Loved it, but the writing was so bad!

So, the premise in interesting, but the writing is so bad. This is kinda the criticism I have with most thai shows. IDK if its because of bad subtitles or if the story is actually that bad, but this show had so much wasted potential.

I actually quite liked First. I know a lot of people did not like Ryan's acting, but I thought he came across a lot more natural than many newbies - and he *IS* a newbie! While I really could not empathize with Zee and how he treated people, I did think that Frame did a much better job playing Zee than playing Sprite. Also, if Sprite was pretending to be Zee shouldn't he also act like Zee so that he passes for Zee? First has known Zee since they were kids, how does he not know about Sprite. I get that the parents were divorced and the families were not in contact, but the coach seemed like he was close friends with their mom. Sprite was so exaggerated and comical I could not with him. I did love the way Sprite fell for First and tried to make the team a team despite his brother, but it just seemed to strange to me that the team just accepted that this person who is acting nothing like Zee is Zee.

I also didn't understand why Sprite did not confide in First like a bajillion episodes ago. Your lover keeps calling you by your siblings name. Isn't that an ick? Shouldn't he deserve to know who he's sleeping with if you reach that point? I think that was messed up! Especially when Zee and the Girl were involved and Sprite kept insisting he wasn't involved with her. Like what did you think was going to happen. Zee seems to despise First, what did Sprite think was going to happen?

TL;DR: I thought the cast did a fairly good job given how bad the writing was. It is worth a watch if you're interested in movies like parent trap / she's the man and etc that involve twins switching places with each other. Its one of the few BLs focused on Sports so that was also interesting.

Incredible!

Although this is supposedly based on the manhwa 'Weather Forecast of Love', the show is actually quite different from the webcomic that it borrow's its characters from. Dohyun, for one, is a lot more assertive and confident than his webtoon counterpart and Donghyuk is a lot more reserved, a bit of a loner, and a lot less aggressive in comparison to the popular and unattainable Donghyuk of the webtoon. The backstory for the whole show is also quite different from the manhwa, and to be honest, I'd much rather think of them as completely independent works because Donghyuk's insomnia and it's cure are the only common factors other than the character names.

As someone who has watched pretty much all the Japanese, Taiwanese, Thai BLs in the last 5 years, I can confidently say that this is show an absolute treasure. The directing, cinematography and acting are impeccable! The story is cute, simple and not unnecessarily and unrealistically dramatic. There are a few cute kisses and both leads are incredible. From the first episode we can see the chemistry and tension between the leads. Absolutely adored this show and the gentleness of it! It is so easy-breezy and light that it is an easy rewatch with each of the 8 episode being between 15-21 minutes in length (including intro and end credits). Definitely worth the ~2 hours.

Midsummer Night's Dream meets Twelfth Night (kind of)

I absolutely loved this show. Usually I find C-Dramas overly dramatic and way too long. This was 24 45-min episodes which was totally manageable.

The characters were cute and loveable - especially the sickly groom and the martial-arts bride and their super cute interactions. The noble bride and military groom were also very loveable, and added an element of maturity to the show. I loved the side characters too - like pingwei, the bride's handmaiden, the apothecary boy and his adoptive mom, the mute sister and master Liu.

The motivations of the villian and his accomplices were a little unbelievable IMO. Especially given that his grandma doted on him and gave him whatever he wanted.

Fun fact, Juan Zi who played the queen in the 2023 version played princess chang ping in the 2001 series.

Interesting

I find that a lot of the older Korean BLs are a little tragic/sad.

I watched this a few years ago, and I was left unsatisfied with the short. It was interesting and touched on some very sensitive topics. But I enjoyed the acting and the actors. I think they did such a fantastic job. In particular I loved Han Joo Wan. It was awful to hear that he "retired" due to his drug scandal. IDK why because there are so many idols and actors who are back despite having bigger scandals with drugs. He is an incredible actor. I do hope he is able to come back. He was really the stand out factor of this short.

