If it were real life, Day getting his sight back would be the "best" outcome as he could be independent again, re-integrate into society, etc. But for the sake of the poesy and moral of the story, him not recovering would probably be better. In fact, him getting new corneas could even undermine the story and make it feel unrealistic or "cheap".

I agree, this director is capable of turning plots that could have been horrible cringe fests into decent BL with sprinkled emotional moments here and there. That's no easy feat.

You're not the only one! I also gave up on Vice Versa, during very early episodes even, because the story was boring and the acting unconvincing. But this one gets a thumbs up from me, especially Sea's acting. Like you said, he really improved. He can express his character's emotions through his tone of voice really well. Like when Day said "I asked you to leave" to Mhok at the end of ep 3 and Sea did a softer voice with slight tremolo to show the character's embarrassment and disappointment. It was just the right amount, which is not something you see often in BL where acting is either overly dramatic or completely flat.

Here are three options I'd like : 1. Mhok donates one of his eyes to Day, à la xxxHolic without the magical powers. I don't think that's what will happen though. 2. Day gets the donation but turns it down for a reason that shows he's grown as a person and is back to his old confident self (ex: someone else needs it more than him). 3. Day never get the donation but doesn't mind because Mhok helped him accept his condition.

My theory was he’d give him one so they can both see but I think that might be too extreme for gmmtv haha.

Jimmy and Sea didn’t do it for me in their previous projects but in this one I actually don’t mind them? Sea’s acting improved a lot, he is good job. Something about them both still bothers me but I won’t say what because I like my head attached to my body. The story is very cute. Their behaviour would suit high schoolers better but I can look past it, it’s fine. It’s nice to finally get a bit of well-done, emotional fluff.

If someone finds the title of the song playing when Mhok reads the book’s synopsis to Day at the end of ep 3, I’m all ears!

The actor playing Charlie is not expressive enough in both facial expressions and voice to match Pavel’s level, which is such a waste. Why am I already more into uncle and Jeff the new repair guy? I want uncle keep trying his best to become closer to Jeff only to be heartbroken when he learns Jeff is a mole or whatever and then Jeff to feel horrible about it. Give me drama!

Pavel is in another acting league now. In this first ep he was either giving pro or total ham and I loved both. One scene out of two is just a still of his gorgeous face with different lighting. I don't care if the series is alpha-blah-blah or if the plot can fit on a toilet paper square, I will watch until the end just for him and his both glorious and ridiculous performance.

Ok so the plot was just "miscommunication, the series". Honestly, the actors were not doing such a bad job (Jun.Q's crying was on point, too bad they cut it abruptly) but holy moly macaroni did their interactions get stilted once they were supposed to be together. Even their friendship in the flashbacks was giving more! Also, having had a glimpse of Jun.Q's personality in MyName's videos and Mnet's Produce, I couldn't stop my brain from forming the thought that he's probably seething to have to stoop to BL acting.

I need someone to pass this trophy on to the casting team. My only, single, lonely disappointment for the whole series was during the kiss: Kakeru kept his lips tightly closed while Yamato was giving it his all (by fluffy Japanese BL standards), which made it juuuust a tiny bit awkward.

Agreed that PerthChimon was the highlight of Never Let Me Go, even with the 5 minutes of shared screen time they got, which is why I'm so disappointed that I'm not buying them in this show. The only explanation I have is that in NLMG they didn't have any outright romantic scenes so Chimon never looked uncomfortable. They mostly communicated with looks and light verbal flirting, which they're both good at, so we never saw the pitfall of their pairing. Chimon has explicitly stated in the past that he doesn't want to do BL, so it's still a mystery to me as to why he's staring in one.

As for the plot, I was really on board in the beginning. The writing was more clever than what we usually get in high school BL's, and the bullying scenes were realistic to an extend. But it really devolved into cliché, all-over-the-place stuff after a couple of episodes. I don't mind that they're focusing on the unhealthy aspect of their relationship, but in my opinion it is done in an immature, superficial way. I guess as I get older and watch more series my standards have been raised.

I watched every episode, I love Chimon and Perth to DEATH and adored them as a couple in Never Let Me Go (in which they had almost no explicit romance but people loved them anyway, by the way), I love low-romance high-action shows, I prefer subtle gestures and tension over full on make out sessions, bromance is crack cocaine to me, I had no expectations regarding the plot of this show (didn't even watch the pilot) and I LOVED the first two episodes. I still think their chemistry is not working (mainly because Chimon looks uncomfortable as all hell as soon as they get closer, which I refuse to believe is an artistic choice lmao) and the plot is not captivating enough to make up for it. What's your analysis of my case?
