First, I didn't even know there was a Japanese version. So this review is not a comparison.

Rich Man, Poor Woman is a terrible name for a drama, but because of the lead actors, I decided to watch it anyway. The story isn't so bad. It is pretty typical. CEO has a childhood trauma that makes him a cold asshole, then a beautiful, cheerful woman comes into his life and changes him. I have watched this story and enjoyed it many times. The story isn't the problem. What is bad about this drama is that the character growth is minimal. Plus, I thought this was supposed to be a romance but there wasn't much. The writer took too long and it was slow and a little boring. I mean shouldn't the lead actor and actress kiss and have more intimate moments than the supporting actors and actresses? Anyway, the story between Cha Do Jin (Park Sung Hoon) and Mi So (Yoon Da Young) was more interesting and they had great chemistry.

The acting was just so so. I'm a total fan of idols turned actors, but Yoo Chan (Suho) wasn't very good here. Some of his facial expressions and acting was really strange and down right ridiculous. I don't know what that weird twisted upper lip expression was that he kept using, but someone should have told him to stop. I think he was the most natural when he was with Kim Bo Ra (Ha Yeon Soo). Ha Yeon Soo is a good actress and she did well in this role. She was one of the highlight of the drama.

The music is pretty good, although somewhat overused.

I will never rewatch this.

If you want to watch a romance, then there are better ones out there. I don't recommend this drama.