What did I just watch?

When I read the synopsis. I was expecting a really cool story.

These characters didn't have such big problems that they would need a "wish" to solve it. Like what were their needs?

Also what a waste. I hate this jealousy trope where two characters fall in love but because a third character likes one of them they try to sabotage their relationship. Like move on. My whole life has been a series of unrequited love and I ALWAYS just wish the best for the person I like. How immature do people have to be that they don't realize that by forcing someone who doesn't love them into a relationship they are both going to be absolutely miserable. Come on. I had my first crush when I was 3 years old. Yes I remember them - we were best friends, and even then when my brain couldn't even process complex things I was just happy when they were happy even though I knew they didn't like me back - because their dad would always use "getting them married to [me]" as a way to get them to do their chores.

This show was not well written or executed. Directors/Writers please come to me when you want to flesh out your story and dialogue. I don't speak thai but I am happy to work with your writers and storytellers to create good scripts and solid stories. I can add all the cheese and corn you want into the script.

Honestly, with the supernaturally inclined synopsis, there was so much potential to this script but it was completely wasted. I think this was meant to be a bit like the k-drama "mystic pop-up bar" but it failed miserably.

The twist was weird. Like what was the point? Other than to be a twist. It made no logical sense.

I have no idea what is going on.

And neither do any of the characters.

The actors are awkward and not at all believable. Maybe they should have been support roles for a few months/years. Ana is pretty and Fuse is cute tho. Why keep referencing Mark and Vee?

I don't mind the recast of Gun & Bar, but to be honest I absolutely ADORE Folk as an actor - he was pretty much the only reason I kept watching TOSSARA, so that makes me super sad.

Plot? What Plot?

This was just a BL for the sake of being a BL. there is no story and no realism. The love story was contrived. It had no romance or cuteness. It was so meh. 90% of the time I just wanted to fast forward through the episode. I'm at 5/6 episodes. Might as well finish the show. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Too short for a wholesome story

The show was too short in length/episode and the number of total episodes.

There is a story to be told that spans the past and the present, but there is not enough time to explore it completely.

Why was Dennis so obsessive? Why was he in the present? Did he have a history with Yudam in the past - or was he just an assassin for hire? Did he have a romantic relationship with him? Why was he so adamant that Yudam would use and throw away Seol Dongbaek?

There is a parallel between the Seol Dongbaeks deaths - It seems like he is shot and stabbed in the same place. I wish the past and presents of Dongbaek and Yudam were more fleshed out.

Yes, this has a sort of open-ended happy ending, but it isn't really satisfying. I feel like there was too much covered, but it was all just on the surface. There was no depth.

This has so much potential. And it was all wasted.

INCREDIBLE. LIKE HONESTLY. YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW.

I'm not gonna lie. I didn't think I would like this show.

I put off watching it forever because I watched the teaser way back when and it seemed really awful. Also I had taken a hiatus from Thai BLs because the storylines are pretty much the same, the product placements are off putting, the female characters are toxic AF and there is a lot of rape culture that is kind of glorified, the same old same old stories rinsed and repeated you know? Not to mention the script writing is usually poor with a lot of plot-holes and tropes that are overused. The acting is very cheesy and the cinematography is not great. That is not to say that the teams don't put in a lot of work and I do enjoy their entertainment value. They are just not very good quality overall.

HOWEVER.

I have been blown away by KinnPorsche. Yes there is a glorification of rape culture - what with Kinn having sex with Porsche while he is still drugged up, and the whole Stockholm Syndrome aspect with Pete/Vegas (btw. I ABSOLUTELY **ADORE** PETE - he is probably my favorite character in this entire show).

But the cinematography. The storyline. The ACTING! EVERYTHING IS PHENOMENAL!

