Very fun

The writers flirted with using tropes we are super familiar with, but almost always twisted them a bit making them more enjoyable and less frustrating. It's not a perfect story, and my personal taste is that there be less "Villian" characters, but at least this one doesn't cause a lot of angst so that's better. The show is fun and Junho and Yoona are a great pair to watch together. There were a few characters that I found exceedingly annoying and wished were shown less, but they are mostly overshadowed by the other positives. Overall I really enjoyed this show.

Really Good Drama

I enjoyed this show a lot. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it quickly grew on me and I found myself looking forward to each episode. I liked the main 4 characters the most but the guest cast also did a wonderful job. The storylines of the characters were interesting and kept you wanting to know more. There were a couple cringy bits (thus the half star drop). The ML and FL exude this vibrant sibling energy even though they are not supposed to be related and that was a great aspect to their characters. Overall, I really liked the way this drama unfolded and have already recommended it to a friend.

Sweet and Cute

I watched this drama with a friend and we both liked it. It's not a GREAT drama, but it's lighthearted and cute with a good cast and a happy ending. And all of that is what I want in a drama.

For me, the downside was some of the townpeople. The ajumah women were literally characters that I groaned every time they showed up. I don't like to watch people bicker and that was basically their purpose on the show. It really was annoying and a big part of why I didn't give the show a higher score.

One of he best characters is the second male lead. I wish we had been given more scenes with him and the male lead because they were a hoot to watch together. But I loved how the 2ML isn't an annoying character or one that tries to cause problems because he's not getting what he wants. He was just awesome all the way through and I wish more 2nd lead characters were like him.

Overall, it's a cute drama and a great one if you want to just watch something fun and light.

Interesting show.

The first episode of this did NOT hook me because it seemed like it was going to be stories based on rumors more than facts. However as it went on, it got more and more factual and interesting. They tell stories of happenings around the world. Some I knew about, but many were new to me and since I enjoy history I liked hearing the stories. Sometimes the reactions are a bit over the top (or the acting while telling the stories), but overall it's an intriguing show. I hope they put out more episodes.

Just...what?

I know this show was super popular and let be start with the good stuff:

Amazing acting. Seriously...all the actors/actresses are great in their roles and some are playing very different characters than we have seen them in before so that is impressive all on it's own.

The Look - This show looks amazing and was filmed really well.

The not so good stuff:

Story - Interesting at first, but then got super violent and hard to take at times. Started out great, but got really over the top and cheezy a lot of the time. Also it was very hard to watch the villians be so awful. I mean, I know you are supposed to dislike them, but it's really just too much and instead of wanting justice for their crimes, I just didn't care about seeing them at all. And the violence...it's way way too much. Especially in the last episode. That was just a horror show that did not need to be seen. It was awful.

Characters - Disliked literally every character. Even though they were well acted, it was hard to root for the "good guys/gals" and even the side characters were just too over the top most of the time. My friend and I watched this show together and we decided the only "good" character is the pigeon. So there is that. I mean it's hard to cheer for even the "heroes" when they are willing to murder and be awful humans as well. Some of the characters started out likable, but by the end, I was ready to be done with all of them...except the pigeon. Him we could see more of. :-)

So, I can't recommend this drama. It's just extremely violent and hard to take.

Such a cute show.

I have been in a bit of a drama slump and this was perfect for me. The first couple episodes had some swearing that annoyed me (especially since part of the time no one was actually swearing, but it was in the subs), but when you got past that it was really good. The story is fun, the characters are adorable, the acting is good. Plus there is a cute dog and cat and the episodes are short. I mean, can you ask for more? If you want something lighthearted and won't take long to watch, I recommend this. It's really a cute cute show and I'm so glad I watched it.

So good, and made positive changes from the original.

First let me say that I was a bit nervous going into this drama because I had liked the #Cdrama original, and was afraid it might not be quite the same. But, for me anyway, this version was even better because it improved the things that I had found lacking in the original. I even went back and rewatched part of the original to see the differences.

1st: The pacing is so good in this version. Both the #CDrama and the #Kdrama are 24 episodes long, but the #Cdrama episodes are about 45 minutes long and the #KDrama episodes are about 22 minutes long. That helped speed up the pace of the drama and got rid of some of the things that I felt made the story drag in the #CDrama. However, it didn't change the story much and in fact seemed almost the same. A few plot points were slightly adjusted, but nothing major or anything that changed the story.

