I know of around five that are supposed to be coming out, but yeah, it's really imbalanced, sadly. I mean, I love gay content, so I'm not complaining, but it's weird how little GL there is. Fortunately a good portion of BL are starting to include GL too. Fingers crossed that it becomes more common.

I also have to add that while I normally celebrate a happy ending for a gay couple, when they're often the pair that gets the tragic finale, Matt and Pitch were both total dicks and also didn't feel like they'd earned their HEA. It's hard to root for them after everything they did, especially Matt. Honestly, Tim and Eve were the only pairing that felt justified. I'm not crazy about het romance, but at least they seemed like they were trying to become better people. Tay deserves way better.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over how much I hate Mim. Maybe if the writers didn't clearly think she was this super sympathetic character that we'd all love and forgive, like the people she hurt did, I would have liked it a little more. The acting was great, especially Namtan like people have been saying. Drake also really stepped up and has clearly grown as an actor. But I just can't get the bad taste out of my mouth after the way everyone was bending over backwards for Mim all the time. I feel bad for what she went through in the past, but she was a nasty and vindictive person. Being meek isn't the same as being nice. I feel like her narrative didn't suggest she'd earned the happy ending she received.

But what is realistic about any of the other endings? This is a show about people going back to their 15-year-old bodies. GMMTV does more BL than other studios, yes, but it's still a het-first studio, and producing gay content doesn't mean you don't still reflect problematic mindsets. It isn't consciously targeted. I'm not implying that they were being anti-lgbt or anything like that. This is a subconscious thing that's been prevalent for a long time. Many queer stories have sad endings, and people call it "realistic." A more realistic ending for shows like this would have San have to go his own way and find a new love. It would have Jaya's career end, but allow her to find a new purpose in life. Yet they magically find the exact happiness they were looking for.

Even in your example of GMM, one of the more controversial BL endings came from them, where only the het couple gets a happy ending, and one half of the m/m pairing dies. It's very rare to find the reverse, where only the m/m pairing gets a happy ending in a het show. You have to look at it in contrast to how much het is out there. For every one m/m show, there are easily 100 het shows without any lgbt content. When almost all of those have happy endings for the het couples, it's frustrating to see the few m/m romances out there end in tragedy. It's disproportionate.

That aside, it was the fact that they didn't even stay friends after that really frustrated me. It seemed like it just wanted to be bittersweet and "realistic," which feels like a cop out to me. You don't have to agree, of course. I assume you liked the ending more than I did. Which is good, I'm glad you liked the show. It just left me feeling frustrated.

I haven't seen The Revenge yet, but I saw the Nonkul scene that made me really want to see him in some BL. It's almost like it was foreshadowing. XD

I wanted to like this series, and in some ways I do, but I can't get over how frustrating some of the elements were for me. For example, the only people who get happy endings are the traditional straight people. A relationship with an older woman and a younger man ends sadly, Songpol isn't shown to have any real happiness at the end while everyone else does, poor little Pipu goes on with a broken heart, but Thep's son gets the girl, and finally, Thep cheats on his wife and is kind of a jerk the whole time, then faces zero repercussions.

I feel like that's always how it is in dramas, where only the standard people--the attractive and straight--get a happy ending. I think in some ways it had a strong message regarding other types of love, but why did those stories only have to happen with the unconventional characters and pairings? If San had had to stay young like that, or Jaya had to start from scratch, or Thep had had to work to earn his wife's trust again, or even Thep's son didn't easily get the girl he was crushing on, maybe it wouldn't have been so frustrating to see the older woman who never had love or even lost her virginity or kissed, the older gay man who hid in the closet forever and was never loved back by anyone nor facing any prospects at romantic love, and the awkward kid considered weird by his classmates and just now feeling love for the first time, all have sad endings.

I don't know, I guess I'm alone on some of this. I did like certain elements of the show, and I appreciated that the main female characters were different and complex, not there as bland love interests with no personalities. There were things I really enjoyed, but I can't get the bad taste out of my mouth with the ending, especially when it showed everyone celebrating and living happy lives, except for Songpol who just walks out of the wedding alone.

Also, why couldn't they be friends after? They went through something major and relied on one another. I don't understand why they couldn't keep spending time together. I feel like even that, having them all together and celebrating something new, would have been a more satisfying ending for me. I just feel kind of hollow, I guess. But oh well. This is often how stuff like this ends, I was just hoping for something more uplifting, even if it wasn't perfect.

I didn't see Yacht in the cast announcement pics. Hopefully he's involved anyway. And let's hope Porsch plays a way less creepy character, especially if he's gonna be paired with another 22-year-old. x_x

You're right, the wording did confuse me! "Alas" implies disappointment, but maybe it was multiple things.

You should wait. I only started watching it because I knew I'd be unable to avoid spoilers after the fiasco with Bad Buddy, so it was pointless for me to wait anyhow. But if you've managed to go this far without getting anxiety from images and such, lol, you should start watching when it's finished. It's a show that doesn't really lend itself to weekly releases. I always feel less satisfied each week than I did with Bad Buddy, but going back and watching it in bigger pieces is much more enjoyable. This series really would have been better with two or three episodes a week, rather than one, but that isn't happening for a full length BL series anytime soon.

I think you might be a little confused. That IS the main couple, it's just building gradually. Next week it'll start to be more overt. Sean/White, Gram/Black, and Dan/Yok are all end game couples. (Actually, Dan/Yok might not be end game. There's some dark stuff between them that might end poorly, but I'm really hoping they end up together too.)

Haha, I would love that! I wish more love triangles would end that way, and Black obviously cares about, and is sexually attracted to, both of them. And they like each other, so come on.

Yeah, that bugged me too. I mean, at the end of the episode, that's why he's at White's apartment, so they are gonna talk about it it seems, but it adds a bit of a toxic edge into their relationship that I wish hadn't been there. I suppose you can explain it away as the dynamic of the show. Nothing is soft and sweet in their world. I dunno, I'm gonna just accept it and try to move on, since I'm loving the show otherwise.

Right?? I remember seeing the trailer and thinking that scene had to be with Black, but I couldn't figure out how that would make sense with the pacing. Then it ended up being a flashback, lol. Gun is amazing. Both boys are so distinct.

It's so, so weird to me, because appealing to an international audience is where the money is at. It's how Hollywood rose to the top of the film industry, Germany was dethroned as the leader in film (because they shut down their film imports and exports during the war), and why so many people are bending over backwards to hide the gays in order to get that sweet, sweet China money. x_x But there's already a demand for this show, and I don't understand how something like AIS PLAY hasn't put in more of an effort. This just means we'll have to wait for fan subs, and that's just taking money away from their own production.

I know, they're taking views away from their own show and encouraging piracy. We wanna watch too! I don't understand why they'd limit themselves like that. I've only seen the announcement in Spanish so far, and I'm not fluent, so I wasn't sure if there was any nuance to the statement. I couldn't tell if it meant that it will never be released, or if it just meant that the episodes will start out just in Thailand.