Like literally everything I dislike about Thai BLs (aside from the rapey aspects) were fixed. No cheesy product placement - it was there, but subtle - like it should be. Not over the top and obvious. The way they utilized the products was great - except the random really glaring hair dye PP for Chay in Episode 10 (I think) . The chemistry between Kinn and Porsche was incredible. Were there a few weak links when it came to actors? Sure. But you can't have everything be 100% perfect.

When the actors spoke English it was intentional. Even though Kinn had a strong thai accent, it was very good. Vegas and Ken (I think that was Perth's Character) had amazing English. I can't speak for the Italians but based on the English, I can assume they did a good job there too. Every thing seemed intentional and well executed. The fight sequences were so well choreographed. Especially the one in Episode 1. The intimate scenes although a little too explicit (but there is a non-explicit version of the show so 🤷🏽‍♀️), in my opinion the entire thing was very well choreographed and seemed *mostly* realistic.

There were a few continuity issues that were glaring to me, but on the whole the show was amazing.

I loved Thankhun. He is probably my second favorite character in this show. OMG. I could talk for days about how incredible he is.

I do like Vegas as a character. He is fucked up. He grew up in the Mafia, with an abusive father. He has probably always been compared to Kinn even though Kinn isn't even the eldest brother. He has probably always been expected to overthrow the family even though his father failed to do so (or perhaps never tried). He is smart and handsome - and yet he is never good enough. I can see how he got so fucked up. I would love to see a second season with a redemption arc for Vegas. Maybe even one where he becomes Kinn's left hand - and most trusted person - all because Pete vouches for him. And he CAN be trusted. He doesn't want the power, he just wants to be loved. And Pete gives him love, Porsche gives him friendship and Kinn doesn't hit him when he fails.

Pete is like honest to god. My favorite character. He is one of those characters who is good, but if he's good then why is he in the Mafia? Y'know? So he's got a dark past obviously, and we get to know that when he's getting tortured by Vegas. And if anyone tells me Pete doesn't have Stockholm Syndrome, go look up what that is. He's sympathizing with his captor. He is literally the Poster Boy for Stockholm Syndrome. I do like the Vegas/Pete arc. but there is too much trauma there. For both of them. Like Vegas literally tortured Pete almost to death. Like I don't think people get that. Also people are saying Vegas let Pete go, but Pete literally knocked Vegas out and then escaped. He was not LET GO freely. There's a lot. A LOT of trauma here. Abusive father. Torturer turned lover. Pete has it rough.

LIKE HONESTLY. YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW.

I know this show has a lot of characters. But I was so invested in all of them. The boys group (Mong, Jod, Ter, Jin & Ti) and the girl's group (White, Om & Melon) were both so adorable.

BB!Kim was hilarious. And is it just me or is Tee a vampire? I swear he looks the same from Part-Time to Today (Kim looks so different!)

I loved all the storylines. And even though this show had 26 episodes, it didn't feel like a drag to watch it all.

The only thing I was upset about was the ambiguous ending. I know there was meant to be a Season 2, but they could have given us closure, or not brought up things that would imply more of a story. It seems liek S2 is totally out of the question though -- I mean, it's been 4 years since this one aired, so the chances of a sequel are none to none.

What happens between Nich-Jin & Tong? Nich just found out her brother is in love with her boyfriend (who is very close to her brother).

What happens between Hall/Ti & Q? We know Hall has feelings for Q, and we assume Ti reciprocated those feelings. But then Q is also circling the water waiting to smell blood... And what about Tee who is in love with Q?

Also what happened with the Girls? Are they a triad, are they staying single? I know from the offset that Om was liked by both White and Melon, but White and Melon seem to have had a tryst, and White kissed Om. So what's going on?

What about Mong & Jod? Will they ever find their happiness?

I'm glad Ter seemed to have at least found closure to his story without any added complication.

This movie is beautiful.

Some people might find it slow/boring, but its actually beautiful.

It's called in between seasons, because it's about the passage of time, going from one season to another.