2nd: In the #Cdrama, I liked the female lead, but she was just too immature at times. This female lead keeps all the cuteness of the original, but lets her be an adult as well.

3rd: The Male Lead is cold and aloof in both dramas, but I found myself smiling more at the lead in this version. It's like the director made more of a point about allowing the audience to see the ML's feelings even when the Female lead is totally clueless. He's not cruel in any way (where in the #Cdrama, some of his choices can seem that way)...he's quite simply awkward and it's fun to watch him trying to figure out what to do...even when he makes a poor choice, once he figures it out, he tries to fix the situation if he can.

The one thing I wish had been given a bit more focus is the Female lead's love of drawing. It's important to the plot later in the drama, but not included much in the majority of the show. So when it becomes a plot point, if I hadn't been familiar with the #CDrama, it might have been confusing. In this version, her talent is shown at times, but more in the background...which was a bit disappointing.

Overall though, I really really enjoyed this drama.

A decent story with great acting

First the good stuff:
The two main couples are fun to watch. they are the main reason I kept watching. They have great chemistry together. The main couple shows a pretty realistic type relationship while the 2nd lead couples are an unusual twist on a noona romance. The story is well put together and I like how the character's storylines are intermixed. The intertwined stories make it more fun to watch the side characters. I was especially interested in Woo-Shik's story and loved how they showed him working hard to get back to the sport he loved. I wish he had been shown even a bit more. In fact any time the ML, Woo-Shik and the other 1st place runner friend were together was great fun to watch and I wish it had happened more. I also wish the 2nd FL's younger brother had been a bigger part of the story. He was the character for which I felt the most sympathy.

The Other Stuff:
1st: I absolutely hated the way the younger brother of the FL was treated by both of his siblings. It was horrible and uncalled for no matter the reason. The older brother was awful so I already didn't like his character, but I was bothered by the way it tainted the way I looked at the 2nd FL and made it hard for me to fully root for her.

2nd: There is a swearing streak of F words in episode 9 that was just uncalled for and was especially annoying considering the fact that the FL is a translator and should have a better range of vocabulary than to stoop to such a thing. She was better than the Cinematographer (who seemed like a jerk) until that moment, but her foul words made her no better than him.

3rd: The Break. The reasoning for the break is dumb and could have easily been done without.

4th: The "movie scenes". To be honest, I fast forward through most of these. I just found them totally annoying.

5th: The Dads. Seriously...something is wrong with them. Also, The ML's Dad is supposed to be a Christian, but shows the most un Christlike behavior all the time. As a Christian, it offends me no end.

Overall, I liked the drama, but there were several things I wish had been different.

A sweet drama

I liked this drama a lot. However, I will admit that a few characters really bugged me. I didn't enjoy the FL's parents (especially the Mom...she's just mean for no reason). The actor and actress were great, but the characters were grating for me. I also found the plot point of the FL not wanting people to see her bare face really frustrating after a while. It was fine at first and even seemed appropriate given her history, but after awhile it was just annoying. Once it was removed as a plot point the entire show got better in my opinion.

I like the friendships shown. It's fun to see groups of people interacting. But I could have done without the "extra" bullying. I know some was necessary in the beginning to make the story work, but seeing more later on was just not something I wanted to deal with at all.

Overall, though there were some parts I didn't like, this is one of the better dramas I've seen in the last year so that's a huge win for me.

It needs a 2nd season...

This show is cute, but it literally feels like the actual story just started when it ends. I'm hoping that there is another season or something or else it will feel very unfinished.

I was unfamiliar with the actors/actresses, but they all did a good job. The ML and FL were fun to watch together, but that didn't really happen until about the last 2 episodes and felt like their story was only beginning.

If there isn't a continuation of the story in some way, then I can't really recommend the show because of unfinished feeling it leaves, but if there ends up being a part two then I think it's worth checking out.

Decent but slow

I am not a fan of slow stories. I don't mean just that it could take a while for the leads to get together, but stories where just everything is SLOW. The characters are slow to speak...they think a lot...just slow. This drama is that. Everything is slow. It's not bad or anything. Just found myself frustrated at the pace. The characters are fine, but even their conversations are often slow.

