Han Se Jin is a vibe! Says a lot without saying much, touches on profound thoughts without being serious! 💖

Also - Love how they have shown a contrast between the twin sisters, yet an underlying similarity.
And same extended to their respective beaus - different, yet similar in some ways - especially on how to win over the Yu sisters for sure 😅

Ep 10 Ending - 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I wanted to give a standing ovation. This is what we had been waiting for so long. This was so damn satisfying and necessary!

On top my mind is Mr Queen and Splash Splash Love. They are my absolute favorites and are super close to the theme/genre of this drama - time slip, historical setup, and the comedy!

W and Extraordinary You - are other examples - but only for the entering a fictional world POV.

You are one of the people who got it - 😅 It was meant to be laughed at, although the whole concept felt a little weird to me (though I got the understanding for it, like you, other MDLers also explained it - the one-sided crush, just the whole KD's reaction towards her was weird for me, but I get it now)

Like just imagine a very cartoon-ish version, the ladies having a showdown in heaven for KD 😅

You are so right for Strong Girl NamSoon - in fact never agree for any amount of money, unless someone just offers to watch the edit featuring scenes of BWS as Si-oh. The K2 comes second close for sure - unless someone edits scenes of Ji Chang Wook & Song Yoon Ah. Depending on the money can think of it 😅😅

Ep 3 - what was that transition? or lack of it. How did the drinks just suddenly catch fire.
Can someone explain - cause I found it very weird 😕

Also - I personally disregarded the negative comments before starting this drama, cause I wanted to see it for myself. Ep 1-2 were good (not great) but Ep 3 was quite meh. And again I say this because you end up comparing it to dramas of same/similar style and that is why this feels slightly weaker. I hope Ep 4 and onwards is better/improving!

Just wrapped up Episode 2, and I have to laugh at myself—just few days ago I commented here on MDL that I’d wait until this drama hit the halfway mark before diving in? 😂 Clearly, I have zero willpower when it comes to fun dramas!

So far, I’m genuinely having a great time watching it. It’s giving me major flashbacks to two of my absolute favorites—“Mr. Queen” and “Splash Splash Love.” The stories are definitely different, but I can’t help drawing a few fun parallels. Not in a bad way, though! Just one of those natural comparisons that happen when something reminds you of dramas you’ve adored.

If Mr. Queen had me rolling on the floor with full-on BWAHAHAHA moments, this one is more of a soft chuckle—HEHE kind of vibe. The comedy and quirky antics are delightful, though occasionally they feel a bit over the top. But hey, it’s still early days!

One thing I’m absolutely loving is seeing Seo Hyun in this role. This is only the second time I’ve seen her—the first being Love and Leashes, where she totally stole my heart. And now, she’s back to being adorable, charming, and just so captivating on screen. Can’t wait to see where her character goes next! 💖

Some Random Reflections | Until Ep 6:

➥ Bella Ciao BGM & Trivia?
Finally watching this in 2025 (Better Late than Never 😉) - and I love every time Bella Ciao theme music starts playing when our Bokja Club members are up to something. Tbh, I got to know of the song only cause of La Casa De Papel (Money Heist) which released in Dec 2017. Realized that this drama had released in Oct/Nov 2017, and so technically used the song before

➥ My Man, Lee Jun Young:
How cute is he in this drama! 💖 He was just 20 when this drama aired 🥹 He plays a pookie/country guy version mostly in this drama but can see the streaks of a serious/cold face that we now know him to have also shows up time and again. He is too talented, and no matter how many times and how many roles I see him in - always love everything about him!

➥ Kim Bo Ra playing Baek Seo Yeon:
I really don't like a character like Seo Yeon. I know she is acting out due to some deep-level hurt that she is enduring, but still. Simply rude and not really any addition to the main plot (at least so far). Add to the fact that I have only other seen her in another work - Love and Leashes, where there too she played a rude (almost cruel/expecting royal treatment) character. Could be some of the bias from that character creeping in here too - but even if I try to forget it, I simply would have liked had this character been done differently. Makes you feel angry for no reason.

Funny Thought:
Lee Jun Young's character is somewhat interested in Kim Bo Ra's character here, or rather there are no other choices otherwise. It made me think - he pursued her so hard - that she ended up being his ex-girlfriend in Love and Leashes 😅 I am weirdly joining the dots between these two! 😁😁😁

I love this drama from the moment it aired in 2020 to till date, and I know I will continue to do so. Therefore when I saw a 10/10 rated review of it by you on the home page - I had to click and check it out.

Though am surprised - but I can understand what you are going through since you just watched it. If I recall, yes - the ending was bittersweet for sure. I had also researched on the actual events of this time and realized what had truly happened.

Still, I feel this drama is so well done and executed - nothing even today even comes close, or maybe a little. The heartbreak part - I feel was minor, compared to the joy that this drama brought me and I hope others as well. I am not disregarding the sad part - but then it was spelled out in the finale episode and concluded in few minutes, that in comparison to the funny, action, political aspects of the drama, I was able to overcome the former.

I hope you to remember this drama for the good happy aspects, more than the sad one. And end up enjoying it or rewatching it time and again (I still do!)