If you think about Mi Kyung and Yong Joon's relationship, it kind of goes from Summer (when she's all happy and friendly) to Winter (when she shuns him) to Spring (where she slowly starts to accept him into her and her son's life again).

If you think about Yong Joon, he's sort of gone from Spring (where everything is blossoming and beautiful) to a perpetual Autumn/Winter, where nothing grows, and nothing gets better, and he's waiting for his life to restart.

This movie isn't really a BL. It's about a mother coming to terms with the fact that her son is gay, and learning to accept his lover as a caretaker while her own life is also slowly unraveling around her.

It is about a man who is trying to be close to the only family he knows while being pushed away. And trying to stay afloat under the barrage of his lovers mother's discontent.

It is about family, and love of a person bringing people together and helping them find common ground.

I know many people found the ending depressing. But I found it hopeful. Why? Because before Yong Joon didn't have anyone he could tell he was tired to. The fact that he can tell Soo Hyun he's tired makes me think they're getting back on track. Because now maybe Soo Hyun can be someone Yong Joon can lean on, where before he was carrying all the burdens alone.

Mi Kyung is accepting Yong Joon as her son. So perhaps their relationship is no longer a burden either of them needs to carry.

This show is so CUTE!

I love it. The couples are so cute. The actors are adorable and do an awesome job!

Boun/Duen - Duen is such a puppy! When he smiles everything is brighter, I swear his woobie face makes everything better. Boun - some people are complaining that he said "I don't like men, I only like Duen" but whatever. To me sexuality labels are totally a social construct and maybe Boun is demisexual he doesn't have to like men to like Duen. He doesn't have to like anyone to like Duen. In fact when he started this whole thing he DIDN'T like Duen. Even he doesn't know when he started falling for Duen and his stupid, clueless self. Stop getting annoyed because of this line it's not a big deal not everyone who falls for a man has to be "gay" they can be demi, they can be bi, they can be pan, they can be fluid, they can be that 99% straight on the kinsey scale that liked women and now all of a sudden fell for a man okay? It's a sliding scale.

Mek/Boss - I think this one is my favorite couple. I love LOVE L-O-V-E Mek. He is my favorite character I think (apart from the creepy shrine to Boss a la Helga from Hey! Arnold). Boss is so clueless I want to smack him upside the back of the head. I mean Mek confesses to Boss every episode I think. And then says "lor len" (to kid/mess/play/joke around). YOU ARE NOT EFFING JOKING, MEK! STOP SAYING "LOR LEN"!!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

Ram/King - OMG! RAM'S RBF gives me LIFE! And Ram's Brother knows him so well!! I AM CRYING BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH I LAUGHED THANKS TO THAT KID! King is adorable too. What's even funnier is that Perth (the actor who plays Ram) is the oldest cast member, and he plays the Junior.

Frong really annoys me. Thara is so cute. I can't believe they're gonna be pairing these two together. I hope Dr. Thara can redeem Frong for me.

Ting is so cute!! I'm so glad this show is treating her like a main cast member and giving her so much importance. I usually see BLs cast female actors & characters to the wayside usually so this is such a nice change.

THE KIDS!!! HOW CUTE ARE THEY!!!

I love the sound track of this show. It is so sexy. I couldn't think of another word. I love it. It is so soothing and beautiful!

If I have to give one critique? Mek is voiced over. The actor playing him (Ryan/Raff) is Chinese, and he didn't speak Thai when he played Mek. So they hired a Thai actor to dub over his character, this is very obvious and you can hear the change in ambient sounds and etc. when he is speaking. It is very odd. But by episode 3, I was used to it. I started glossing over the fact that Mek was dubbed over.

I can appreciate the fact that this wasn't set in a school/college. I can.

But this is literally more immature than the school/college BLs out there.

If you want a non-School/College BL dealing with adult themes which are a hot mess, I'd recommend Friend Zone.