I like the male and female leads together but there are times where they don't communicate well and that is frustrating as well. They break up for a time (normal in most dramas or movies) and I ended up ff part of that time because I was just needing the story to move on.

Just adorable...

First let me say, this is a plot that should not work and should feel strange. Plus, the whole idea of a guy adopting the older sister (even on paper) seems very odd since she is a legal adult, but I LOVE the little sister and him being her "Dad" is adorable. The older sister and the "Dad" are cute together, but there isn't really an ick factor because she's 23....not remotely a kid, and he's only 5 years older than her. Plus the little sister actually sets up the contract and the older sister is sort of the "plus 1" for the plan. So, somehow it all works. Is it odd...yes. But it's a mini drama with only 6 episodes so a lot can be forgiven since there is very little time to tell the story.

I found this show adorable. I enjoyed it a lot and I'm so glad I watched it.

Loved parts, but couldn't get past others.

First let me say that I love that this drama shined a light on so many types of mental health issues. The autistic brother was my favorite character and I loved his story line. In fact, I really enjoyed all the story lines in the show. The acting was top notch and the entire drama was visually striking.

My main issue was the Female lead character. Let me try to explain...
If you knew of a person who had stolen the money from a bunch of elderly people leaving them destitute with their lives in shambles and that same person later decided not to do that anymore...at least not as much, and even built a Senior center, but never made amends to the elderly they had hurt and in fact didn't even think they had done anything wrong to those elderly, you would find it hard to see that person in a positive light.

That is how the the Female lead character felt to me. In the first part of the drama we see her cruelty to animals, her self centered attitude and lack of empathy. She does two attempted murders and two kidnappings in the first few episodes. Plus the emotional blackmail that she often uses is just horrible. Her temper flairs and she gets violent any time she is contradicted. And this part of her personality never changes. Though we see her soften toward the ML, his brother, and a few others, she easily and quickly reverts to her previous ways as soon as she is challenged. Even when she had the opportunity to make amends for destroying her publisher, she makes him choose whether he will repair his business or not when it wasn't necessary for him to do so. Effectively making him choose to stay destroyed and have to rebuild everything when SHE is the one who caused the destruction. I found her character exceedingly uncomfortable to watch and was always wary that the male lead would get hurt or that she would just turn on him at any given moment.

There is a scene where she talks to her mother and says something to the effect of how she "almost" became like her Mom. I was literally thinking...no...you are exactly like your Mom except you have yet to succeed in killing anyone (not for lack of trying) and though you are unempathetic at times, you are not necessarily evil in your intentions.

I like the two brothers and her together, but at the same time I found it uncomfortable to cheer for because of her character. It felt wrong to want the brothers to get entangled with such a person.

Without her character, the story would not have been the same, but because of that character, I had to rate the drama lower. She was just too uncomfortable to cheer for. If the character has shown remorse (beyond saying sorry for stabbing the ML...twice), or really even seemed to change, I would have felt differently but not as it was.

I'm on the fence...

First let me say that the acting is this show is great. Everyone does a phenomenal job in their respective parts. And the story is interesting.

But for me, this show was lacking, but I can't really explain why. I found myself being irritated at the flashbacks even though they were very necessary to the plot. There wasn't really enough of a romance between any of the characters to focus on that one way or another either. My favorite character was Yook Seung Jae's role, but I felt like more could have been done with it at times as well. I didn't really like the "other realm" stuff either...for me those parts were just annoying.

Overall, the drama is good and I think the parts that bugged me were more specific to me than anything else. I'm glad I binged it because if I had paused between episodes, I'm not sure I would have gone back to it very quickly.

My biggest pet peeve in KVariety is when a game is played for food and someone or some team doesn't get any. This is the total opposite of that. In this show, the Idols come on and are treated to a feast and are allowed to show off their charms and promote their newest song. Not only do you get to watch them truly enjoy a hearty meal, but you get to see how that meal was prepared as well. In fact, it's just lovely to watch them being pampered a bit. It's a really fun show and I highly recommend it. I've not finished it yet because more episodes have apparently been added and it's still airing. I have seen the first 6 and am waiting for subs for the 7th.

There is a mukbang music video for each episode as well and I haven't watched those, but I've enjoyed all the main episodes so much!