Sure, this has some intense bed scenes with Rambo/Pree. But their story line is cheapened by the fact that Pree is love with Pop (who is his sister's boyfriend, mind you) and Rambo is engaged to two people (Pree and his father's business partner's daughter). Also what the duck were those sound effects .... SMH. Facepalm. FML.

Pop/Oat just really annoyed me all the time. Okay so it was most Oat who annoyed me. And now whenever I see the actor I just physically recoil. I feel bad for him because he did nothing wrong. It's all Oat's fault for being such an annoying character. I genuinely could not find affection for him over the 20 episodes, which if you ask me were 20 episodes too long. And I really did give this my best try.

Usually by the end of the show I start loving/sympathizing with all the characters on the show. On this show the only characters I was rooting for were Nick & Mo. And that's because Pop is so pathetic I just could not with him anymore. And Nick was just so cute with Mo.

I just physically could not bring myself to go on to watch season 2. It was too much torture. And I really wanted to because of NewYear (HE IS SO GOOD! PEOPLE NEED TO START CASTING HIM IN MORE THINGS LIKE ASAP!!!)

So I didn't think I would like this show. like at all. I thought it would be too corny. I thought it would be too ridiculous. I thought it would be overacted. I thought it would be too campy.

It was just the right amount of all of the above.

I don't think there was a single character I disliked on this show.... except maybe Vier. But I think we were meant to maybe dislike him a little bit so that we would cheer for Tangmo instead.

I loved Tangmo. He was so adorable. Even when he knew he was losing he never hurt Love. I love him so much. <3 <3 <3 He is the ideal partner. And Tangmo and Love's kiss was so cute. I totally thought they were going to cop out and have Tangmo kiss girl!Love, but they gave us a BL kiss *smiles so big*

Love - I loved this story. She was so cute. As a girl I liked her less, but James playing a girl who transformed into a boy did such a good job. He was so adorable, I couldn't help but love girl!Love as well as the episodes went on (even though we saw less of her). I loved her arc with her brother. It was so cute. And when Good finds out the way he hugged her--- I CRIED SO MUCH!!!! I loved her relationship with Tangmo - from being antagonized, to becoming his mentee and friend, to becoming his secret crush, to realizing Tangmo liked her, and to her caring so much about Tangmo and loving him. I CRIED SO MUCH!!

Vier - I get that we were probably mean to sympathize with him and maybe hate him a little so that we could love Tangmo more. But this guy. I dunno what his issue was. Like honestly. I watched the whole show and I still don't get it. Yeah dude. I'm fat too. Like a thousand people including my parents tell me this a thousand times a day. I am made to feel like shit all the time. I also have this need to be perfect. But I don't want to ruin my friends' lives to do it. I don't want to break their heart by stealing the guy they like just to get on top. Like what a loser. But I agree with Nuclear. He was right at the end of the show. And I feel bad for the guy he had first sibling syndrome towards his best friend. :(

Sean/Rose - I wish we had more screen time with Sean/Rose. I wish this series was longer so we could have explored this character longer. Like if Rose and Vier dated for so long how did Rose suddenly have a brother? How did Vier and Sean suddenly get so close? Why is Rose/Sean dying if I understood that correctly? What was her wish in the first place?

Good - SO CUTE!!! The way he blushes when Me is around. I loved how he's such an A Type and how he works with boy!Love so that they can complete Boot Camp but he's such a softie when he realizes his sister is in trouble, and that he is willing to do anything to help her. I LOVE Good. He's such a good brother, even when his sister is disappointing him.

Nuclear was probably one of my favorite character on this show. I love how he calls the teacher out for only teaching for 10 minutes of the class period. I love how he thinks he's such a ladies man. He was adorable. I love how he tells off his idol when he disappoints him. He's brave. I love that about Nuclear.

Menn - he was so adorable. In episode 1, I totally thought he was going to be the one Love was going to end up with. But he was too "weak" a character I guess. But I adored him.

You & Me - How adorable are these girls. They are just so cute! Such good friends. Such sweethearts. I want these girls to be my best friends too!!! <3

This show was great. I wouldn't classify this as a BL necessarily. Why? Because Love is a girl. She is stuck in a boy's body for most of the show but she is a girl who makes a wish and then because of circumstances ends up stuck in a boy's body, perhaps permanently. The guy who falls in love with her falls in love with her when she is a boy, yes, but he is willing to love her regardless of which body she inhabits. So perhaps it is an LGBT Story where Tangmo can claim to be Bi or Pan. There is a kiss between Tangmo and Boy!Love so I guess, you could take it as a BL. But Boy!Love is still is a girl on the inside.

I love that this show focuses on relationship building rather than audience gratification. I love the relationship between Menn-Nuclear-Love they are best friends and its great. Vier-Tangmo's bestfriend/rival relationship is also so wonderful because they are such good friends and its so sad to see how Tangmo becoming determined starts causing their friendship to deteriorate because of Vier's insecurities. Love-Good's friendship/sibling relationship is also beautiful to witness. You-Love-Me are so adorable - this girl power trio are a force to reckon with. And then ofcourse the Vier-Love-Tangmo friendships and triangle - because Love is so wise and she is like both of these stupid boys' yoda, but she's still so young and naive so they also teach her a lot in return.

This show is beautiful. It is a masterpiece.

Also I am so shocked at how NOT AS OBVIOUS the product placement was.... it was still obvious... but slightly more subtle than it usually is in thai shows. IT SHOCKED THE BAJEESUS OUTTA ME. I could watch the show without being forced out of the scene!! I want to watch more from this production company. I hope they continue to make their product placement more organic to the show.

So I know this show can be read as transphobic to some degree. And it can be considered problematic. https(:)//bl-archer.tumblr(.)com/post/186465653090/as-a-trans-person-how-did-you-feel-about-great-men/ But honestly this show has some of the best relationship building. And Tangmo is the best partner in the whole world. #unconditionalloveatitsfinest I can list all the reasons tangmo is perfect but it would take me forever.

I knew going into the show that this was different from the movie, so I approached it like a completely different entity all to itself.

The acting was alright. I am watching My Engineer and Cooper hasn't changed much with how he plays "cocky". I enjoy him though. He's cute.

Guide was also enjoyable as Bank. He really reminds me of Mild Suttinut Uengtrakul for some reason and I need them to play real brothers now.

But the story was so disjointed and incomplete. I needed a lot of work. Someone should have fleshed out the storyboards and scripts better before going into production. We never got the story of why they broke up in the first place (the description says homophobic dad, but dad seems supportive of Jackson/Bank, and Bank seems to say at some point that he wasn't prejudiced or something about "those weren't your feelings (or thoughts or something)"), and why it won't be a problem this time around. Bank never broke up with Jackson. I liked the school teacher as a character, but that whole arc was so unnecessary. What purpose did Tom/Bank or the teacher's arc serve to the story? Nothing. This show could have had potential but it was just really badly written and executed. If you go to AO3, I can show you a 1000+ better step-brother turned lover plots that could last 13 episodes.

To Summarize: Acting was ok, Story was badly written and executed, Music was forgettable, I wouldn't rewatch it, but I would still recommend a Thai BL lover watch it because there aren't that many shows (less than 100, which means there are *less than* 2000 episodes, which if you watch 5.5 episodes a day you can complete in one year).

This is the story of two neighbors who end up in awkward situations that leads their common friend (and common love interest) to think they are gay.

It is hilarious, and cute. And you kind of end up shipping the two because they are like an old-married couple. And they do really honestly care a lot about each other - enough that they're both willing to give up on the girl that they like because the other likes her.

The actors are really cute and good. Everyone did a fantastic job.

There are a few problematic moments, for me personally, but its a Korean show dealing with gay themes. So I don't expect it to be smooth sailing. >_< But that being said, it was really more progressive than anything else I have seen that is a straight comedy dealing with gay themes.
